  1. I wonder whose car that is? Sure wish they would disqualify that car since the owner didn't read the contest rules before putting up a pic.
  2. Count me in for the Buicks...
  3. Hope he doesn't mind that his car is on the web. It is really nice. Looks good with the skirts although my personal preference is to leave the open fender welts. Bet it's a blast to drive too.
  4. We can wait for you if it makes it easier. Love to have a 40 along for the ride. Did you see the path we planned to take?
  5. I think you'll find most cars on display on Saturday. But like Pete says cars will be displayed everyday. I don't know how registrations are progressing but in 2003, there was barely time to walk the entire grounds and see them all.
  6. I heard from the owner today. Tom is asking $7,700. He can be reached at : tschwen1@nycap.rr.com Or call 518-384-0432
  7. Oh man, what bad luck, although if it was going to blow, now is better than on the road to Flint. What-cha drivin to Flint anyways?
  8. I don't know the price yet. The fellow selling this found my name on the Internet and lives in the same town as me. Here's the pics he just sent to me:
  9. Zonda nailed it here but I would suggest you drive at least two tanks of gas through the car before trying to make any adjustments. I'm thinking you may have some old fuel in there that would be less volitile( sp) and there is no point tuning a carb to run on that stuff. It may also help to drain the tank to try and remove any water or debris in there before getting too far into this, unless you have already dropped the tank and had it cleaned by a good shop. Welcome back
  10. Dave, What's the address for that site?
  11. If you cannot find a NOS tank, I'd recommend a Gas Tank Renu dealer. You might find these in a radiator repair shop in your area.
  12. Apparently enough people pushed it and it took the hint.
  13. Only 8% cast votes? It would be interesting to run a sample poll by phone to find out why the others did not vote. Maybe there is something that could be done to improve that number in the future?
  14. Brian, I second Dan's comments. Thanks to you and every other soldier regardless of where they are stationed or deployed. Good luck!
  15. If I say 58 Buicks are great, Zonda will probably disagree, but too bad. The 58 Buicks are great!
  16. Do you mean the wires to the solenoid? If so I would take out the starter bolts and then using a rag to offset the back, tilt the starter foreward and let it rest on the tie rods so you can get to those solenoid bolts. Expect the battery cable stud to break the plastic housing on the solenoid. Be careful on putting the wires back on the solenoid too. Many times the clearance is tight and one of the small wires will twist around making contact with the battery cable nut. when this happens nothing will seem out of the ordinary till you try to turn off the motor and discover you can't kill it with the ignition switch. If this happens choke the old girl ( push up on the choke butterfly rod outside the carb) to kill the engine.
  17. I know the cable you mean. It's called the control cable and I believe it has to do with the wide / fast setting on the wipers. I never did take out my wiper switch. I did however spray that cable with PB Blaster both under the hood and under the dash to lubricate it and I think if you have been using a similar solvent if it was my car I'd try to get that cable moving first.
  18. Sounds like two problems to me. brake light switch and poor grounds at the tail light sockets. First thing to do is pull all the light bulbs and clean the contacts and the sockets they are riding in. If the bulbs and sockets are clean then follow the wires and make sure all the grounds in the trunk are clean. The brake light switch is a different animal. I believe that is under the dash attached to the bracket that the brake pedal arm pivots on. First I would disconned this switch and then see if your problem continues to exist. If so it's most likely a short in the signal light switch in the column. If not then you might have to adjust that brake light switch or change it out.
  19. And I bet all the Massachusetts birds are happy you're home too. Thanks for the nice comments on the event. Se you soon on the way to Flint.
  20. Joe makes an excellent point. You really need to consider what amount you plan to use the car. Considering most loans today are daily compounding of interest, unless you are paying cash for a car then the cost of fuel is only one factor to be considered. I have a 69 GS 400. It gets 14 miles to the gallon. I use it once or twice a week and fill it up once a month. Honestly, I feel guilty every time I start the car, until I move down the road with the top down. Then I compare my excess to those who sit in bars and drink all day or hire expensive hookers when they have a good wife sitting home and I don't feel guilty at all.
