Howdy Ron,
I beleive the car to a 1955 pontiac cheifton. the vin number is P755S19765
my understanding is the style number 55-2511
the first 2 numbers are the year . is that correct?

F/S - 1 NOS Unity model S6 6" chrome spotlight. this is a 12.8volt,50 watt,600,000 cp , 9" Gm code shaft
with a overall center to center measurement of 14.5". This light can be used for any 1950's,60'S OR 70'S GM car or truck.
This comes complete with the origional mounting bracket, gasket, collar, and a screw type ge H7635 Halogen spotlight bulb.
The chrome is in excellent condition no pitting.
The light has its origional Unity "Tag"
the origional handle is not cracked.
I am aksing $75.00 which includes shipping in the United States.

Found it! 1955 Chieftain 8, Serial numbers P-755S-1001 to 26879 are cars built in Pontiac, MI, with Synchromesh transmissions. Info came from my trusted Red Book. Nailing down the year-range really made it easy.
