  1. Jason: How is your project coming to create a sediment bowl top for an AC sediment bowl assembly? As I was cleaning one that I recently acquired, the top threaded section fractured while trying to remove the attached fitting. In other words, I will be needing a replacement top. BTW, my glass bowl OD is 2-3/32". Thanks, HB
  2. I've had good luck from these folks: old car lenses home You have to keep in mind that old lenses are not cheap! Good Luck!
  3. There have been a few discussion threads about 1928-1931 Dodge tail lights. I see pictures of tail lights with the word "DODGE" and others without the "DODGE" word. So, my question is: Was the tail light with the "DODGE" word an after-market product or were there certain Dodge models that had the word "DODGE" and others that did not? In other words, which tail light glass came with the Dodge DA Victoria? Thanks! HB
  4. Thanks for your diligent follow-up! HB
  5. Now that I received my 1930 DA build record and have had my original paint colors defined by name, I am still somewhat puzzled because none of the previously posted color images have my colors: Musketeer Gray, Ambato Green and Packard Ivory. Do any of you have these colors in your literature with a possible Ditzler or Dupont color code equivalent? Thanks.
  6. Please take lots of pictures and upload some of them. Thanks!
  7. Here is a photo of my "Body No." tag. From 2nd view you can see it is on the passenger side firewall, just inboard and behind the vacuum tank.
  8. From 1930's original post the "Body No." was not totally understood. From my build record, the "Body No." turned out to be the number stamped on the motor side of the firewall. So, as he previously suggested, it does seem to be an incremental Budd body number. HB
  9. Jason: Thanks for color code decoding. Of course I would have wanted to know this detail. I now have two requests: (1)Do you have the corresponding color decoding document in a format that could be sent to me?, and (2)Do you have any color original pictures of the 1930 Dodge Victoria showing how the colors were applied (upper, lower, stripping, etc.)? Thanks, HB
  10. Jason: According to CHC there is no decoding required. My build record looks just like yours. What surprised me is that my BODY CODE of 6004 does not match yours of 6006, which I assume refers to the 2-door DA body. Another peculiarity are our order numbers: Yours is higher than mine but your car was built before mine?? Our engine and car numbers are consistent with the build dates. The other numeric definitions appear to be just incremental reference numbers, not codes. What decoding are you looking for?
  11. I would like to add a cost update. I just received the build record for my 1930 DA Victoria for only $25 because no decoding was required. HB
  12. This 1928 1-ton Graham Bros truck was donated to the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum, located in Vista, CA, in 2005 by the Borra family, who originally purchased the truck for the Borra Winery in Escondido, CA. Later, the truck was given to the Borra daughter and her husband in 1944 to use one their farm in Oceanside, CA. It originally had a wooden water tank mounted on the truck bed frame. This wooden tank is still in possession of the winery family. They are planning to also donate the tank to the museum to put the truck back to its original working condition. In 2010, it was restored by other members of the museum, Bob Swaim and Phill Green, as a stake because the tank was not available during its restoration. The serial number is 112978 and the engine number is GB18199. I will be in the Vista area again in a couple of weeks, so if there are any other detail photos that someone wants, just let me know.
  13. Here is a recent discussion about Lovejoy shocks also: http://forums.aaca.org/f143/reconditioning-lever-action-shocks-250959.html
  14. Hi; Can anyone tell me what vintage Dodge (if any) this tail light lens is from? It appears to be from a '28-30 Dodge. Thanks. Old Dodge Brothers Taillight Lens | eBay
  15. Because I am a member of this museum and occasionally provide volunteer work I will be happy to get whatever details are available for this truck. My next scheduled volunteer days may be Mar 26,27. Can you wait until then? I will take more close-up pictures for everyone's future reference
  16. I've seen several posts about trucks lately so I wanted to share a photo with those interested in Graham Bros trucks. I came across a 1-Ton 1928 Graham Bros truck at the Antique Gas and Steam Engine Museum in Vista, CA.
  17. I have read several threads about how to properly adjust the brake shoes of a 1930 DA using the eccentric cams but I didn't see a note about the proper direction to rotate these cams. I think there is a recommended direction to rotate these cams to make the adjustments. In other words, I think I read somewhere that is it recommended to turn the forward cam counter-clockwise and the rearward cam clockwise, or visa versa (looking from the back side)? What is the correct direction to rotate these cams? Thanks, Howard.
  18. I don't have pictures of the correct speedometer for your Dodge, but I've attached a JPG file outlining the speedometer changes for early Dodges. Perhaps it will be helpful during your research. (RDH references Rodger Hartley as the source)
  19. Thanks for the tip, Paul. I do have the 4-CD set of DB News so I'll check out the issue suggested. HB
  20. Thanks everyone! I do have the Mechanics Instruction Manual and that book has the article I remembered seeing before! I did remove the old chain already because it was so mangled after it broke while the engine was running. I haven't carefully checked the sprockets yet for possible damage. I'm certainly glad that timing will not be an issue after the chain is replaced.
  21. I'm sure I have seen a article about tips and/or recommended procedure to replace the starting chain on an early '20's Dodge--but I can not find it. Maybe I dreamed its existence. I've searched all of the DB News magazines and this forum without any luck. If anyone has knowledge of such an article, please let me know. Thanks, Howard.
