  1. One of my projects this winter/Covid-19 isolation was to put together a good replacement rear lens from the half dozen or so I've accumulated over the years for the one on my '90 blue coupe which has gotten quite cloudy and has sprung a leak. I've noticed some interesting parts of this system: The wiring harness is home to no less than 18 bulbs. For this discussion I'll only deal with the 12, 2057s as the main illumination. Three observations: 1) The end 3 bulbs on each harness have burn marks on the sockets and the bulbs are toast; 2) The sockets have an abundance of brown goo that
  2. Sorry Padgett, a bit over my head: Are you thinking the 1/4 watt is not enough to carry the load? How and what would I use to measure voltage drop?πŸ€”
  3. Thanks Padgett. So I went to my local electronics supply store seeking a 3.3 ohm resistor. The closest they had was a 2.4 ohm. So I bought it and installed it and voila!, the lights are out.πŸ˜„
  4. This is from page 287 of the Owner's Manual (not the FSM). Is this info wrong?πŸ€”
  5. Fog lamp bulb is # 881. Window brake light bulb is # 891.πŸ™‚
  6. I finally decided to change out the '90 steering wheel in my blue coupe with one from an '89 Reatta badge/Riviera wheel. Removal and installation went well. I cut off the air bag connector and spliced a 1/4 W, 4.7 ohm resistor between the yellow and green wires. From my research I thought this set-up would "fool" the computer to think the SIR was still wired in. However I still get the ELECTRICAL PROBLEM and INFLATABLE RESTRAINT lights on my IPC. Should I use a different size resistor? Thanks, S
  7. Happy New Year to all my Reatta friends. I bought a Reatta (1990 Maui Blue Coupe) 17 years ago. I still have it. Best decision I ever made. Except for asking for my bride's hand in marriage 32+ years ago. I wish us all a safe and kind new world in which to bring up our children, and an understanding and acceptance that makes us all Americans (and Reatta crazies). My best to you all, Stanley😊
  8. And don't forget Santa's elves!😁
  9. Thanks for your greetings Howard, my sentiments exactly. I was almost afraid you wouldn't make it this year. And I agree with Daves89; 10 years is a long time to go without owning a Reatta. I'd have withdrawals! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, eat well and stay safe!😊
  10. I installed a Fumoto valve in the oil pan drain plug in the blue coupe. No more hot oil on me or the floor. Or at least not much. Thanks 2seater.😊
  11. I thought you weren't a great fan of stock Reatta wheels. Somewhere I remember a photo of a pickup full of used wheels on its way to the metal recycler.πŸ™ƒ
  12. On Padgett"s advice I tried liquid electrical tape on a particularly bad (cracks and gaps in the rubber insulation) front wheel sensor cable. Not pretty but it works.😊
  13. When I first got my 'vert I had to replace the brake switch but I had NO brake lights.πŸ€”
  14. Cable on far right is from an '88 Olds 98 front, 39". Cable to left of that is a '90 Reatta front, 43". Second cable from the left is a '90 Reatta rear, 31". First cable on the left is a '90 Cadillac Fleetwood front, 39". Note that although the Olds front cable is 4" shorter than the Reatta's, the alignment of the hole/barrel is similar. The Caddy front has the same alignment of the hole/barrel as in the Reatta rear, although 8" longer.πŸ€”
  15. Painted muffler hi-temp flat black. I never did like the way it stuck out there.
  16. I always thought it was a right-of-passage for one to have hot oil pour all over your hand when you unscrewed the oil pan drain bolt when changing oil.πŸ€ͺ I've gotten it down to where I have the bolt completely unscrewed but still pushed against the hole, and then pulling away quickly as the hot oil pours (hopefully) into the well-paced collector pan. What invariably happens is when I pull my hand with the bolt away quickly, I manage to bash the back of my hand against some unwielding metal part. So now I'm dealing with blood and oil. After innumerable oil changes I'd like something dif
  17. I was just cleaning some fire smoke soot from the dash.😲 Thank you Padgett.😊
  18. I'm having a problem with my interior lighting on my ragtop. When I open the door the footwell lights and the door courtesy lights come on. When I turn the key to start the car the lights go off for a second and then come on again. If I then turn the engine off, leave the car and close the door the lights stay on for 15 minutes before they go out. If I continue driving, the lights never go out and stay on the whole time I'm driving until I stop, get out, close the door and wait 15 minutes.πŸ€” Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and stay safe.
  19. Here are photos of front wheel cables from a '90 Reatta and an '88 Olds 98. The Reatta cables are 43", the Olds 39". And as Daniel said the eye is not the same but will work. The Reatta cable is on the outside in photo #1, top in #2 and right in #3.
  20. I do have a few. Send me a PM and I'll mail you a couple.
  21. I'm pretty sure I have some. I'll check in the am and let you know.
