  1. What does the "air dome" on the fuel pumps do? When I restored my 59' the air dome was missing and the threads all filled with junk, but the car ran well. I finally found one at either Fusicks or Oldsmobile USA parts. I finally got my 1940 Olds started over the weekend, but I was shooting gas all over the side of the garage! Lo and behold, the "air dome" on the fuel pump had a hole in it and was throwing out gas against the wall. Both Fusicks and USA didn't have a clue this time what a dome was. I plugged the hole with a 1/8" NPT plug, and the car runs fine. What is it? And can i keep it plugg
