  1. Yes. Look on the firewall where the AC lines hit the distribution manifold(big rectangular chunk of aluminum) see the sensor screws in that hasz a couple wires going to it? That's the' low pressure cut out switch'. Pull the electrical lead off it and bypass it with a paper clip shaped into a U shape. Does the compressor come on now? If it does DONT RUN IT LIKE THAT! This was only a test, if thee is low pressure in the AC system the LPCS switch is designed to keep the compressor from burning up. AC systemlikely needs recharging...
  2. IMO you missed some vital info for a 16V car, the color combination. If it's yellow/ginger/tan is has the lowest resale value based on what I've seen over the years. Yellow/black/black will net a bit more. Red does a bit better than the yellow cars and so does white(since it's an 89 its not a white car tho right? ;-) Highest value cars I've seen are the triple black cars
  3. Again, crazy kids... When I was your age I loved chrome and polish, as I matured do you know what I love now? Wrinkle black paint or powdercoat. Clean, classy, and stock appearing... You'll see in 15 or so years Jay
  4. Didn't you just put a buncha work into your car getting it the way you want it? Me thinks a good time to enjoy the fruits of your labor and drive it
  5. Hemi meant to say that the rest looks really clean
  6. I'm betting that Marty does because he has everything but it seems odd that you would ask for such in an April 1st post...
  7. Did it fix your problem? I hope so but if it didn't, I suspect the Speed Distance Sensor on the top of the transmission. Easy to replace with a with a single 10mm bolt holding it in place...
  8. What's the story with the yellow International harvester?
  9. I've seen a couple different senders, I think there is 'early' large metal body bell shaped senders, and 'late' senders that are a little more streamlined, have a plastic body and are a little smaller. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm propagating mis-information... However, they both have the same thread pattern into the oil distribution block(is it1/8" NPT brainy guys?)and can be interchanged as long as electrical is same?
  10. Neat! Nothing like a nice custom little touch on a newly re wrinkle coated and restored valve cover! Oh wait a sec
  11. Man, I hate that they didn't give us 3" more on those wires..
  12. It's pretty easy to remove the valve cover on a 16v motor, maybe 5 minutes if you sightsee as you go? It is nice to put it back together with new/soft/perfect gasgets tho. Did you See JoelZips thread? I think he still has some for sale...
  13. Progress for the GNX, New motor is ready, now to finish up a couple other installs and shoehorn in the new poweplant... It's been slumbering in my shop waaaaay to long
  14. Seems like the long way around the block to me but if it works for you You know you can shop for belts by size instead of application, which if you have as many motors with custom parts as I do is a much better option anyway...
  15. Ive had the staples in the bonnet strips (there is a word for those cross pieces but I cant think of it) wok their way loose and start to rub thru from the inside out. You can feel the proud staple thru the top when its a culprit.
  16. It goes in as a unit, assemble your old gear onto the new SDS and drop it in. I too took a few years 'off from cars', the first time when the kids were small and needed my time and the second time during the divorce years when I needed theirs life does get in the way but fortunately TCs are like old friends, they wait until your ready to interact with them again. You should consider all new fluids after a six year hiatus...
  17. Spend the $32. on a new one from RockAuto, install, save yourself the whole 'testing' process
  18. I used sticky on one side black weather strip on one car to cure the Breeze blows thru at freeway speeds issue. It fixed the problem but it's not ideal as you have to look at it on the stainless windshield header when the top is down. lesse of two evils IMO
  19. And to throw in here, I'd caution you about using the manual release over and over again on a regular basis, especially in the locking (pull down) direction, it is NOT a very robust assembly. I think the engineers designed it for emergency/sporadic use only.
  20. Did you see the turbo Neon/SRT4 manifold that JohnL put on his Ramerati build? It took some small mods and the Neon parts are cheap plus it moved the turbo to a better spot for access/service. All things considered tho, I'm a big fan of the stock exhaust manifold (it's actually more of a header tho right??) with some porting and 'collector' mods...
  21. I've seen white ones, blue ones, and yellow ones. Are there others? If so how many, does anyone know which gear has which # of teeth o should we start a little;e observation and data base?
