  1. Thanks to all for the input. Padgett, I will ask about the anti-rattle red stuff and abnormal wear. Will have him check parking brake and caliper alignment. Again, he has assured me that this is not a dangerous situation, however I am going on a 1,000 mile trip soon and have some concern about it. Does anyone see a safety problem or is it just an annoyance? Thanks again. BJ
  2. First the tech installed standard pads. Next, he tried ceramic and the third set is called Anti-Squeal. Don't have parts numbers. Don't know exactly what is in the hardware kit, but assume it consists of springs, clips, etc. ?? The rotors had been turned twice in the past for other reasons, but he assured me that they are OK and do not need replacing. Is there anything else that could be causing this other than the rotors? Thanks. BJ
  3. Fortunately, my Reatta brakes are working fine, but am having a squeak or squeal noise from the rear brakes on my 2001 LeSabre. I apologize for going off topic on the Reatta forum, but thought that someone here may be able to help. My tech has now replaced the pads three times and most recently has added "new hardware" He says that the rotors become glazed, but otherwise the rotors seem to be OK. Each time that he has worked on the car it seems to be fine for about a week and then starts making the same noise again. He has told me that there is not a safety issue. Will appreciate any constructive comments. Thanks. BJ
  4. Were any Reattas produced with manual transmissions or were all automatic? BJ
  5. Could use the GM part numbers for my 90 for the following parts if anyone has them handy: Tensioner Assembly and Harmonic Balancer. Thanks. BJ
  6. For quite some time the yellow antilock light has stayed on after starting until I stop and turn the ignition off. When I restart the light goes off. Recently, the light stayed on all of the time while the ignition was on. For a variety of reasons, I am unable to do repair work so took my '90 to a mechanic that I have reasonable trust in. He found a code 27 and diagnosed the problem as a wheel valve. I took a new accumulator to the shop because the car was way overdue for one and after it was installed the code went away and the light stayed off. It was road tested, and when I picked it up the light stayed off. On the way home, I stopped for about 30 minutes and when I started the car the yellow light stayed on. After about a mile of driving I thought that I heard a slight "click" sound and the light went off. It seems to be working OK now except that when I turn on the switch without engaging the starter the yellow light goes off promptly, but when I engage the starter the yellow light only come back on briefly. Could there be somethig else going on? A relay maybe? Thanks for any comments. BJ
  7. Mine has blacks now, but had white raised letter when I bought it some years ago. The raised whites looked great when the car was parked, but not good when rolling. BJ

Thanks all. I'll e-mail Jim. Vincent - I appreciate the tutorial, but you are dealing with a guy here who can't even change a tail light bulb successfully. Thanks anyway. BJ

I'm looking for an amber globe for my driver's side front turn signal. Does anyone have Jim Finn's e-mail address? Thanks. BJ
  10. Bad connection sounds right especially since the tail light portion of the bulb works. Oboy, here we go taking that whole assembly off again. Thanks.
  11. Passenger side turn signal stopped working. The problem seemed to be the center stop light bulb. All others were working. When I started to replace the bulb with a 2057 I found that when I had some of the rear sockets replaced last year the mechanic used ones that take 1157 bulbs. Luckily I had an old one that had been in the original package in the garage for years, so I installed it. Everything worked fine before and after reassembly of the rear lighting system. Then, the first time I drove it the turn signal did not work and the center bulb appears to be the culprit again. This bulb works as a tail light, but not as a turn signal, stop signal or hazard flasher. Any thoughts about what may be going on here before I start over again? Thanks. BJ
  12. Bill, A "Reatta Dinosaur Chapter" sounds good. You're right about the folks who post here. I am always amazed at how much they know and how willing they are to share. Hope the insurance thing works out. Enjoy your new toy! BJ
  13. Bill, Can't help with the insurance, but am glad to see another 75 on the site. I thought that I may be the only one. BJ
