  1. Or maybe it is simply... <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Thriller</div><div class="ubbcode-body"><div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: my3buicks</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Let's blame it on Roberta!!!!! </div></div> Well, with all the pushing and shoving, I wouldn't be surprised </div></div>
  2. All things considered, he is lucky nobody got hurt ( or worse). I've said it before and I'll say it again. I have done some really dumb things in my life and have been lucky. This guy did something dumb and lady luck wasn't with him. It's a sad lesson. I'm sure he was confident that it could be done. It clearly couldn't.
  3. I just noticed where you live. DONNYBROOK!!!
  4. I believe we could also say something like "First rule of Fight Club... There is NO Fight Club!" Everybody shhhh! It knows we are talking about it. Let's all just wander around, shuffling our feet, whistling nervously, maybe it's protecting itself! Just pretend it isn't there and maybe it will forgive us for making fun of it. Watch your backs!!!

I'll keep ya company "down here", too.

My entire family will be there this year, so I shan't be left to my own devices... Much. Wait a minute. My whole family will be there. Yeah, somebody else better be in charge!
  7. I thought of some more automotive related status symbols. Motor Mouth Cranky Tired New car smell Stubborn Burn out Chattering Dependable If we are going to have "advanced", shouldn't we have "retarded" too? Timing wise, of course...
  8. I would personally label you guys as "Jibber Jabber Members". As far as labelling other guys here: Willis - " Fastest typing member". Old Tank "serious member". A bunch of dudes "set in their ways members". Buick5563 "FOS member". Some if you guys need to be called "welcome to the forum members"
  9. I'm going in my 55. My folks, wife, and son will be going "with" me following behind in my dad's new Impala. They will all be taking turns with me in the 55. I'm planning on arriving on Thursday evening and finding some good grub with you delinquents. Hopefully Peyton will bring his credit card again and feel generous after a few libations! The only thing I have to so other than minor tuneup things is add some back seatbelts for The Woodster...
  10. Just to verify the original question. Were these options? I don't know 56's like I know 55's. I just have heard about the J bars in other posts. They always sound like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster. Also, did you use an existing bumper bolt hole to mount them or was there a completely different bumper if this option was ordered? Thanks.
  11. Charles, Make sure you get to the BCA forum breakfast for a meet and greet.
  12. Thanks Roy, I knew you would be on it. Just curious. I wanted to make sure I actually registered this year
  13. That looks spectacular, Leif. Did you happen to take pics while you were doing the fabrication? That would be a useful article in the Bugle (or at least in the post war section here) due to the apparent rarity of those parts.
  14. Howdy, I was going to register for the meet after filling out the application for BCA membership for the guy who bought my Wildcat (insert money where mouth is smiley here). I realized that I can't register for the National online. I guess I'll register the old fashioned way. Roy, is there a way to set up online registrations for the Nationals next year?
  15. I believe those are the famous "J bars" that are so difficult (and expensive) to find.
  16. Yeah Dave, We are already mowing our lawns down here. That's part of my job for the folks I work for. I was on our riding mower for the first time yesterday, spent about four hours in the saddle. No edging yet, though
  17. Hey guys. Has any body ever shipped something as big as a floor pan? This is looking like a win-win for Rich and I if I can figure a way to get it down here. Neither one of us want it to get crushed...
  18. One of you guys should contact Tim Cox at Quiet Ride Solutions www.quietride.com He has fabricated several items for me out of the same plastic he makes those firewall covers from. Then you could undercoat or otherwise insulate a solid piece of plastic ductwork and be tooling around in air-conditioned comfort. Tell him I sent ya, and that you heard about it here. I love sending business to people who take pride in there work and do a good job.
  19. Paul, The problem with my car is that on 55's, they stopped sending the vents through the headliner and just had the plastic tubes coming up out of the back. My fabric headliner doesn't seem to be good at flowing the air from the tube in the back to me in the front, thus my desire to change to a vinyl headliner. While I have it off, I will also install some Dynamat in the roof for insulating purposes. Doug, I rebuilt the compressor myself. That was actually the easiest part of the changeover. All of the O-rings necessary are available from a bearing shop, as is the front seal. I DO realize that the 54 and 55 compressors are different, but unless there is a hard part that has gone bad, the rebuild is relatively easy. I also didn't install the fresh air scoops on my car...They leak. The judges at the National didn't notice. I have got to stop confessing stuff on here.
  20. A few more thoughts. Try to somehow remake those ducts. It sure would be nice to have the air closer to the back of your head than the five feet or so in a 55. I need to install a vinyl headliner because it seems that the cold air just goes straight through rather than shooting to the front of the car. Definitely something to consider if you need it, like say in Athens, Ga. Another problem I had is that the model 48 (2dr. Sedan) was the only 55 NOT available with air. As the system I got came out of a Roadmaster (I assume since the tubes were way too long for my car) there was much more fabricating in place. I couldn't assemble alot of it beforehand because it just wouldn't fit in the trunk area. Here I was, working on a freshly painted car, having to cut holes in the decklid, pulling the trunk torsion bars out, etc. For making the holes in the decklid, splurge and buy the right sized hole saw. Much easier. I also had the advantage of having a full-sized template (meaning another 55 with factory air) right next to me during the process. We still installed brackets upside down and backwards. Take tons of pictures for final placement on your pieces. The rebuild of the parts themselve were easy in comparison.
