  1. OK next attempt at resizing and getting it non-attachment style. (I'll give background info and other pictures once I get this down, otherwise I'll just have to post a bunch of attachments). Thanks Brian, I had a ball talking to everybody at the Nationals. I never realized how difficult it was to show a car. I washed it every night and dried it off three times in Batavia after rains. I didn't have much time to look around at other cars and I only went around to the vendors once. Mike
  2. I have no idea Guy. I just dragged my picture to the desktop and dropped it in the post. I TRULY have no idea what I am doing here. I will try again later with more. I didn't upload to the internet first like it said to do because the photo gallery seemed like it was taking far too long to approve (I know, he/ she probably has a job, I'm not slamming them). I also may try Mr. Earl's photo bucket. Again I have no clue. Later, Mike
  3. OK nevermind. I was overthinking it. Mike
  4. I'll try again Mike Has anyone ever done this on a mac?
  5. Dang Mr. Earl, I gotta pay for this one first. Talk to one of those guys with a real job . Like those poor sods you made work on July 4th. Mike
  6. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Now if I can just get her to wear something in Gulf Turquoise on her next visit </div></div> Ok, but my 55 is Cascade blue, Mr.Earl. Mike Pics to come as soon as I can figure out how to translate the picture loading instructions into macintosh.
  7. Hey Ted, Please pass on the fact that I will take the carb if he's selling. I have the manifold and the air cleaner. Thanks. Mike
  8. I would like to respond more appropriately. "Oh My!" This is much better than my first response since after looking at the pictures again (once or twice) she reminded me of Susan Sarandon in the sexiest role ever played in a movie. Annie Savoy in "Bull Durham". So I say again... "Oh My!" Mike
  9. Thanks Roberta. Yeah, it's the one year only qjet intake for a nailhead. I may keep looking for a 66 carb. Mike
  10. I thought maybe Old Tank would have logged on last night. I wanted to keep some of you guys posted. I talked to Willie yesterday and he said he finally got the correct axle shaft and got back out on the road. He made it 500 miles to just north of Little Rock yesterday. It'll be a long day but I bet he makes it home today. I can't make the story any more interesting than that, sorry. Mike
  11. Hey Roberta, I have a 66 intake manifold that I bought at the Nationals in Plano and was going to put it on my 63 Wildcat. Do I need to find the original carb (hard to find) or does one of the aftermarket folks have one available? I have looked at chevy guys carbs and they appear to have different linkage. Do I just steal the linkage from my carb? Thanks. Mike
  12. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">We will try to drive once again to Rochester. Its about 300 miles closer. Straight north of us. Seattle may have to be a fly in fly out trip. </div></div> MmmHmm. Mike
  13. Hey Keith, I met your son and his pals with the nice 57 in Batavia, but I guess we kept missing each other at the Days Inn. My dad is already planning the next couple of Nationals for us and trying to figure out a way to get us up to Seattle without driving. I think after all of the rain we drove through his nerves were even more frazzled than mine. I just want to relax for a couple of months without doing anything, I feel like a boxer who just trained for six months for a fight and won. Excited, but really tired. I need to clean my car later today and just chill. Again, sorry we didn't meet. Mike
  14. Hi guys, I was going to try not to post tonight out of respect for you guys still travelling, but I made it home safely. Over 3500 miles both ways. Today, I drove through the remnants of "Dennis" for over three hours. Man that is some serious white knuckle action with bias ply tires and a vacuum wiper. My dad and I had a ball and he is already planning our next outing and trying to figure out what kind of truck is needed to haul a trailer to Seattle. Hey...If he's buyin', I'm flyin'. Interestingly enough he mentioned that if Buick actually came out with the Velite or similar, he would join the BCA. This is coming from a relatively non car guy so it shows you how much fun he had. He couldn't see himself in an older Buick Oh well. I got a nice note from the Bugle asking me to write (ok, admittedly a form letter) a story for the Bugle and I think I will, but I wanted to thank Willie here first for all of his help and encouragement because without it I wouldn't have had the surprising showing in Batavia. Good luck Willie, I'll see you soon. Mike
  15. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I'll be leaving on the Fourth and following your route, so I'll be able to pick up the pieces. </div></div> I think I found a piece of a rotor and a burnt out clutch . I am about an hour away from Batavia in Hamburg at a Comfort Inn with free internet access so I can be a smart-a$$ for no apparent reason. I think I will try to make it to Niagra Falls tomorrow so I can take a good scenic picture to show later. I have been getting between 14 and 18 mpg, depending on AC clutch sticking on and speed. So far no real problems, but I believe after I get back, I will tighten something in the steering box/ centerlink area. I am really all over the place whenever the road isn't good. Other than that though, It is truly running great ( up to 75 mph for sustained driving). I'll check in later maybe. See ya. Mike
  16. Well, the lovely Mrs. Buick5563 uses Her laptop for Her work so I will have to bum one from these guys if I will be saying anything in the next ten days. I will be following both Willie and Bill, but leaving on Monday the Fourth. If I'm not needed for assistance before Memphis, my father (navigator) wants to head north on 55 and hit the Blue Ridge parkway, since he has seen enough of interstate 40. I'm cool with that. Today I'll be packing my car and doing some last minute detailing to get ready for tomorrow. Also, yesterday I made one last attempt at getting my AC to run right but I think there is a restriction somewhere causing the lines to ice up. Like Bill said in an earlier post, I guess I will have the 460 air conditioning too. Everything else is running well, so I guess I will be traveling more in the 7 am to 3 or 4 pm range. Mike "Take off like you know what you're doing" (Old Tank)

  18. At 8:55 p.m. this evening I finished the final item on my long list of things to do to "finish" the restoration on my 1955 Special. I still need to do a couple of touchup things but everything else is in or on the car. When do you stop???? I see every little flaw. These aren't huge by any means but does a $100k pro shop restoration have these minor irritants? I hope not. I did my best and will be showing it next weekend with my head held high. See you soon. Mike Yeah, I know all of my posts recently were bragging......yee haw
  19. I'll be leaving on the Fourth and following your route, so I'll be able to pick up the pieces. Mike
  20. Sid, I have a period correct underdash unit ( I think it was made by A.R.A. in Fort Worth in the 50's) that I had rebuilt by Classic Air in Fla. "Supposedly" all you need in addition would be a compressor. The guy I bought it from recommended using one of the new hot rod style compressors, but the original should work, too. I decided to add the original a/c to my car so I didn't end up using it. Private mail me if you think this would be good for you. Mike
  21. Um, yeah, AC harness. I can't brag THAT much, and Willis this is a Central Time Zone post . I might have to slam your fingers in the door (again) if you keep laughing Willie. Mike
  22. OK. Let me preface this by saying that I am a complete electrical moron. Yesterday I started out with a mess of a used wiring harness and a bunch of new wires all wrapped up neat in their boxes. I laid them all out in my driveway and nearly gave up from the get-go. First I spliced the old harness back together where they had been cut to remove them. (I can't imagine ever trying to do a new full body harness from scratch, stupid lucky Chevy guys ) I finally got everything strung together and installed. I started the car with a fire extinguisher at the engine compartment, one inside the car and one in the trunk. It worked without having to go to an electrician or dialing 911. Just wanted to brag. Tonight I have to get the ducts on the package tray installed. See y'all in three weeks. Arghhhh.......Must...stay...focused. Mike
  23. Yup. Take the two screws off and just look inside with a flashlight to see if it looks like the whole thang can go down. Mike
