  1. Lamar, So do you mean they won't let you in the front door? If you are bidding on the 37, you are probably going to have to sneak in the back door after hours. Mike
  2. Hi there, I got a 55 Buick slide show and a bunch of other things on a video a loooong time ago from him and I really thought it was cool. Heck, I wouldn't have bought the slide show on how to adjust the brakes on my car on ebay even if I ever saw it was available. It wasn't the greatest quality, but it wasn't the greatest to begin with probably, Mike
  3. Keith, I will keep an open mind. Mike
  4. Keith, Just the video, and the promo pics on Buick's site. I hope I don't start a firestorm here, I just don't think it is either cutting edge or "retro". The two things that can help sell cars. And I'm not some speed demon/ gotta be two door/ gotta be rear wheel drive-guy. My wife drives a four door sedan instead of an SUV and she will be buying another sedan in the near future. I just don't think the combination of derivative styling and a dopey name will convince her to add another Buick to the stable. I simply don't like it. Sorry. Mike
  5. Brian, Thanks for posting.Good commercial. Nice Camry. Mike
  6. Clearwater, Do you actually want people to bid against you???? Mike
  7. Yeah, I know. I grew up in DC and hightailed it out of there in 1987, so I could: a) be considered a yankee be considered a beltway insider (yeah right) c) remember shoveling snow as a kid to get my 55 Buick Special out of the driveway, snow tires and all. (it was my only car for the last two years I lived up there) Adios snowbound folk, Mike
  8. See, I knew I was doing something "wrong". Thanks for the advice for MY second go round. And also, my garage does actually have a/c for summertime use. It was a used unit that I bought for $50 just in case you guys get the wrong idea about me and start asking me for money thinking I'm some high fallutin' , a/c in my garage havin', car stripped to bare metal payin', Southanuh. And Joe, you don't have the excuse you were trying to pass off on those other guys, get back to work. (again) Mike
  9. Joe, Yeah but they'll be tooling around with their tops down in July while we are all inside posting minor tidbits of interest for the other sad, sweaty guys. Mike
  10. OOPS, my bad. The A6 looks so at home on a nailhead and I'm so used to seeing the one on my Wildcat, er uh. Mike
  11. I love the fact that Mr. Earl got the long forgotten, and one of my favorites, "whilst" into the forum. Mike
  12. Sintid, Nope, that is a 1955 compressor but it looks like a brand new vintageair in-dash unit. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think a/c was available on wagons in 55. I was checking that car out myself, it does look really nice. Mike
  13. chriscraft, I got the stainless buffing kit from http://www.Eastwood.com. Basically it has all of the wheels and compound you need. Don't try to go to Lowe's or Sears, the stuff they sell takes twice as long and works half as good. Believe me I know. If you have dents, you need to bang them (gently) from behind with a small hammer and chisel or punch, backing your trim with a jean leg filled with sand (thanks for that freebie tip Dr. Pittman) and then I use my random orbital sander with 220 grit to actually grind some metal away. Then you use progressively finer grits, this time wet sanding by hand, through about 600, then buff with the black (emery) compound with the sisal wheel in the kit. Then, I think there is a blue stainless compound on the spiral wheel, finishing with white rouge on a flannel wheel. I think a pamphlet came with the kit but I got a book from one of the major mall-type bookstores called "How to restore metal auto trim" by Jeff Lilly. His book goes into much finer detail than my cliffnote version and I'm sure I will get other suggestions/ criticism from guys who know more than I do. Also go to Bill Stoneberg's site. I usually access it by finding something he has written on this forum and follow the link. I don't remember how much detail he goes into but his pictures inspired me to do my own buffing instead of farming it out, thanks Bill. Just take your time, and try to practice on your worst pieces first so if you do mess something up, you might have had to buy a new piece anyway. Oh yeah, I also use cheapie flannel gloves so my dainty hands don't get dirty, cuz this process is pretty messy. (And a dust mask and full face shield). I haven't figured out how to fix my hubcaps yet. After cleaning up my car, and my trim, and my chrome, and my upholstery... you get the picture, I realized that my hupcaps are seriously driver quality (but with fancy new plastics ). So if any of you guys have some nice ones let me know. The Kelsey Hayes wires just wouldn't look right on my Special. Yeah Willis, my wife just follows the gentle hum of the buffer and knows exactly where I am. No more gallivanting all about town. OK seriously, y'all get back to work. Mike
  14. Oh yeah, what the heck do I do with my hubcaps? Mike
  15. I have been up for the last week (til midnight or so) every night buffing the stainless mouldings for my 55 Special, which is currently stripped to bare metal awaiting paint. What I have noticed is that, unfortunately for me, I'm getting better at it so the first pieces I did (which I thought looked great) now look like dog doo compared to the most recent. No question really. Just thought I was coming to the end, but I guess I'll head back out to the garage. You guys go out and work on your cars and stop reading this stuff. Mike
  16. Yeah Don, 63 was the first year it was available. In the literature it says "full size only". My radio looks exactly like Phillipe's picture of the 64. Mike
  17. I have a 63 am/fm that i believe was the same and mine says Buick on the knobs. Mike
  18. Instead of starting a bidding war (cuz I hate selling on ebay), I'd like to sell these clear ducts from the package tray to somebody. They are in decent shape, a couple of cracks under the black tops (which I need and am not selling) and a few light scratches. I only washed them and haven't tried polishing them yet. There isn't any sun cracking. In the spirit of ebay I'm trying to be honest about the description. They would be best on a driver but I was going to put them on my Special as a show car, until I found out they don't fit the small series cars. Make a reasonable offer. Thanks, Mike
  19. Hey Joe, Does the 66 Electra have a quadra jet? I'll take it. Mike
  20. Hey 1966, Just out of curiosity do you have a 66 Q-jet? Mike
  21. Lamar, I got lap belts with the airplane style latch from julianos (mentioned above) for my Wildcat. I also splurged for their rounded mounting plate thingys (technical term, sorry). I'm considering putting some in my 55 just to try to be safer, although I doubt anything but a shoulder belt is safe, and I they just look wrong, and I've always worn my seat belt, and I just found the comma on my computer, and I like using it,,,,, Mike
  22. I'm going to snipe you in the end anyway. Watch out!!!!!!!! Mike
