  1. Hey folks. For those interested and near enough, we are hosting an informal cruise in on June 13th. See the poster below
  2. I'm not certain about that, but that is all that stands between the pump and that vent hole. Check your engine oil for gas smell. This just confirms the internal gas leak. Note, if you can possibly date that rebuild kit you may save yourself a lot of trouble. You want to be sure the gaskets are going to be compatible with todays ethanol gasoline. If it's a really old kit, I'd consider not installing it.
  3. I believe this is a one key car, so you could remove the glove box lock and take it to a locksmith to have a key made.
  4. Richard, please pardon me for interupting but unless I read your posts incorrectly you have a mix of green antifreeze, dexcool and stop leak in the system right now? If so I would suggest you back up a few steps and drop the antifreeze and discard it. To the best of my knowledge dex cool and green antifreeze are not compatible. In addition, stop leak can plug the tubes in the radiator. So I'd get that stuff out of there as soon as possible. As to the leak, the 89 3800 has a separate tube for coolant that goes from the intake to the throttle body. Chances are good it has rusted from the inside out and needs to be replaced. This thing is one big PIA to replace and the last replacement we got was not a bolt in fit, the base plate on the engine side had to be ground down a little to fit flush against the intake manifold.
  5. I thought only the Pontiac and the Buick had the superchargers in 95. In either case though, the 3800 was the Buick designed GM engine and all the Divisions used them in 95. If there is one in that Olds it is probably a transplant.
  6. The answer to your question is yes, the guage would not show pressure till the filter was full and the oil was pumped to the crankshaft bearings. But I think 15 seconds is a long time to wait for a little oil in the filter and still have no pressure. Then again it is a big filter. Last I recall these things secured with a bolt through the bottom, so I never tried to prime the filter before installation.
  7. Cool pics and nice of you to give dad and the boys a ride. Probably still tellin all their friends at school and work about the space craft they got to ride in.
  8. See your other thread. The diaphram must be torn. If it is a dual action pump I'd suggest getting a rebuilt from one of the Buick suppliers like Kanters
  9. The diaphragm ( sp) must be torn. Is this a dual action pump, with fuel on one side and vacuum on the other end?
  10. Aarrhhhhggggugh! $1,500 for that car seems like peanuts! Damn shame I only seem to have peanut shells!
  11. Cool article! Thanks for posting the link.
  12. How about coating the cleaned parts with the NAPA Rust treatment ( a permetex product)? It will convert the surface rust on contact, and form a protective coating. Later you can lightly sand it before final priming and painting.
  13. "***** ANYWAY, right at about 48mph and tacking exactly 1500 rpm every time, the rpms and speed jump up...." This happened to me in my 95 Riviera and it damn nearly drove me crazy. To make a long story, with a lot of parts and aggravation, short, it turned out to be the EGR valve.
  14. Hi Rick. I don't have an answer for you but just wanted to welcome you to the site. Also I wanted to ask if you are rebuilding the V8 or the Vsix?
  15. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Mudbone</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Body drop photo. The car pictured must be prior to a 56. That's not a 56 harmonic balancer. Also the 2 bbl would say Special in 56 with a stick shift, but the car is clearly a dynaflow. Also it shows the frame has been painted, which my 56 is not. I might suggest the car is a mock up for publicity and not to be relied upon for authencity of everyday practices.
  16. Presumably this would have only been available on the standard shift cars? How else would we identify one if we happend accross one while scavaging older recycle yards?
  17. Thanks for the thanks, but I didn't do anything. I do find it strange how they came out sid by side like that. Does anyone know how that happened? Usually they line up going down the page, each touching the left page border. How did this happen? PS, that's a great car. Wish I had the dough!

  19. Full face mask: $3.99 Eye Goggles: $ 6.00 Doors: $50.00 Collision Insurance: Priceless.
  20. Headlines: "The new Mercedes for banking giants."
  21. You know the tune, sing it with me folks: Oh! Thank God I'm not an Oscar Meyer weiner. Four more inches and that is what I'd be. And since I'm not an Oscar Meyer Weiner, I'll pretend this truck is really what I need.
  22. Or you could e mail them to me and I'll post them for you. JDEFIORE@nycap.rr.com
  23. JDEFIORE@nycap.rr.com Sorry I did not get back to you sooner, but I saw the picture you sent and my hitch does not look anything like that. I would not think the one I have is suitable for a 57.
