  1. OK! I got your attention now. Time for some comic relief.. remember this one? ------------------------------ Well, you've heard the story of the hot rod race, When the Ford and the Mercury were settin' the pace. That story's true I'm here to say, Cause I was a'drivin' that Model A. It's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up; That Model A body makes it look like a pup. It's got 12 cylinders and uses them all; And an overdrive that just won't stall. It's got a 4-barrel carb and dual exhausts, 4:11 gears that really get lost - Safety tubes and I'm not scared, The brakes are good and the tires are fair. We left San Pedro late one night; The moon and the stars were shinin' bright. We were drivin' up Grapevine Hill, Passin' cars like they were standin' still. Then, all of a sudden, in the wink of an eye, a Cadillac sedan passed us by. The remark was made, "That's the car for me." But, by then, the taillights wuz all you could see. Well, the fellers ribbed me for bein' behind, So I started to make that Lincoln unwind. Took my foot off the gas and, man alive, I shoved it down into overdrive. Well, I wound it up to 110; Twisted the speedometer cable right off the end. Had my foot glued right to the floor; I said, "That's all there is - there ain't no more. Now the fellas thought I'd lost all sense; The telephone poles looked like a picket fence. They said, "Slow down, I see spots." The lines on the road just looked like dots. Went around a corner and passed a truck; I crossed my fingers just for luck - The fenders clickin' the guard rail post; The guy beside me was white as a ghost. Smoke was rollin' outta the back When I started to gain on that Cadillac I knew I could catch him and hoped I could pass But when I did I'd be short on gas. There were flames comin' from out of the side; You could feel the tension; man, what a ride. I said, "Look out, boys, I've got a license to fly" And the Cadillac pulled over and let me by. All of a sudden a rod started knockin'; Down in the depths she started a rockin'. I looked in the mirror and a red light was blinkin'; The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln. Well they arrested me and put me in jail. I called my pop to make my bail. He said, 'Son, you're gonna drive me t' drinkin', If you don't quit drivin' that - Hot ... Rod ... Lincoln!'
  2. For info ---- this problem was resolved under the hood with electrical connections!!!! I would say to the designers of the day that engineered this thing... one word... "KISS"...... Keep It Simple Suckers.. Why the high pressure electric pump I have no idea..... the manifold simply does not appear to need it. Nor do the specs on the fuel injection. A simple mechanical valve for tank choice is more than adequate. Two fuel gages on the console would have been perfect. I guess these guy's were displaced from the rocket science engineers and needed a job. Simple is always better! "Will"Iam
  3. Thanks Jim, I'll dust off my meter and see if I can find a schematic someplace. This is a real can of worms. <img src="http://www.aaca.org/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />
  4. This isn't an antique or collectible problem but I do see some good mechanics in here so I thought I would post here too. I'm dealing with a 1987 Ford F-150, 302 5.0 or 5.01 L with dual fuel tanks. (Short Bed) There is a selector switch on the dash for the tanks. No fuel is getting to the engine. I have two "in" tank fuel pumps, one exterior electric on the drivers side rail, behind that a selector valve with four in lines and two out lines to the electric fuel pump and then one line out to the engine. I can hear the electric pump work and stop after about a second from turning on the key. The cost of each one of these items is about 100 bucks each and I just need some sound opinions on what part to start with in the process of elimination. There is a fuel filter between the selector valve and the tanks -I removed it and replaced it for 7 bucks, that was a good cheap start but the thing still is getting no gas to the engine. I have a digital photo attached from FMC above that you can take a look at.
  5. When 'R' 'U' going to get out of that humidity and drive that Lincoln on the GRAND TOUR out here to the good life in the desert? Seems like that sucker should be in top notch condition by now. Just put your little "gal" friend in a chase car. Coast to Coast Pops, what a BALL!! All two lane roads... http://p201.ezboard.com/fnaturalspiritualistscenterfrm47

  9. Best idea (solution) I have seen is a concept called the "Autonomy" from GM. Check it out if you haven't seen it; http://p201.ezboard.com/fnaturalspiritualistscenterfrm47.showMessage?topicID=25.topic
  10. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">welcome J-Rod-53. Dry Lake. is that an oximoron? Lost Lake. Sand Lake. Hidden Lake </div></div> Hey I miss the "wet" lakes of Longwood, Just came back here from there (well Cassellberry) in 2002. Dry Lakes are real.. I remember a few up in Deltona some years ago. Here, they are nature made race tracks though!!! And, you can sail your boards on them as long as they have wheel's.. Enjoy....!
  11. Have a 6 cyl 3.1 EFI auto with air in the shop. Bad lower rad hose. Book says drain fluid, remove upper and lower clips, remove hose. Ahhhuhh!! May as well take the whole front end apart from the way it looks. Anybody have a better book description or idea what components need to be removed and what don't? Hardly an inch clearance to reach this baby.
  12. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><span style="font-style: italic">Shes a little short and can't see the fenders</span></div></div> Of course no one would ever admit to being short. If you can't find what you wan't - try a solid stainless steel antenna whip. Of course you'll need 4. Bend a little "J" on one end of the rod (hence J-Rod) and rotate it into the center of an appropriate sized hardened spring. Hot bright-color solder the spring to rod and find a non rust screw/washer.
