  1. SOLD !!! Going to New York, to a responsible, dedicated owner. Thanks to all who expressed interest!
  2. Sold the house, moving south, shipping costs are out of site! Also my arthritis acting up. So it is time to let someone else enjoy the Riv. Riv is in storage until May, but fully accessible. Here is a link with info and pix, email me for $$ and particulars. Riviera I welcome all comments and critics!
  3. A friend has a 50 DeSoto Coupe that he needs to ship from Chicagoland to San Diego in October. Most of the Posts on the AACA site are dated. Anyone have suggestions??
  4. Not sure if I'd go back again, I took my 69 Skylark in 1995. It was crowded then and it is probably more so today! Mount a electric fan and use water-wetter because you will crawl from 8 Mile to 13 Mile! There were many cars along the side of the road with steam billowing out of the up-raised hoods. But it is surely a great time!!
  5. I cannot find the Riv View that had the articles about the body fillers. Can someone just post the recommended company that Ed suggested??
  6. The power seat transmission plastic is disintegrating on my 85. I have 'MacGyvered' it, and it works, but not very well. Yards around here are a no go for and E bodies of those years. Anyone know of any other years that may fit??
  7. I have the factory manual. Tell me what you need and I will scan it for you.
  8. I am anticipating selling my 85 Convertible this spring, my health is prohibiting me from enjoying it this year. But, I need some background for my write-up. Can someone run a CARFAX for me? Thanks!! Larry ixlar8@comcast.net
  9. I have a 'almost new'1984-1985 Buick Riviera Catalytic Converter Walker # 15540. I mounted it, listened to it, then replaced it with a thru pipe. So technically, it is used, but not really. I paid $150 so I'll ask $50 plus shipping. email me- ixlar8@gmail.com.

  11. I had carb problems for years and had to replace the valve all the time! Until last year when Illinois modified the epa law, you could apply for an exemption from testing. A letter from my insurance company confirming limited miles per year and fill out a form and you get exempt. However, now Illinois has negated any emission testing for auto older than 15 years- IF they have passed their last emissions testing. Illinois figures that cars that old are not a major percentage of the emissions population, and it cost too much to process high emissions paperwork for older cars- so they exempt them.
  12. Can you tell me the name or type or where you bought this device?? Thanks
  13. I have an 85 drop top. I would like to add a key fob power lock and truck auto unit. I have examined several in the web, and are wondering if anyone has made this conversion. I am trying to add the convenience as I have on my late models instead of using the key in the lock. I just want to press a button to pop the truck or doors! Thanks! Larry ixlar8@comcast.net
  14. Okay, I found the box. Is this something I can pull and replace from a dealer? If it is not working, what are my options??? Thanks Larry
  15. I just noticed that the dinger/bell that indicates 'key in ignition' is not sounding. I have looked at the manual and found the circuit, but I cannot figure out where the relay or sound producer is located. I remember that the bell came from the general direction of the speedo cluster, but I have searched under the dash to no avail. Help??? Larry ixlar8@comcast.net
  16. It is probably the top motor or relays or the switch. I have the manual for the 82 -85 tops, so if you email me your address I can email you a copy of the pages on how to repair. You can also find the instructions of how to operate the top MANUALLY, yes raise and lower by hand in the Riviera owners manual. Larry ixlar8@gmail.com
  17. I had my cluster reworked to remove the 85MPH limit and fix the KPH/MPH switch by Casper Electronics. They do a super job and well worth the cost. Great turn around on the cluster! https://www.casperselectronics.com/Merch...;Category_Code=

  19. This just in... spy shots of Buick prototype being considered for Chinese market!!
  20. The Riviera 'R' does not appear on the Chinese Riviera, just the tri-shield. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/04/20/shanghai-auto-show-buick-riviera-concept-officially-unveiled/ It appears that the Buick name is more important than the Riviera. I have a friend who spend six months in Hainan Province, in the Capital city of Haikou on a contract job for IBM. He told me that Buick is considered the "RollsRoyce" or "Mercedes" of China. He was told that the early 20th century emperors used custom Buick Limo, so the Buick is the most desirable. This is why Buick is the most sold GM nameplate and why more Buick's are sold in China than in the USA. If so, maybe that is why the Buick tri-shield is visable not the Riviera 'R'. Anyone have confirmation info on this??

  23. I haven't seen any of this on our site, but I thought it might be good to post it. Read details of foreign scammers trying to buy classics, similar to Nigerian $$ scam: http://www.classicsandcustoms.com/discussion/allmsg.asp?SessionID=84127552461313&ThreadId=2012 The Olds email list has had a thread running on this for a couple of days. Seller has concocted alternate story to scammer to string him along. It is hilarious!
