My company has several trailers registered in ME. It is reasonable, easy and you can set up for up to 12 years, I believe. I am in NJ and everything here is torture. Good for ME, making a buck over other states stupidity!

Ron, I have a pickup from East Alton IL to Harrisburg, but that may be too far south for you.
Trying to get an inop 36 chevy to the east side of Philly. I have a trailer and could meet you in Harrisburg, but only if you're going to be anywhere near St. Louis.
It is about a 750 mile trip and I'm willing to pay 500.

Wondering what the standard combinations were for 1937 Westchester?
Also, since these cars were so unique, did anybody just have them painted to the color of their choice? Same question for interiors?

Thank you David. Your input is always much appreciated. Concerning the transmission- is there any "full proof" way to get these to drive or is it always a crap shoot?
I have read that guys install transaxles from Toronados, etc. but am not quite sure what all the defects are. I guess this is why there were so many conversions in the 50's and 60's.
Again thank you.

Wood kits listed in the VCCA by several competent "woodsmiths". You can join at VCCA

I know this is a tough question- in this market, what would be a price range for a solid #4 car needing paint, chrome, interior, etc. be? A solid car that runs but needs to be completely gone over. Can anyone venture a guess? I am in the market for such a car.
Thanks in advance.

The Fall 1947 issue of Antique Automobile had a list of all the MERCER owners & cars. There were 15 known 1911-14 Raceabouts at that time, how many are there today? Only 2 touring cars 11-14 on the list.
I would venture over 25. As prices have risen, a few more have been found and "parts" assembled.

You should probably start reading the Mercer feature in Automobile Quarterly vol34 #3. Mercer's prehistory is not simple and direct, and probably there is much that is not known. The Walter was made by a chocolate machinery company, and Etienne Planche and Louis Chevrolet were apparently involved in part. Sharp Arrow is also a likely antecedent. It is unlikely that any remains exist of any of these cars, and little pictorial record. One of the Mercer owners in Sydney told me he had a letter from a man who said he had a Roebling-Planche, but when I spoke to him about it he denied all knowledge. The best people to consult are probably Tim Kuser, whose family weree involver with Walter and Mercer, and Fred Hoch. You may learn a lot by looking and asking; but the probability of finding anything is maybe not encouraging. Ivan Saxton
I believe Fred owns an 09 speedster. It is the oldest known Mercer extent, I believe.

Funny, I remember that ad as a kid! Believe the asking price was about 250k, which was a tremendous amount of money at the time. The ad was beautiful and the car was bright yellow. I remember a large brass searchlight dead center above the hood. Probably the most memorable front page of Hemmings ever!

I collect titles from 1900-mid 1950's
What do you have? Paying 10.00-40.00 each
Will also trade.

Forget Craigslist- bottom feeders that won't pay for what your Porsche is worth. Like the suggestion of the Porsche Club. Sure to be a better bet then auctioning. Of course, also depends how much of a hurry you are in....

David, that was cold....

Justin,
Looks like you know quite a bit about these cars! Guessing you have one or maybe two?
I'm looking at two cars this week and believe I will be buying one. Not sure which one. In any case, will update my posting when I make a purchase.
Thanks for all of the info.!
