  1. This seems like a regular section of the Bugle for years to come. Should also include a "record" of sorts for those that are found. Also, what about the older Brewster (I think) special bodied cars. Incidentially, a posted a message about a Buick ('48 Sedan) converted to rail use (RR executive, I think)in MS. As we are gearing up for our Yankee car show in early June, I have somewhat let that slip, but intend to pursue more later. Anyone else interested in this use. John
  2. Willis, God to see your posting here, and I do not believe Mac checks this site. I have been waiting for Rotoblast to respond with some possible numbers, and where these are located, and if they would be for sale, but no response. For my benefit, how do you tell what series engine from the photos. I got excited as they look about identical to the 50 series. I will drop you a note on your home e-mail if we hear more. I also tried to send a private message with no response. Are you going to Texas? Not me this year but plan for Batavia in 2005 - seems for ever to wait that long for my first judged show. John Scheib
  3. Hello, It is hard for me to believe there are no readers in the MS area that find this of interest. I have communicated with people on the RR web site, and have some names at the RR that would tell us for sure if they would part with the rail/car. My plan, next week, is to start approaching some RR people in the NE who might be interested. Let me know if there is anyone in the mid-south interested in the car. John
  4. Rotoblast, The more I look, it seems there is a transmission and some other parts and those wheel hubs look like '32 Buick as well (but then again, a lot look the same. Can you provide a phone number, e-mail address and location of these parts and your name if you are interested in selling any of this stuff? I would be interested in purchase. Or e-mail me at j.scheib@comcast.net John
  5. Yes, The pictures apparently look much like a '32, as I have a 50 series. I have a suggestion, if you can locate and engine number, we can ask Mac Blair (who I believe does not frequent this site very often), as he is one expert and has many parts for '32 cars. Are you proposing to sell the motors, as I think there would be no trouble finding a buyer, depending on the price. Are their any other drive train parts such as transmission. rear end, hubs, etc also. I see what appears to be a cluth pedal on one photo. If you ave any part numbers, I will ask Mac Blair if he can tell more. I will also call, or e-mail him and he should be able to tell you about where to find important numbers for ID. Can you tell me where you are located and more info. I would have written sooner, put I could not get into the photos before. John D. Scheib
  6. Hey everyone. I am excited about this vehicle, which I am sure was once the pride and joy of the owners of this small railraod which ran, I think, between Columbus and Greenwood, MS (hence the name C&G)and is now part of a larger railroad. They had a Model T before and I understand in checking with those on the railroad website, and the T now resides in a musuem in MS. They were hoping, according to info I have, to donate this to the same Transportation Museum, but no room. Some of the train people are hoping to keep it in MS, but I am wondering if anyone else thinks this thing should be saved, preserved, restored if necessary, and hopefuuly with an active rail museum where it can be used. It would be an excellent joint venture project with a local BCA chapter and a not-for-profit rail museum. Maybe all we need is a few bucks from a lot of people to get it moved once a home is found, so that can be taking out for a "closed course" drive sometimes. Anyone in MS or around Memphis that is interested and has any ideas? Apparently this thing was photographed in the building in 2002, and last operated in 1990s. If no one else has any ideas, I am looking into some local rail museums, most with usable track that might welcome a join venture with a local BCA chapter, but we are in the Northeast (it must be cheaper than moving a rail car on a truck. 7. Bryan, One of our Yankee Chapter members has a few Skyhawks and worked for a number of years for a Buick Dealership. He does not use e-mail, so I am sending hime a hard copy of all you communications in the event he can shed some light on your questions. If he writes something, I will try to scan, or if you send my your address, I will have him write you a letter. You can respond back to me on my e-mail j.scheib@comcast.net John
  8. I am trying to join the yahoo group for more info on this rail car. Might make an interesting project for a joint venture between a car club and a railraod restoration club, because it would unique to leave it "on the rails". What are they doing with it now? We have several similar rail/trolly museums in CT and maybe something can be worked out if the group that has it is looking to sell it. Let me know if you find out more. You ca e-mail me at j.scheib@comcast.net John D. Scheib
  9. I have some interest, as well, and would love to see more pictures, and details of condition - it seems from your comments, it has not been fully restored, but most likely repaited. I am sure that having only owned it 4 years there is considerable history you may not know. You can also e-mail me more piotures at j.scheib@comcast.net and provide your phone number and e-mail address, unless you already have a firm offer. Thanks. John D. Scheib
  10. Bob, Glad you saw this. I was not sure if I had your last name right, and before I could look it up, you responded to his message. Rob is in England, as he wrote me in an e-mail outside of this message boared. I knew you had some other parts, possibly for a 1934. I also gave him Mac Blairs e-mail address for any small repro parts he might need. John
  11. In Flint, there was a '28 coupe parked next to me ('32 Sedan)with a story about there transforming it back to a coupe from its former status as being cut to make the truck. I think they were from WI, so if I get time, or someone else knows of them, or they read this, they should be able to help with your project. John D. Scheib
  12. I think I e-mail you but not sure it went through. You might try Mac Blair for any reproduction parts and may have dome new. His e-mail id buick32@adelphia.net Also a Mr. Waller in NH at (I think)something like woodgrainingfor us, who has postings here has some '33 parts and may have some for '34. You can probably find his messages be scrolling through this site. John D. Scheib
  13. I just wanted to remind any NE Reatta owners about our upcoming all Buick show. As in the past, we have an all Reatta class, and we had two drive from Maine last year, to get both a class trophy and longest driven award. So come on down to the beach. Check the Yankee web site, or e-mail me at j.scheib@comcast.net with your address and I will send you an application, or answer any questions. Or just show up. John D. Scheib
  14. This is just to alert anyone in the NE of the Performance Group that wants to show rather then race, you are welcome to our show. If you want more information, check the Yankee Chapter Link or write me at j.scheib@comcast.net and I can snail mail you an application. John D. Scheib
  15. I just thought I would remind those nearby of our upcoming show. You can refer to our web site or contact me for more information. Send me your mailing address and I can mail a brochure. Otherwise, just come. John D. Scheib e-mail at: j.scheib@comcast.net
  16. Michael, Many thanks for your response. I can appreciate your effort on this car. It is unbelievable. Having built and worked on a few hot rods and jalopy dirt track stock cars in the mid-late '50s, and been away from cars for a number of yeras, I find I have forgotten some of the subtle details in race car construction, and you have certainly made me want to look more at the Riv. Maybe my subconsious was at work when I fell for this car. I certainly will be studying more on the performance features, now that you have brought them to my attention. I will follow your pages and hope to make a visit to Watkins Glen if you alert everyone when you have it there. I know showing is not the primary purpose of the car, but I would hope it could be recognized at the 2005 National show in Batavia, providing it does not conflict with your race schedule. John
  17. Thanks for the help and glad you found out their purpose - those are also noted in my Service Manual. You are right, the original parts in packaging may be worth more then any used. I have not even taken the time to look for a rebuilt or replacement part for my problem yet, as the lights do "fail safe", but I would like to have them working. Thanks for keeping me in contact with what you found. John
  18. I was trying to find a way to make it to Elmira, from Hartford last weekend to see this car. Owning a '32, I decieded recently to acquire a '68 Riv for some later model "muscle", but this car now seems like a pup compared to this Electra. I am also new to the Peformance site, so I hope you will keep all posted anout the Watkins Glen schedule - I would love to see the car in action. Seems like you have a lot to do, but is there any chance you would be taking the car to the Rhinebeck NY show this Sunday?
  19. Ed, I only recently purchased my '68 Riv, and I have a service maual, but not parts manual. I checked my vacuum actuator for the headlights, but cannot find a number and the service manual does not list the numbers for this item. I will do some more digging and see what I can find for a number. In the meantime, can you tell me, as you mention n"cans", are these cylinders with anput 4" tp 4 1/2" diameter and about 5" to 6" high. They have a hose outlet on the top and bottom and a bracket to hold the bottom and the top has a control rod to move the headlights. If so, they might be for the late '60s Riv that used vacuum for headlight rotation. As I have one bad one, and if these are what you have NOS, I would be interested in a price. I have not yet determined what they are worth, and I have one that leaks, so I end up with a droopy light, as I am sure you have seen over the years. I doubt there is a right and left, but mifgt be, anyway, I would take both. Let me know. I can be reached also at j.scheib@comcast.net John
  20. I have not checked the number, but, by any chance if they control thge vacuum operated tilting headlights for a '68 Riv, I would be interested. I will check the number for the parts in the Service Manual and let you know if I can find anything. John
  21. Ad in Hartford, CT Courant for this car. I have no vested interest in car, except to see it go to a good home. Owner says "good" condition, but I did go see it. Too many cars/projects for me at this time. Car has been repainted, probably outside for a few years, some rust, dings and dents including a dent on right side rear, some bondo, some roof damage, missing two wheel hubs, but rest seems all there. I did not run engine, but he says it runs. If anyone interested his number, cell phone is (860)839-1716. I believe this car a bit rare, so someone might be interested. He is asking $3800/BO and it seems worth saving to anyone with an interest in this type car. If anyone wants to communicate with me, I will try to answer any other questions. John D. Scheib Asst. Dir. Yankee Chapter
  22. Well, if those sources did not have much info, I suppose it falls on each of us computer literate folks to go to our local meetings and ask some members that might be knowledgable on the Road Hawk. I recall seeing the logo and cars around, but thta is about all I know. I will see what we can dig up here in the Northeast. John Scheib Yankee Chapter
  23. Just curious. Did you receive an invitation to our Yankee Dhapter Show in New London, on June 6th. Perhaps that might draw some local interest, as we will not object to For Sale signs on the show cars. If you need an application, email me at j.scheib@comcast.net John
  24. I do not recall a "Topper" movie either. Does anyone have apicture of this car? John
