  7. The following 1903 Mercedes Simplex data plate with enclosed photo of it and documentation will be posted on Ebay in the next 24 hours for a 10 day auction: I have decided to put up for auction one of my prized possessions, with the sad realization that I won't ever find the rest of the car!! I bought this HEAVY brass 5 inch X 4 inch Mercedes automobile auto data plate at an auction about a decade ago,for $800.00. I am posting it no reserve, beginning at what I paid for it. It should probably be with the Daimler Benz Museum in Germany,or with the Veteran Car Club of Great Britain, originators of the London to Brighton Run for veteran cars in England. In 2003 I wrote to the Daimler Benz historical research people in Germany, and got the enclosed email back. I JUST got it translated this week, for Ebay posting. As you can see from the information on the data plate, and the enclosed email, the car this data plate was attached to a vehicle imported into the USA for distribution by Daimler Manufacturing Company New York agent C.L. Charley. Further,if you look at the serial numbers in the VCCGB registry of 1902-13 Mercedes, you can see that in all likely hood car or engine number 823 was built in 1903,and probably was attached to a Mercedes Model # 18 PS,which appears to be a four cylinder car of either 18/22 H.P. or 18/28 H.P. If you had the rest of a 1903 4 cylinder Mercedes of this model,it would bring over one million dollars in today's market! Sadly this is all that is probably left of this wonderful car. HOWEVER maybe someone have the car that this plate goes to somewhere in the USA or England. Please put the word out with Mercedes collectors. Anyway, this is the closest most of us will come to owning a car of this stature. If you collect 1900 1901 1902 1903 1904 1905 Panhard,Daraacq, Rolls Royce, brass era, horseless carriage cars, this plate is for you! Winning bidder will get the data plate Fed Exed to them free of charge in the lower 48 states. Overseas buyers will pay for shipping of the plate. Any questions call or email me below,or through the Ebay auction. Good Luck! George Albright,Ocala,Fla. cell 352 843 1624 Email: gnalbright@gmail.com
  8. Dear Friend What would you take for the complete front axle assembly and springs. I do not need the wheels. Thanks,George Albright,Ocala,Fla. email gnalbright@gmail.com
  9. Up for Ebay auction # 260372514221 is one of the neatest cars I have EVER seen, let alone owned! This started out as a 1947 Crosley with the desirable later cast iron block motors. Sometime in the 1950s someone removed the original body and built this funky but stunning woody-bodied show car. Little is known as to who did it, other than I believe it was done in upstate N.Y. Superb quality work and condition all over, top to bottom. It was dry stored for decades in a barn in the upstate, and restored in the 1990’s to its current condition. After restoration, it had then in turn been stored in a car collection since its 1990s until now. I bought it several months ago, and brought it from N.Y. to Ocala, Fla. It has amazing jointed woodwork all over, and reminds me of a mini Chrysler or Ford Town and Country woody convertible! It runs ok but needs to have the gas tank and gas lines cleaned due to storage. I suggest a mechanical going over, due to its long storage. This car has drawn a crowd wherever it went, and was shown at the national Crosley meet years ago. I had to have it, but have since bought a collection of 1930’s Sprint Race Cars, and I have decided to go vintage racing. It is as clean in person as it is in these photos. Not perfect-but VERY nice! Twice as cool as a Crosley Hot Shot! Plus if it is in a 1950’s car magazine, which it might be, then it’s worth big bucks! Reserve price of $6,900 is less than what I paid for it. A wooden teardrop trailer would be a KILLER piece to tow behind this car!!! Do NOT bid if you are not going to take care of this car! Lots of photos available by email-just request them. I will help arrange shipping. Clear Fla. Title. Must receive full payment 7 days after auction, and car must be moved in 30 days. Good Luck!! Owner: George Albright, Ocala, Fla. cell 352.843.1624 Email to request more photos: gnalbright@gmail.com, or thru the posting party.
  10. Up for Ebay NO RESERVE auction # 260371647348 is what I believe is a 1903, 1904, 1905, 1906 one cylinder horseless carriage brass era Cadillac spring set, and both of the rear axle adjustable radius rods. I do not know if they were the same on the American Ball Bearing and Weston Mott rear axles, which were used by Cadillac during this time period. I bought these in 1994 from the Jim Lynch collection in Canton, Ohio. These parts have been in dry storage since the 1940s. Out of the same shed I bought a 1906 Cadillac touring, and a 1903, 1904 and 1906 Cadillac engine, ALL of which were sold at Hershey the following year. This was missed and found in my trailer this week. Sorry, NO other Cadillac items! There is a barely legible tag on the spring that says this is from a 1903 Cadillac, attached. All parts have some of their original yellow/green paint and pin strips on them. Again I think I have stated correctly what these parts go to, but you buy as is. The 4 leaf springs are 1 3/4 inches wide, and 35 3/4 inches from center to center of the bolts that hold the springs together at either end. The 2 radius rods are approx. one inch in diameter, and approx. 26 1/3 inches long from either end of the eyebolts. They obviously can be adjusted slightly in and out, to accommodate /change the track of the rear axle. Shipping is a flat $38.00 to the lower 48 states. These parts might also work on Ford, Olds, Oldsmobile, Reo, Northern, etc. Email questions to gnalbright@gmail.com. Good Luck! George Albright, Ocala, Fla.
