  1. John Murphy - I would also like this chart, if you could send it to me. Mike Lynch
  2. I have oodles of original Lincoln literature , repair manuals , etc, but Nowhere can I find what the compression standard should be. Probably the same as a Ford V8 ???? I assume this info is in the same book that describes how to remove the engine! Never saw that in print either. (in original Lincoln literature) Mike Lynch
  3. Can anyone provide a closeup picture of the center "cap" that connects these two conduits? I am FINALLY to the stage of installing the rebuilt engine in my '41 Cabriolet and have misplaced this small piece. ... If I only knew what to look for!!
  4. I've been collecting all things "Zephyr" for years. Here's a few. How about 35 cents a quart for oil??
  5. This should help , I still had them in my files on this site from an earlier post. Mike

  10. ..........AND THAT SURE IS A TINY GEARCASE FOR THAT BIG OL' V12
  11. I am now getting very close to installing the rebuilt engine in my '41 Cabriolet. The transmission is completely rebuilt with all new N.O.S. gears , seals, etc. This car does not have the Borg-Warner overdrive, which requires a different rear mount. According to the parts list, it requires two bolts into the frame for this mount. No nut, washers, etc, are listed. Does the car frame have pre-set receivers for these bolts? I fear that someone in the past has drilled THROUGH the frame for thru bolts. ANY HELP ?
  12. These are my 1941 front engine mounts . Dee is correct in his description - They were supposedly replaced in 1986. Questuinable as to whether they are still good.
  13. Thank you Jim - Sure enough there it is on page II ! Mystery solved. Now all I have to do is trace back from 1940 to 1986 ! Thanks again Mike
  14. The reason I was thinking OHIO , is on the buildsheet , upper left corner after the abbreviated "Somer" it looks like a comma, then the letter"O". Also, if they abbreviated Somerville, it was because OTHER vehicles were shipped there. Mike
  15. Thanks, Tom - Those are the sources I got the aforementioned prices from. WOW!
  16. I am finally preparing to install the rebuilt V12 in my 41 . According to last price lists I have from vendors (circa 1995-2000), I could have bought the three vulcanized engine mounts for $185 exchange. Today I cannot find anyone lower than $550-600 for these. And no, Warren Rice is no longer in the vulanizing business. YIKES! Mike
  17. ....And Also Texas, Tennessee, New Jersey, Ohio.......... I am thinking there had to be a main Ford / Lincoln distibution center in one of these Somervilles
  18. I just dug out my build card for my '41 Continental. I shows that the car was assembled NOV 7 1940 and shipped Nov 11 to SOMERVILLE. Can anyone shed some light on this? Was this a distrubution center? Mike
  19. Just found this site . It doesn't mention Dan K. but Temecula Ca. is where I found my Columbia. Home
  20. I was able to shovel out enough to take two more pictures. When this car was purchased by my father in the late 80's , it had all of the controls, lines etc. , BUT the Columbia axle was long gone. I located and installed the 2speed axle in 2006. (THANKs to Dan Krehbiel) The Columbia Installation manual shows that the speedometer adapter was supposed to share a mounting screw with the steering cover. I assume that since this was installed at the factory that they did not follow this. In my opnion the hardest parts to find (ther than the adapter and clutch valve) would be the "double" cable : The "0" knob under the dash operates both the speedomter adapter and the clutch valve. Mike
  21. These are the pcitures I have of my columbia controls. I can take more recent ones ; but we just received another 3" of snow.
  22. I would recommend buying the Columbia manual for this. I have one for 1940 and 1941 and the diagrams are identical. Earle Brown has them $10 . If you want photos ofthe original Columbia hookup in my '41 Cabriolet I can send them. I aasume you have the HARD TO FIND parts, such as clutch vlave and speedometer adapter. Mike
  23. Thank , Jim & Jeff - I have never seen that type of hose before - I suppose there is a reel of it hiding in some warehouse somewhere. That cloth covering is something else! Mike Lynch
  24. I found one unused piece of the tubing I bought from George. I had not yet erased the black printing on it, which says: " MULTIPUPOSE 3/8" ID (9.5MM)"
  25. When I had my columbia "bulletproofed" in 2006 , I bought all the installation parts from George Trickett (Vt). George was meticulous about reproducing all the pieces , including the red rubber tubing., clamps and vacuum lines. I still have his 2005 catalog , he lists the red tubing as his part No. HB-4091; eight pieces for $9.25. I have not heard of George for some time - he maybe out of the business. He submitted an excellent description of the different V12 blocks built betwee 1936-48 on this website about 8-9 years ago.
