  1. There is a kennel at the old stadium where people can leave their dogs with supervison, shade and water. Dogs don't need to be out on hot asphalt. Service/assistance animals are a different matter but they are usually marked as such and well trained to be in crowded places. And by law a true service dog is allowed anywhere their human goes. And you are correct, those that wish to break the rules will find a way.
  2. There are additional items that they announce are not allowed like roller blades, skateboards, razor scooters..... The sad fact is that many of today's adults and kids think that someone has to TELL them to not do things that people with some common sense know not to do. They know without being told that a child free wheeling on a razor scooter is a hazard to those that can't move quickly out of their way. People that know that bringing an aggressive dog to a place with so many people is a bad idea and yet I have witnessed people bring dogs that are aggressive toward other dogs and try to control them. Vendors bring dogs with them many times because they travel from show to show and I don't have a problem with that. I have not had problems with any dog that a vendor had there. It is the ones brought in by shoppers that seem to be the problem. Until a month ago I had a Dalmatian. She was a very good dog. But I never took her to stuff like that. I left her at a good kennel. It is a car show and automotive flea market, not a dog show.
  3. If a sharp-eye judge catches that you have installed LED lights here are the deductions depending on which lights are non-authentic which requires a full deduction per light that is incorrect. They have not been allowed as a "safety" item at this point. Headlights - 5 points each Side/Parking lights - 3 points each Tail lights - 3 points each Driving/ Fog lights - 3 points each
  4. If you don't find someone, check with Greyhound bus lines about shipping the parts, or some of them, that way. Several of us have used them with good results.
  5. I personally don't have a problem with the cans, metal washers, etc. being tied on as a warning that a very quiet scooter, golf carts, wagon (like the one I have a metal washer on) is close by. I would rather hear the rattle than get run over because I didn't know they were driving through. No one should go though with the attitude of "Get out of my way".
  6. This is straight from the brochure. "Handicapped Information Convenience vehicles, battery operated for physically impaired, contact: Scooter Bug - (781) 933-3120. Recognized handicapped personal mobility carts can be certied at the maintenance building near the employee entrance o Hershey Park Drive. No motorbikes, scooters, mini-bikes, Segways, motorcycles, 2 or 3-wheel bicycles, or private motorized carts (including golf carts) will be allowed to operate on the meet grounds for the safety of our visitors and members."
  7. Steve, if you can find out their space number for me I will add it to the master list of folks at Hershey and where to find them and buy your stuff. C3F 10-12
  8. We did receive our ballot in the 25177-1618 zip code area.
  9. Items for: 1939 Dodge Deluxe 4-door sedan, 1963 1/2 Ford Falcon Sprint convertible and a 1974 Mercedes-Benz 450SL.
  10. Bill, I added this to the master list.
  11. Happy birth anniversary Wayne. May your warranty never run out.
  12. You are very welcome. MCHinson and I are both among those that judge. As does my husband and LOTS of others. Don't know where you live but if you are ever close enough to a Hershey or another national meet be sure and sign up to take the judges school and learn first hand how we are trained. Who knows, you might want to also enjoy that side of the hobby. Great folks and we are trained the same in the same classes that go on at most meets. If you go you will get a free hard copy of the Judges Guidelines to go over and overline things that apply to your vehicle or things you want to remember. A very important thing to know and remember----be sure when you tour or show (locally or at meets/events) to have a fire extinguisher at all times. There are so many stories out there for real of vehicles saved by having one or lost by not having one. And in the AACA it is REQUIRED that you have one for each and every vehicle you to bring to an event. NOT one for all of the ones you bring. Not having them results in disqualification. A sad thing to have happen after so much work to get there.
  13. Well, first and most important, you must be a member of the national AACA to show at official Spring and Fall Meets as they are called. You do not have to be a member of a Region or Chapter though. Vehicles accepted for class judging must be twenty-five years old or older and as they could have come from the factory. That means that they can be any color that was available for the year, make and model that a vehicle is. They must be in orginial or restored to original condition. There is a DPC (Driver Participation Class) where some modifications are allowed such as radial tires, add on A/C, etc. for folks that don't want to go through class judging or have done that and now want to tour and enjoy their vehicles with some of the modern items. Here is the link to the 2012 Judging Guidelines. It would be helpful to you to give it a read to understand how we do the judging/evaluating in the AACA at national meets. After you have checked it out come back with any questions and there are lots of folks here that will help with those. http://www.aaca.org/images/2012_Judges_Guidelines.pdf Vehicles that would be classed as: Street Rods, Hot Rods, Rat Rods, "Modifieds", modern iron, etc. are not permitted to be shown at national AACA meets. Some Regions and Chapters do hold local events and they can allow whatever they choose to into those shows.
  14. Cool mornings are nice for having steaming hot Perogies and a hot chocolate for breakfast on the field. And warm later on for a nice crisp Sherrie's Crab Cake Sandwich and a cold soda for lunch sure hits the spot. Parts? What parts?
  15. "What cars would look like if crabs designed them." (This photo has been here before.) But worth a second look.
  16. Greatest find ever, the perfect NOS running boards that I spotted at the end of the old White Field years ago. It had rained (Yeah, I know, big surprise there, right?) and Bill and I were headed back to the car to get our judging supplies and the guys selling them had just taken them out of the cargo trailer. They cost us $680 but worth every penny as they were the correct ones for our 1939 Dodge DeLuxe four-door sedan.
  17. Admission is still free after all these years.
  18. Without many of the folks that travel in those there wouldn't be a Meet at the level that AACA Meets are. And recently those have been parked over on the old "White Field" away from the main flea market area. That area has not been used as a flea market area in a few years.

  20. Those of us that have been going to this event know all too well that it is a massive undertaking. One that most of us would run from like crying little girls. But when complaint after complaint is registered year after year and from many sources one would think that notice would be taken, it would be investigated and action taken to correct the issue. It just seems like that does not happen. Yes, sometimes it does, but not often enough. What I have heard is folks want more parts and cars and less gee-gaws and "crafts". There are thousands of flea market places for folks to sell those items. There are getting to be less and less events for those of us that want true antique vehicles and parts for them. It is an AACA event. So why aren't the spaces given first to those wanting to sell items that fit the rules? People running over others and breaking the rules is a whole different issue. Sad, but true.
  21. It adds to the sting of this when we all walk through and see many spots together with modern vehicles parked in them, junk for sale that is not automotive related and spaces that for the whole time have nothing in them. Yes, people don't show up due to weather, health issues, etc. But when spaces are used as a parking area for several vehicles that just is not right. And it keeps happening year after year that people want to come and sell automotive items and there are no spaces available. People report the violators and they are back the next year. This going on is not an issue of overworked personnel in the Hershey Region. It is being ignored.
  22. Please enter your information there because this thread will be locked. http://forums.aaca.org/f228/2012-annual-who-will-hershey-where-335494.html#post1075992
  23. Probably saying, "Don't bother takin' a photo 'cause it's not for sale buddy!!!!"
  24. I just got an e-mail from him and was glad to hear that he and Dale are safe. At least he knows we were thinking about them.
