  1. What makes a 1927 model T pickup bed unique. I have never seen one and I am in the need of one. Anyone have any photos? Seen many beds for sale but I am not educated enough to know the differences. The bed will be used on a '27 T pickup, original title says it came from the factory as a pickup. greg
  2. I did talk to the fellow who owned the'54 green beetle. He did sell it. He also had an excellent Model T roadster he was selling. Sold the T also.
  3. Check for voltage at the coil with key turned on, 6V. Check for a good spark at the ditributor cap while cranking. Your distributor didnt loosen and move? Coil wire pushed all the way in? Fuel pump still working? Fuel can still be in the filter but not in the carb. Take off the air cleaner and look down the throat of the carb while moving the throttle, should see a shot of fuel coming out of the accelerator jet. If no fuel maybe float is stuck closed or fuel pump is shot. Also there is a fine screen filter in the tank that can become clogged. Its easy to see under the tank and how the line attaches, undo the line and unscrew the tap to get at the filter. May want to siphon the fuel out it will pour out. Start with the vary basics. Good luck, let us know what works. greg
  4. Auto parts stores carry a product called "Bulldog" It is made to be used over plastic before painting. I have always used it in a rattle can. I do think you can buy it in pints and quarts. greg
  5. I went to work for National Cash Register "NCR", while I was still in high school as draftsman in the OWE program. Went full time when I graduated. Put myself through tech school and then went on to get my bachelors at Ohio University, all while working the full time job. NCR job lasted for 13 years, and my choice was to move to Atlanta or leave, I left. Been working as a Outside Plant Engineer here at the local phone company, WIndstream, for 15 years now.
  6. Try taking your question to www.practicalmachinist.com website. Go to the general forum and ask the same question. There are some old time machinists on that site, that are happy to help out. greg
  7. Ran into one just about like this, this past Friday. I just bought an air compressor off of Craiglist, located in a sort of bad side of Columbus. After I loaded it I asked the "lady" if she had anything else for sale, she said she did, and it was in the living room. It was a 2004 H-D Roadking. She told me it was her husbands and he is gone now. I said I was sorry and asked if he passed or they were seperated, said no he violated his parole.
  8. Finally a German car forum, Thanks to whoever started it!
  9. Truck I learned to drive on was 3 on the tree. Does anyone remember the mid-60s Ford automatics, that once they were older the driver had to sort of loop their left arm over the steering wheel and hold up the selector to get get it to start. The safety switch got a little sloppy and would not make contact. I had one. greg

    Brass Casting

We are here in South-Eastern Ohio. I am asking for a friend of a friend who is building a street rod. Most likeley would be more interested in the PA foundry over the one out West. He is looking for someone who can do the lost wax type process. I believe they are inside door handles, for a '39 woody re-creation he is working on. Could you provide the contact info? Thank You greg

  15. Any lighting experts out there? Opinions on shop lighting, type, how much. Found a calculation that specifies you need about .63W/Ft sq. That doesnt sound like quite enough. Looking for new light for my garage, trying to balance cost/efficency/reliability. greg
  16. Bhigdog, thats what I am hoping for. What is exposed will have 4" of foam over the block. Bought the best insulated doors I could find. kuhner
  17. I started building my garage earlier this year. Here are a few photos, my first try. May need resized, but not sure how to do that. It has a 3/4 bath, a floor mounted overheadlift, radiant floor heat, and a pulling eye in the floor. The doors are on it now, and the exterior just starting to be finished. Tools, I have the usuall hand tools, a Craftsman lathe, and a model 40 Index milling machine, Lincoln buzz box, land a ittle wire feed. All this in my under house two car garage, with my beetle and my wifes car. Needless to say I needed the room. Did most of the work myself with the help of alot of friends. http://photos.aaca.org/showphoto.php?photo=9391 http://photos.aaca.org/showphoto.php?photo=9392

  20. I have had two that I really regret. The first one was a two owner '61 Porsche. It was pale yellow with red interior. I was working at National Cash Register in 1980 as a apprentice draftsman. A software engineer had the car, I would always park my beetle next to the Porsche when he drove it in nice weather. He knew how much I liked the car and when he decided to move back to Arizona he offered it to me for $1500. The car was perfect, no rust low miles. Just bought my first house and was making an $88 a month payment on a 1975 Super Beetle, just couldnt swing it. The second, one day a friend asked me to look at a car his grandmother was trying to sell. His grandfather had just passed away and she was trying to divide up things between the grandchildren. We drove up to Wooster Ohio after work. It was a Bently. I believe it was an aluminum body, two door and on the smaller side. I think she said it was a 1934? I didnt know what it was worth butI think she would have taken what ever I wanted to give her. Didnt have the heart to do that. I found the address to the Bently club and told them to call. Stupid me I could have at least maybe got a finders fee.
  21. I believe National Street Rod Association recognizes 1948 and before officially as street rods.
  22. Remember a few months ago hearing about a company upgrading your hybrid. They install more batteries and a charger for your home. The idea was to increase your electric mileage. The idea of charging your car from the grid from electric produced from domestic sources, decrease your need for foreign produced petroleum. Sounded like a good idea to me. The increased milage would pretty much cover me or my wife for most days, and we would be using power produced from coal mined by people who are our neighbors.
  23. Thanks for the help, that the info I needed. greg
