  1. Mine looks pretty much the same. So, we are probably in the same boat and will working on things about the same time. My goal is not a show car, but a very nice driver.
  2. I have a 37 4 Door I am restoring in Hillsboro. By the way, my wife's twin sister is the assistant superintendent at HEB ISD. Welcome to the board and if I can be any help, let me know. My V12 was rebuilt by folks right here in Hillsboro. They also rebuilt and installed my Columbia unit. What kind of condition is your car in?
  3. Welcome aboard. What part of Texas are you in?
  4. Looking forward to it as well, but mine is not that nice yet. Just a good driver.
  5. My schedule really changes on a day to day basis, have to be out of town some, but I live a mile from I35 and you will be coming right by me an hour after you get through Dallas and 30 miles before you hit Waco. Why don't you call me at 254-582-9938 and maybe I can meet you somewhere for lunch or something. If I am in town, I will answer. I usually make a post office run around 10 in the morning, but as I office at home, I am around the phone at all other times. Ace
  6. Great shots Cecil. As always, you share your hard work with all of us. Many thanks, though unless I move north from Texas, don't think I will add a heater. Now, if I could just find some retrainer clips and chrome rings for my 37 rear tail lights. Ace
  7. Phil, I agree on the difference in the experience using the Columbia. Engage the unit and suddenly it is like gliding across the dance floor with Ginger Rogers. The car floats, but with complete control. I now find more excuses to take the 37 out and drive it. Best buy I have ever made for a car. Wish I could get it for my 65 Mustang! Ace
  8. Thanks for the post and pic. Great car with super potential. ace
  9. Cecil, I am going to have to add the fuel filter. I did that to both the Mustang and Ranchero when we finished the engine work, just slipped my mind on the LZ. Ace
  10. Was on my way to car a show today when I came to quit stop. A new load of gas was evidently dirty. Car would not start at all for several minutes, then would start and run for only three seconds and die. Same thing several minutes later. Got it home, same thing two more times. Will start finding the problem early next week. Hate loosing the day. It was beautiful weather to cruise. Had the very same thing happen to a 65 Mustang about four years ago. Ace
  11. Jim, that would be super. My 37's VIN is H41777. Whatever you can find would be greatly appreciated. Ace
  12. My son will be going to the prom next year. He will probably want the 37 LZ, as his daily driver will be the old 65 Mustang Fastback. So I figure it will be the prom car. That will make for an entrance. Ace
  13. Typical really. Folks don't understand what a car is worth, they just go with what some ignorrant friend tells them. Twenty years ago I tried to buy a Zephyr pedal car out of someone's front yard. It was just setting out rotting. I was told they were going to fix it up. It set there for fifteen years, until it rusted away, then was tossed. About the same time I tried to buy a complete 36 Ford touring sedan from behind a barn. I was told it was about to be pulled into the barn for a complete restoration. The car is still there, but it is sunk in the Texas dirt to mid-door, rusted through everywhere, with few parts that could even be used. On a good note. I drove a bride and groom (my wife drafted me) away from the church to the reception yesterday in my 37. Don't forget, mine is just a good old driver. Everyone went crazy over the car. The photographers hired to shoot the wedding even asked to photograph it by itself. The LZ was the star. Oh, and the Columbia is incredible. We had to fabricate a couple of parts, but the guy who rebuilt my engine had no problem doing just that, everything works like a dream and cruised down the highway at 65-70 as easy as you please. Never had so much fun driving a car, and that includes my 99 Cobra Convertible. Cecil, just wait until you get your ultra-cool coupe on the road. Ace
  14. Thanks. They fit so well and looked so right on the car, I had never noticed they weren't 37 LZ light lenses. How do you like that. Oh well, what is owning a car if you don't have to look for parts. Ace
  15. I agree. They are both there, but one of mine is in pretty back shape, the other only fare. Ace
  16. Wish I could make out the year on the plate. I figure it has been a while since it tooled down the road. Will be interested to see if it finds a home. Ace
  17. Phil, I may come up. I know Roy Thorson is supposed to be in. If I make it to Pate it will probably be on Friday. I have to go to a wedding on Saturday and have deadlines earlier in the week. On second thought, with the price of LZs starting to go up, maybe the 37 on Ebay is not overpriced for a starting bid. Heck, with values like we are seeing now, who knows? Ace
  18. There is a 37 4door on Ebay. Looks like a barn find to me. Only one pic, very little information, from what it shows appears to be all there, but who knows? The initial bid floor seems high to me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...RK%3AMEBWA%3AIT Ace
  19. Thanks for the kind words on the 37. It is solid but has a long way to go. Don't know on the rubber, but I will need to find some myself at some point when I get around to doing the body and interior. Let me know when and where you find it. Ace
  20. No you can't save them all, but it is a real shame when someone takes a very nice restored car and guts it. There are still plenty of parts cars types that can be rodded. Ace
  21. No problem. I got them from Dan Krehbiel (909) 302-5922. Great guy. Ace
  22. My Columbia is in place. What once was in a 38 LZ is now in my 37. Incredible difference! When you hear that very light "clunk" and it kicks in, it is almost like the motor is not even turning. Have not checked to see if the speedometer is accurate now, really have not had up to a very high speed as I am still waiting on my front two shocks to come back from the rebuilder, but this jewel was worth every penny. Wow! By the way - because it come from a 38, had to pull the Columbia out of the 38 axle/rear end and transfer it over to the 37, then had to adapt the 38 clutch mechanism to fit the 37. Did not have a lever to run from the clutch to the mechanism, so the folks who rebuilt my engine machined one that works perfectly. Only real problem we had was minor. As the Columbia had been rebuilt fifteen years ago and then set up, had to get new gaskets and leather seals for the vacuum tube. I realize that the terms I am using for some of this stuff might be wrong, but it does work right. Real happy to have it. Ace
  23. I have had delays on my Columbia as well, had to obtain a vacuum kit, Also waiting on my shocks being rebuilt. I wore my white LZ Club shirt. Oh well, we will hook up in the future. Ace
  24. Phil, My son and I drove down for a while and looked over the cars yesterday. I was hoping for a few more LZ's. The LC were beautiful. Salado is a really neat town. Buicks were having a small gathering there, a 56 T-Bird rolled by a couple of times and a 1915 Model T was there, stopping for a few hours on its was to Kerrville. Beautiful day and great time. ace
  25. Just curious, what year are they? 36-37? 38? Ace
