  1. When I turn the headlights off, and then the switch to off, the parking lamps stay on, along with the running lights on the back. I push the button to turn the lights off again and I hear a small click in the fuse box, but the parking lamps stay on. My current solution is a removed fuse, but that's not exactly a long term fix. I need to know what the problem might be. I was thinking the actual switch controlling the lights, but it turns the headlamps off just fine... Any help?
  2. Thanks for your response. Can you advise on how you re-calibrated? If that is an option to make the car run cooler, I would like to explore that.
  3. I could use some help, if anyone has ideas please respond. I'm thinking it might be the thermostat.
  4. About a year ago my compressor seized up and I removed it and bypassed the site with a different belt. It has been fine since then, usually runs along at 195. Last week I had the radiator off for a crack repair and flush. It ran at 195 until today, when it began fluctuating between 203 and 212. I checked out my coolant fans with the override procedure I found in the archives, and they ran OK. I have a current code of B447. Fans operate when temp reaches 214 but do not run otherwise. Because of the increase in temp I was wondering if this is normal.
  5. Can anyone help me? I have a 89 Reatta that the compressor bearing seized up on. I am trying to sell another car to effect repairs on the Reatta, so til then the mechanic advised me to use a shorter belt to bypass the AC compressor. Has anyone ever done this? I would like to know the measurement of the belt I should buy, rather than taking a handful of belts out to the car and trying them.... There is a label under the hood that seems to show how to route it without the compressor - it has the words "no AC" on it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much to all that replied - we were able to put the 72.5 inch belt on, and it works just fine. Now I can save up for that compressor replacement job! I am so glad we have this forum to share ideas. Thanks for all your expertise! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  6. Thanks to all of you who offered advice - I'll try to answer some of the questions. Mine is claret (burgundy?) on exterior and interior. We are located in upstate South Carolina, so I don't guess the Reatta owner in Wisconsin would want it! Who is Jim Finn, that someone mentioned? Is he a parts supplier, and how do I contact him? I really appreciate everyone's help. (I would try to attach a picture, but the last time I tried, I gave up after several attempts!)
  7. My 89 was rear-ended and the insurance co. wants to "total" it, because they say the cost of fixing is more than the value. Anyone want to venture an opinion on the value? 149K miles, between excellent and good as far as condition. The only two problems it has are the AC doesn't work (turns itself off because of low coolant) and the ABS brake light is on. No rust showing, interior is really nice. I am looking at salvage places for bumper and related parts, also need a taillight lens.... Thanks for any advice you can give.
  8. Great shape, burgundy/burgundy, 145K miles, power seats, sunroof, display screen works great, South Carolina car, photos on request. $6500
  9. Can you re-use the caliper mounting bracket bolts if you loc-tite and torque to 83 foot pounds?
  10. Thanks for your help - I got the good ones. Since my first post, I have found that it's my brake pads. My rotor is worn, and I got one to replace it. Here's my question: where can I get replacement bracket mount bolts? The documentation pages say don't re-use them. Any advice? Thanks.
  11. On my 89 Reatta, I have replaced both front calipers a couple of months ago. All went well until today when I experienced the same problem as before: the passenger front brake drags after a normal stop. It did stop after I stopped for a second and let it cool down. What could cause this and how hard will it be to fix?
  12. Yep, we already had the front end up and checked the tie rods, and everything. As far as we can tell, it looks OK. We drove the car toward someone who watched the road wheels, and they did not wobble. Could this be in the steering box?
  13. 89 Reatta with 140K miles has developed "wobble" in steering wheel. The wheel moves back and forth from about 11 oclock to 1 oclock at low speed, without changing the direction of the car. At higher speed, the movement gets more rapid, but moves less, back and forth in about a three inch track, say from twelve oclock to one and back. I have had someone look at the car as I come toward them, and they don't see the tires wobbling. What's up? I would like to know some possibilities, and also if I may be able to troubleshoot/repair. Thanks much.
  14. Just purchased 1989 Reatta with 130K miles. Car runs fine, gauges show car is running fine, oil pressure 55, battery 13.5, temp 180-195. When you go into diagnostics, every system says low or problems. (Example, I just had oil changed, but it says oil is low. Fuel says low, with 3/4 tank showing on inst.panel. Temp is cool, but diag. says it's overheated...) Please advise.
