  1. Thanks for the information on the contact breaker point gaps. Concerning ignition timing. We agree with KenG's conclusions that a 2 degree advance was not enough, 20 works better. We are now wondering if there may be a misprint in some of the manuals. Thanks for the detailed write-up, appreciate the time you spent responding. LShort
  2. BINGO, you were right .017 is the winner (per KBeach .022 - .025 for plug gaps) Thanks for your help. LShort
  3. We found the breaker points gaps to be .017. It is a dual-ignition and the points are synchronized. Found the firing order on a plate on the valve cover, so thanks for your advice about another method for determining the firing-order - hadn't thought of that before. I'm currently reading "The Splendid Stutz" and read that in 1929 it's estimated 1,000 6-cylinder and 250 8-cylinder Blackhawks were sold. Thanks for taking the time to share info and suggestions, what a great forum for communication this is. LShort
  4. KBeach (member) called and had a manual identifying the breaker points gaps to be .017 and we found this setting to work very well - resulting in increased horsepower. Original breaker points gaps were .025 and .032. As for ignition timing we agree the spark advance is more like 20 degrees vs 2 degrees. We learned, through trial and error(s), that greater timing advances did result in greater power output. The original timing was too delayed. Thanks for responding. LShort

  6. What is the gap setting for a dual ignition, 6-cyl 1929 Stutz 2 passenger Blackhawk? Also, what is ignition timing? Spark plug gap? What is the spark plug firing order? Where could I find owner and technical manuals/info? Appreciate any assistance. Stutzgal
