  1. Have a friend in Alabama restoring his grandfather's 1917 Maxwell and he needs a couple tires to make it a roller while he restores it. Does anybody have any leads? PM me if you can help. Howard Dennis
  2. Once again I have to say I'm stunned that 141 people have viewed my post about one of the most popular antiques autos ever collected and not one single response. Amazing! Maybe I should try one of the street rod sites? Maybe they will help a fellow collector out. I thought my Son-in-Law, as a new owner being introduced to a new hobby would have been met with a little more helpfulness like I was so many years ago. I guess it is a different time, different world. Howard Dennis
  3. My son-in-law just inherited a 1929 Model A pickup. We need someone to help change a front spring perch if we brought them the axle. I'd prefer someone who has done it before and has the tools. Thanks for any help you can provide, Howard Dennis
  4. Few years ago I put away both my 1917 Maxwell and my lawn tractor with ethanol fuel for the winter and both would not run come spring. The Maxwell's carb never was right again and the lawn tractor I couldn't repair without getting help from local small engine shop who stated most of his work was rebuilding carbs ethanol had gummed up. I later found out I could buy a new carb for the tractor on eBay cheaper than I could have the old one rebuilt! Sure wish I could do the same with the Maxwell. Howard Dennis
  5. Thanks this will be my new routine till I can get this tank emptied. Howard Dennis
  6. Thanks for responding guys, it's what I expected but hoped there was something that might reduce the risk of damage. Howard Dennis
  7. Having had ethanol damage in the past I try to use non-ethanol fuel whenever I can but wonder if there is an additive I can add to a tank full when I'm in a situation where I'm forced to use ethanol fuel? Thanks for any help, Howard Dennis

  11. Those pipe plugs suggest inlet and outlets for fluids in front of and behind some type of piston. My guess is they are some type of hydraulic ram, for what is the question? Howard Dennis
  12. Check out early 30's Buick taillights, just a hunch. Howard Dennis
  13. Stumbled across this picture of vehicles awaiting fares in Pawling NY depot. Can any be identified? Howard Dennis
  14. Tom, the majority of exhaust hanger rubber on our era vehicles was made from old tire sidewalls. Howard Dennis
  15. Supercub. I just checked my 1914-1921 Maxwell parts book and under 1918-1919 starter switch it lists (4) starter switch post nuts part # 10224 5/16-24 plain hex nut. It sounds like some previous repair involved winding on a coarse nut or a metric nut. I'd try running a 5/16-24 die over it again and see if it can be salvaged. Howard Dennis
  16. And that helps how?? Feel better now? Howard Dennis
  17. Mike, Thank you so much for going to all this trouble to help out a fellow antique car owner. Thanks also to everyone else who bothered to respond with suggestions and possible answers. It has restored my faith in this forum. Howard Dennis
  18. Don't know what else these may fit but thanks to another poster I now know these were used on 1938-1940 Cadillac Series 90 V-16's. Thank you all who responded with help and suggestions. Howard Dennis
  19. Don't know what else these may fit but thanks to another poster it was confirmed that they were used on 1938-40 Cadillac Series 90 V-16's. Thank You to all who responded with help and suggestions. Howard Dennis
  20. Have no idea what else these might fit but I did learn from another post that one place they were used is on 1938-1940 Cadillac Series 90 V-16's . Thank You, Howard Dennis
  21. Clickbait???? I don't even know what you re talking about?? Wouldn't my statement ( I've come here for years for help and information and have always tried to help other owners to return the favor whenever possible) acknowledge all the help I've received on this forum in years past? Did someone pee in your Wheaties this morning?? Howard Dennis
  22. You also failed to notice I wasn't the only one seeking this answer so what did the other poster do wrong? Did you notice you were the only one who go upset with my posts? Howrd Dennis
  23. Thanks for your help on this Mike, I really appreciate it. I'll send this measurement on to the shop where the coils are for comparison. Howard Dennis
