  1. I assume you are talking about a 37 Dodge not a 55 Dodge. I have a 38 Dodge and all I do is take off the passenger side wheel, the inner fender panel and the valve covers, I can get to the lifters fine. To take off the carburator and exhaust system seems like overload

  2. I have a mopar book that covers cars from 1936 - 1942. It states that if the engine has cap screws tighten to 65-70 ft-lbs and if it has studs with nuts tighten to 55-60 ft-lbs. Make sure all the threads are clean. There is also a sequence for tighting them (I can email you that if needed).

  3. The vin numbers for WC 1/2 ton trucks built from Feb 1945 - Dec 1947 go from 81,116,001 to 81,200,100. Yours is 81,142,173. If yours was a 1942, those serial numbers went from 81,100,101 (Sept 1941)to 81,115,301 (Feb 1942). This is from a book put out by Chrysler in 1950. The code for that truck is T-112-A-116. The 1112 you are reading could be T112. The wheelbase is 116". If you want a copy of the serial number page send me an email hwellens@copper.net

  4. The drums are 10" diameter. The lining on the shoes is 13/64" thick. The tool that I use is made by Miller. You set it up inside the drum and then you put it on the axle to ajust the shoes to that measurement. The Plymouths use 9" brakes; They will fit on the backing plate, but, never reach the 10" drum. You may have these by mistake.

  5. There looks like a letter before the "C"; What is it? Also, I don't think you have multiple letters like CCC. The serial number is the large middle letters. I think your serial number is the first letter plus C607C. The surounding letters are there to make it hard to modify if stolen. As for your engine number starting with a "G" that narrows down the selection. The "G" indicates the engine is a 1925 or 1926 Model 70, 6cyl. and the first letter of the car serial number should be a "W" or a "P" before the "C". The "W" could be a 25 or 26 model. The "P" is a 26 model.

  6. All Chryslers from 1929 and earlier had the serial number on or over the instrument panel. All the serial numbers from 1925 to 1929 started with 2 letters, then 3 numbers, then 1 letter. (eg. 1925 Chryslers started with serial number WW100P). Also look at the starting letter on the engine. That my help also sonce the letters were different on many models.

  7. Based on the serial number of the body, the truck is a model MF 36 which was built between Nov 1936 and Sept 1937. the serial numbers ran from 8407601-8421824. Looks like yours was about in the middle (probably built about April of 1937). It should be a 1937 Model, rated at 1-1/2 ton with a wheelbase of 133".
