  1. The parts book shows different part numbers for the emblems for 1937 and 1938. They are identical except for the USA on the 1938 emblem. A 38 with a non USA emblem has a replacement from 1937 on it. The emblem was another way to distinguish the difference between the two years. Too many original domestic 38 cars have the emblem with USA on it for it to be export only. It very well could have been on exported 38 vehicles as well to distinguish them from 37 cars.
  2. That emblem on the right is either a 37 Dodge car or Dodge truck but not a 38 car, the head light come off of the radiator shell. The other is a replacement emblem not original.
  3. One more accessory that is nice to have, is the radio. Pictures of the correct radio head face plate with knobs that sits in the dash above the ash tray, the correct speaker that hangs on the firewall, and the radio head showing the back of the speaker. You could have an antenna that ran along the bottom of the running board or on the cowl in front of the driver door.
  4. How many of us are lucky enough to have found this part either on their car when they bought it or found it afterward to add to their car? The glove box door is unique to accommodate the clock. They did not just cut out a hole in the door and stick a clock in it. Pretty nice accessory to have in your car.
  5. Here is the Hollywood accessory catalog for 1938 Dodge:
  6. For all domestic cars, in 1937 the wing emblem on the grill did not have USA on it. For 1938 USA was added to the emblem. See attached pictures.
  7. RARE? Maybe so if you consider the popularity of coupes in stock car and dirt track racing in the 40's and 50's and demolition derby's. Plus many coupe owners moved up to 4 door cars after the war as the baby boomer generation took off. It would be interesting to see just how many of those 15,000 are really out there in the street rod and antique car hobbies. I dare say that the salvage yard inventory is probably minuscule as a result of the many spikes in the cost of scrap that we have experienced over the last several decades.
  8. There is a difference between the 37 and the 38 emergency brake set up. In 1938 the brake handle was moved from the floor to under the dash which required the emergency brake setup to be reversed. In 1937 the linkage is on the right side looking at it from the rear. In 1938 it was moved to the left. Easy way to tell which year the transmission is if the emergency brake is still attached to it.
  9. Question, the correct 38 wing nose emblem has USA on it at the bottom. How many of you have the USA emblem on your car?

  18. I wonder if the Vaseline on a windshield wiper rubber would protect it from deterioration? They are slowly becoming expensive depending on the vehicle.
  19. Call George Asche at 814-354-2621. He rebuilds them and has a wealth of information about them. I am looking for a 39 for my car. I have a 37 De Soto that George rebuilt for me that I am going to put in my 38 Dodge if I can not find a 39.
  20. Just got back my rebuilt engine to add to my rebuilt overdrive and a new set of running boards. Can't wait to get them all installed on the car. I just hope I can put it all back together after so much time since I took the front end off the car. I did take pictures and bagged all the parts so I have my fingers crossed. George Asche out of Venus PA rebuilt the engine and overdrive and Hundley Acuff did the running boards. Both did excellent jobs. Has anyone purchased a new wiring harness for a coupe and have any recommendations?
