1. You said you changed the battery from 6 volt to 12. It is stock with 12 volt, negative ground '22 and earlier, positive ground after that. As for the fuel problem, if it still has the vacuum tank system, remove the elbow where the fuel line enters it on top, remove the brass screen and clean it. That is what happened to me on my first DB. ('22 screenside) It was plugged, would run a few miles, starve out, then after sitting for a bit the fuel would seep through and run again. When the vacuum tank is working there should be no need for an electric pump. Hope this helps. Dave
2. This may sound a little simple but have you tried adjusting the mixture? Also one can turn the weights over on the float bowl cover if they have worn flat spots on them, which has allowed the float to raise higher. Dave
3. I run my 22 DB negative ground. Works great. Early wiring diagrams show neg ground, later positive ground. Yes the ammeter would need to be reversed. Dave
4. One more try to get ahold of Miss Jane. Please contact me as I do need '23 parts. Thanks, Dave
5. Miss Jane, you left a post on my '23 DB parts needs earlier. Please contact me at dwollam@madras.net or leave a personal message. I am very interested in your 23 parts. Thanks, Dave Wollam
6. Miss Jane, please reply to dwollam@madras.net I am very interested. I sent a private message to you, there should be a flashing envelope above the forum next to you name. Let's talk! Dave
7. I'm very interested! I sent you a private message with my contact info. Drop me a line or give me a call. Thanks, Dave
8. Still looking for 4 or 5 tire lock rings for the 24 inch disk wheels. Also need a passenger door for a DB roadster. Need it for a '23 but will take earlier. Thanks, Dave
9. Anything after July 1st '28 would be considered a '29. Dave
10. fiery, I'm probably just blind but I don't see a classified section. Am I missing it? Anyway I don't see anything wrong with trying to move some parts to help support ones projects and where better to sell or buy DB parts then in the DB section? Not all of us are expert at selling on Ebay, I have bought lots of things there but have never sold once, though I need too! Just my 2 cents, Dave
11. Hey, I know a guy has a car just like this one! Good to see ya on here! Merry Christmas to All! Dave
12. Larry, is that 23 rear section round bottom door or square? Also do you have any split rim lock rings for the 24" disc wheels for my 23 roadster? Dave Wollam
13. I just bought a 23 DB roadster and am in need of some parts. Need 5 split rim lock rings for the 24" disk wheels, passenger door, and rear 45" leaf springs, and disk wheel spare mount for the roadster. Also looking for a right front fender for '23. Anyone got anything for me? Thanks, Dave Wollam
14. Thanks for the reply Bob, but that doesn't solve the mystery. As I said I have now seen 5 pairs of these wheels, All with DB hub caps and the exact same fellos. 3 pair are currently on DB axles front and rear in seperate locations. Just too much coincidence for me to think 5 different individuals changed their wheels exactly the same way. The 24" pair is on Dave Johnson's "yard ornament" 20 screenside. Still looking for answers Dave
15. 24-26 would mostly interchange. You could put the sedan body on the touring frame. Out west there seems to be plenty of rear sections also, don't know about your area. A 24-26 touring rear section should work. Dodge did have woodie or suburban bodies as well as someone else suggested, like Cantrell. Front fenders are the same. All models in the same year uses same frame.
16. I have been trying to identify some wheels on my 22 DB that all the Dodge guys have never seen. So far I have personally found four additional pairs, 3 front 21" pairs, my 21" rears, and a pair of 23" or 24" rears on a 20 screenside. There is a pair of fronts on EBAY now at this link... web page item number 4508729045. They have a different fello than the typical 4 cyl DB and only have 5 rim clamps. Come on guys! There has to be a DB wheel expert out there somewhere! Thanks, Dave Wollam Madras Oregon
17. Thanks Vern! That's the info I needed! After close examination of the shims we found lots of burrs and bumps probably from a hammer mechanic years ago that made the shims vary greatly from end to end. After carefully dressing them with a file they mike out fairly even. The rod with the odd wear on bearing had a lot of variance from one end of shim to the other which would have left the cap crooked. Now I can get an accurate reading on the clearances and mill the shims accordingly. Thanks again Dave
18. Rodger, I have that manual and I was pretty much quoting from it. I find no actual measurments in it. Am I over looking it some where? If so tell me what page please. Thanks, Dave
19. I have the pan off my 22 DB and the bearings seem a little loose. They look beautiful, so does the crank surfaces but it seems too noisy. What is the correct clearances for the 4 cyl, other than " just a slight drag", and "should not have to tow car to turn engine over". I have plasti-gauge and know how to use it, just need specs! Also one rod bearing has .0015 clearance on the lower rear of the bearing half and is not even wearing on the front half of the same bearing. What causes that? A bent rod? if so why is the top bearing half even? Shim filed uneven in a previous job? Or bearing just material just uneven? Thanks guys! Dave Wollam
20. Hey guys, any great ideas on how to clean a really grungy DB 4 cyl. galvanized oil pan? I was told hot tanking eats the galvanizing. I have the inside clean enough but the outside is really baked on. What have you done? Thanks, Dave Wollam
21. Larry, that sounds easy enough. However all I've been able to find is about a quarter inch thick. That isn't enough is it? How thick are they supposed to be? I measured 3/8" wide and guessed 1/2" thick. Is that correct? Also is the white felt better than grey or black? Dave
22. Where can I obtain felt to make the end seals for the oil pan on my DB Fours? The cork is easy but can't seem to locate felt. I know I can buy gasket sets but I have several to do and would like to make my own. Thanks guys, Dave Wollam
23. Have you tried connecting a hose to the pump and run it direct to a can or small tank? Could there be a line plugged or leaking or rusted off in the tank? I bought a pump for my 54 Ford only to find the line plugged! :-( Hope this helps, Dave Wollam
24. Hi. I'm in need of both doors for a 1922 DB Screenside, 1st series. Also need drivers side upright cab side and both screens. Any help or info appreciated! Thanks, Dave Wollam DBC Member
25. Hi. I have a friend with a 37 Dodge coupe who needed a tank. I found reproduction tanks available. The person I contacted was Dale Greer at Greer Enterprises in Richland WA. He deals primarily in 28-48 Ford parts but has cross overs. His number is 509-627-3411. His hours are I believe 1PM to 9PM. He quoted me $250 for a new one. If you call him tell him Dave Wollam from Madras OR sent ya! Good Luck! Dave
