  1. Here are some pics of my 1934 LaSalle survivor car. I've had it for over 20 years now. All original paint, upholstery. My friend Jim Griffin and myself did an engine job in the car overall. Rings, Valves, bearings, starter, generator, water pump, fuel pump, etc. It's a wonderful driving car. Much better handing, steering, driving, and comfort than my 1934 Chrysler Airflow Coupe. I wish the LaSalle had an overdrive and a few more horsepower like the Airflow. I am the 3rd owner. I bought the LaSalle from John (Bud) Sullivan Jr. and his wife Phyllis Sullivan. It was their honeymoon car in the 1940's. Bud was a gear head and had many cars and motorcycles over his lifetime. The LaSalle made a couple trips to the Indy 500 over the years. Here are some pictures when I first saw the car, some vintage pictures. Notice the dent in the right rear fender in 1940 is still there. The car did polish up very nice. The best part of this story because of their car, I became good friends with this wonderful WW2 couple from the greatest generation. They became like my 2nd parents. My parents are gone as well as Bud and Phyllis are gone now. I will never forget their friendship. I think we are getting down to about 150,000 WW2 survivors now. Let's never forget that generation when this country was good & great.
  2. In the mid 20's Packard used the Skinner Rectifier. Also, Stutz and Willy's Knight. Maybe other car mfg.
  3. I believe that John also owned the 20 Grand Duesey. Many great cars left Minnesota years ago.
  4. The Raymond Loewy design 1933 Cycle Fender Hupps, the hood went all the way back to the windshield and over top of the cowl. 1932 Loewy Hupp only went back to the firewall

  6. West, Only 10 CW Custom Imperial Airflows have survived. Only 2 body styles. Either 8 passenger Sedan, or 8 passenger E.D.L. 3-1934's including one of them being the Century of Progress, Chicago Worlds Fair car. 4-1935's including one with wrong hand drive in New Zealand. 1-1936. 3-1937's.   7. Steve That car might have been the Jamison Car and was too far gone I think to be restored. I think the engine was long gone. Many of the parts from that car has been used to restore other 1934-1937 CW's Jim
  8. West, the Major Bowes CW Custom Imperial is a 1937 model. It was saved and restored by the late Frank Kleptz. All the CW engines were build in 1934. When Frank restored the car the original engine was long gone. The engine in the Major Bowes car is from a 1935 CW. The 1935 CW where the donated engine came from, has been somewhat restored with an incorrect 1933 Custom Imperial CL and is in the Chicago area now. Only 3 CW's were built in 1937. Major Bowes, Milton Hershey had one, believed to have gone to the WWII scrap drive, but the 2 fender shirts did survive, and the other 37 CW is owned by the Phillippine Govt and has somewhat restored.   10. Many original Packard"s did not have the date delivered, and the name of the Packard Dealer stamped on the serial number plate.

  15. Never seen one of these let alone a pair. Would look great on that survivor Brass era car, or Nickel era car running boards as is. Or easy to restore for that show car. Solid Wood body. Just paint, add 2 new leather straps on top & front, and plate the 4 corners on each trunk. No rot on either one. Super Solid. Just looks crusty in the pics. With new paint will look like new. If you do a lot of car tours with your car these will really come in handy. Modoc or Snapper tours or HCCA. Never enough space with these old cars to store items when traveling.   18. Thanks Walt !!!! My friend doesn't have any literature for this car. Its been in storage for over -50-60 years and hasn't run since then. It's in Super Shape. They called the model I believe the "Foredoor Roadster". A chummy style body with 4 doors instead of 2 doors. It also has a trunk built into the body with the spare on the back. Jim

Are there any Haynes experts he could in touch with in order to get his Haynes back on the Road. He might be interested in any engine parts, headlights, any parts. Thanks in advance for any info. Jim
