  1. Still need a regular gun and tip for some fittings.
  2. Period ad Proportions appear to be about 3 inches. Usually tires when mounted will have 1/4 inch less white wall showing than advertised.
  3. The picture (drawing) in the ad is a Century in the front and Roadmaster/Super in the rear!
  4. On one hand, (right or wrong) Skylarks get closer scrutiny in BCA judging than nearly any other car. On the other hand, those Coker Classic tires are horrible tires. While they are durable and look decent, the ride is very rough...more like a 6-ply truck tire! And the quality control is terrible: I had to go through 7 tires to get 4 matching white wall widths (varied by nearly and inch when mounted).
  5. Stay on subject? OK, I get it. Page 3 of this tread and 34 voted in the pole. BOD voting will have ended before a decision is made for: Should a new thread be opened for discussion of BCA BOD Nominees? (actually it should be BOD candidates)
  6. Original if hex; otherwise you should use a 'sending unit socket' on the new ones.
  7. We will never be safe with 3 more Texas Road Warriors. SS
  8. I gave up on those "trader cars" at auctions, dealers, craigslist, hemmings, etc. Most of those are detailed for sale, but have many issues to make them safe and dependable to drive. Count on 1-7K to get them to that point. If interested in showing, virtually all of them are incorrect and that is another 5-10K. Anything you buy from members on these forums would probably come with support, history, idiosyncrasies...the down side is that they would want visitation privileges. MrEarl will tell you to always find and buy the best example you can find.Silver
  9. Shifter plate and no console? I thought that just the cheap GM cars (Biscayne) came that way. Upscale cars like the Wildcat should have a console and tach.
  10. In Texas to get oil out of the ground you have to drill for it, and drilling rigs are very scarce (been declining since 1981). At todays prices there would be alot more local drilling and production if rigs were available. But then the government would dig up Jimmy Carter's "windfall profits tax". Right now the rigs that are in service are used to produce wells that have the potential to produce hundreds of barrels a day but not for some in my area that only produce 50 barrels a day. (50 barrels at $50 is still a chunk of change) SS
  11. Thanks all...the unit is at a local repair facility. If that does not work out I have other options now. SS
  12. Lost the battery cover for the remote key fob: 1990 Reatta coupe. Help! SS
  13. I had two stubborn clips on mine, one above the radio and one under the trip reset button. I tied a 6" piece of flexible wire to my "L" shaped tool, clamped the free end with vice grips and with an inch of slack in the wire popped back with the vice grips (slide hammer effect). It made some loud pops but came loose undamaged. SS
  14. Thanks but this thing needs replacement or major surgery. There are pieces of the taape drives loose inside. SS
  15. Now that I have the unit out, do you have any recommendations for repair? Any units for sale? I am looking for quick turnaround...local car audio shops have to send it off and say it is sometimes weeks before it is returned. This is the unit with the tape player and that what is inoperative. Any chance of finding a unit with the cd player? I count 3 questions here..let me know if it they should be in 3 separate posts and thanks in advance. SS
  16. Thanks all...now to get the tape player fixed SS
  17. OK, I got all four screws out and it is loose at the ends and over the guages, but is still tight over the heater/radio area. Is this where the clips are located? If so what is the nature of the clips: how large , direction (up, angled, horizontal), tool needed? the bottom is still tight, are there clips there? Thanks for the replies and thanks in advance... SS
  18. Hi All I'm new to this forum and new to Reattas. I have a 1990 coup that has a defective tape player (ate the tape and won't give it back and now the radio won't work). If I can get to the unit I can probably take it from there or come back here for more help. Thanks SS
