  1. Sounds like your internet is broken! Try a different browser? That works for me often.
  2. perhaps this will help - I can't read the original post for some reason. https://www.libuickclub.org/buick-engines
  3. Here's an interesting Rainman yellow 1949 76C convertible for sale via auction. Ends June 23 - GB Time https://themarket.bonhams.com/en/listings/buick/76c-roadmaster-convertible-coupe/6d8ffc3f-e761-42bd-bdda-381ac16bcd70?status=live I have texted a fellow that went to England to see it and he says it looks great but has issues as described in the Bonham's website. He said the Dynaflow barely worked to back up and needs attention. The window hydraulics recently pooped out, Door handles not installed. Some minor carpet issues. But the paint, chrome and some other things were great. FYI - I texted with the ladies that inherited it from dear old Dad after seeing it on Facebook 1949 Buick Club. BUYER BEWARE but I thought the group would like to see it.
  4. Very cool. That's what my ol' Dad used to refer as a "strip-down". His older brother made one from a Chevy back in the early 30's. Take off all the weight to get that extra MPH.

Jazz man - we have a very hard to find Buy and Sell Forum for this Buick Club where you should put your WTB post. No one knows why it is so hard to find but it is. Perhaps the answer to this Buick Forum mystery will be revealed one day but don't hold your breath. https://forums.aaca.org/forum/12-buick-buysell/
  6. Thanks, Bob - I saw that one. $20 with shipping for one. I think I'll try a piece of springy wire!
  7. I lost the little spring clip that fixes my round steel "Roadmaster" badge to the front bumper of my '49. What have you folks used to keep yours in place instead of the little spring steel clip?
  8. Ooh boy, to restore or not to restore or maybe even just destroy?! Please do not cut it up. Having tackled a car in this shape, I would say, get something you really love to put the amount of time and money into to get it going. You don't live forever. I would never do a four door - four slams = no clams is the old edict - and it holds true for 99% of the cars. Value? $2000? It's not a desirable model in my humble opinion but it could bring that if the right buyer came along. There are others in the club with better ideas on that than me. Tell your friend to put it on Craig's List and it will magically disappear from his garage and a certain amount of money will appear in his hand.
  9. Gasoline cuts the varnish, goo and gunk as would any similar solvent. Not sure what FOD might be though.
  10. That is one un-inspired design. I love older Buicks but everything after 1973 is mundane. No one else here thinks much of this design either, udging by the lack of replies to the post.
  11. Attached are some shots of the insulation under the hood of my 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible. I believe these to be original as from the factory. The two cowl pieces are in place still. The driver's side hood above the engine has two bats of insulation. One is in place and the other long narrow piece towards the center-line fell off but you can see where it was. The passenger side had one piece and it came off but I photographed it in img-0383 and img-0385. It measures 26.5" (along the center-line of the hood) x 25.5" x 27.5" x 21" if you care to make a new one. The cowl pieces are identical and measure 26" x 5" x 26" x 3.5". I can measure the other side later if you want but was in a rush. I am not certain what was on the sticky side of the insulation but it was thin and perhaps a paper material. It has degraded but you can see the pattern sort of like an old metal patio table top. It is definitely fiberglass insulation. I have a video but it is apparently too long to post. 49's RULE!
  12. People driving the Buicks stayed in the motor lodge!
  13. I got some other photos and it's a quality restoration. Located in England. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1810178382590569/permalink/3130612813880446/
  14. There is a very original 1941 Buick convertible on a Face Book market place site now. $15,000. https://www.facebook.com/165699493631404/posts/1834407900093880/?d=n
  15. Joel - thank you so much for the reply. That may be original, it may not but it looks like it certainly works.
  16. SBRMD - I can send you a photo of mine - it is an off-white batt type with a paper backing that was glued in sections under the hood - not a blanket or pad. Mine is original and fairly intact and looks pretty much like 3" thick R-12. It gets dirty, oil soaked and then just falls off so you don't see it in-place often. It may take until next week or so.
  17. Suntree - A photo of the area you are describing would help.
  18. I believe what you are asking about is the firewall pad. They extend all across the firewall in one piece. To replace it, you need to pull everything out of the firewall that passes thru it in my experience. We did this during a total refurbishing of the engine compartment and interior in my 49 Roadmaster. It was deteriorated but I put off messing with it until the time was right and it was all torn down and it became essential to the restoration. You can get them at a few places but I believe most vendors actually get them from Quiet Ride Solutions.: https://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort~1~cadefjdx They look great but delivery is slow now due to covid bottlenecks. No one had them in stock last summer for a '49.
  19. Kestrel - I am curious what you got in your package for the '51. I paid $56.99 for 50' of door-seal weather stripping made by Au-ve-co. It is a very close match to what was on my '49 76s which I believe was original. I posted about this last summer with photos. The original door seal on the '49 sedanete is not molded to my knowledge. It was tight when I did the dollar bill test, as tight as the one on my 2013 Escalade. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CLAN61M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I have a lot of Steele rubber parts and they have what no one else makes but they sell this same rubber at a much higher price for the convenience of one-stop shopping.
  20. I don't think anyone makes reproduction windshield kits besides Steele and Rubber the Right Way. They each sell each other's products on their sites as do many of the old car vendors. So, Steele or RTRW may be the sole-maker but they each sell it. Have you looked at the Helpful Websites section of the board? I have researched rubber online for my '49 Roadmaster and found these: Clester’s Auto Rubber Seals - https://clestersauto.com/page/buick-cars/ Great prices on rubber seals - better than The Big Boys prices. Local: 704-637-9979 1-800-457-8223 Fax number: 704-636-7390 kclester@bellsouth.net Don's Buick Parts - https://buick.donsautoparts.com/store 541-637-0371 Note from @Dan O Has some NOS and used parts as well as lots of weatherstrip and seals for older Buicks. The website is poor and hard to use - they have a lot of stuff that does not appear on the site, like door seals so call. I eventually bought my door seal weatherstrip from a seller on Amazon and it looks and fits as close to original as anything out there.
  21. Can anyone tell me what this set up looked like? I have seen some for a 1950 on eBay like this: Is that it? To hold it flat to the floor?
  22. Hey, hey, hey - here's one from a 49 Super with the tranny in Colorado on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/175149175786 You can ship cheaply through Fastenal from one store to another. Just palletize it and they will deliver for $300 - $500 coast to coast. If your on a budget, here's another: https://www.ebay.com/itm/324776242918?hash=item4b9e2c2ee6:g:Ex8AAOSwZE5fCeK7
  23. $335,000. It is "THE" '49 Buick Roadmaster convertible from the film. Well, one of two, I guess. I'm amazed how many people have forgotten this film or just have never seen it.
