  1. You can make your own tool. Take the cutters out of a Die ( any 18 pitch die will work) and make your own handles. A good sorce for cutters is a plumbing shop that has pipe threading machines. These tools are hard to use in soft metal because they tend to dig in. Send me a P/M and I can send you some photos. 2. Dale: Lowest purchase price was a 1950 Pontiac silver streak 8 convertible (first new car). Green with white top. Bought it new in Jan.1951 off the show room floor. It was sitting next to a 1951 four door hard top which,as I remember the 50 was $200 less than the 51 but it was a convertible. I traded in a 1941 Pontiac conv. that I bought only two months before for $50. I can still remember the night my mother told I would never pay off a $2000 loan and she was right. The Insurance company paid it off seven months later. After insurance settlement I ended the summer with a 1940 Pontiac coupe. Quite a let down after a fun in the sun summer. Best bang for the buck: 1986 Buick Electra Estate wagon. It is still sitting in the yard with 427,000 miles on the Odometer. Four kids in collage in four different states all at the same time. Wisc.,Mich.,Iowa,and Minn. Most fun for the Buck: 1929 Buick. $3,500 minus $11,000, but that another story. Terry29-26
  3. Adam: How did you copy the photo and then put in your post? Reminds me of the funny cars put together back in the 50's. Tried to find the photos I have of two VW front ends put together. Didn't know which way it was going. Terry29-26
  4. Is this a JOKE?????? This is two cars put together at the door post????? or is my compter not printing the car on the same level???? Terry29-26
  5. Hi all looking for lkb's cars: I did a Google search for lkb, search within (auto) and found all the cars that were once listed on this fourm. Use the blue bottons to move from one car to another. Terry29-26
  6. Brian: Help Help.... I have wasted 3 hours trying to scan this book to post but can't get it down to size. I can reduce it in Email but not in reply. If I send it to you reduced can you then post it? Lost/deleted your Email address. I started working with computers back in the late 50's and one would think I should be able to post a simple page from a book. Where did the Key punch GIRLS go? They knew how to fix all my screw ups. Anyway, I am more interested in the book than the Baris Buick. I would like to post the Page names of the people who published this book and find out how many vol. there were. Terry29-26
  7. Brian: Tried to send you an Email but it came back. Send me an address I can send you a copy of some pages of I Buick book I found. Terry29-26
  8. Brian: Keep it simple. Check my post in AACA General Forum. Too many places to post replies and not enough corralation(sp) Terry29-26
  9. Brian: There are many places to post replies to questions on pre war Buicks. Many of us "old guys" Don't spend a lot of time on our computers so when a request is posted on more than one forum I only reply on the first site I see it in. There were several replies to the 27 seat Question on the "27" buick site. If I go looking for 29 buick parts my first post is on the Silver Anniversary News Letter. If I can't find what I am looking for there then I post on other forums. I'm not surprised when there is no reply to a request for some thing that people with the same model don't have.,but I post elsewhere just in case there is someone out there that bought the wrong part at a swap meet and wants to unload it.In the past I have bought parts that I thought were Buick and when I tried to put it on one of my cars only to find it was the wrong year or model and some times the wrong make. (I have a few of those items I would be willing to sell and or give away). Every day there is another web site set up and there are getting to be to many places to look at and answer questions. Keep it simple and easy to find and people will keep coming back to use this forum. I have Buicks from 1916 to 1989 (13 in all) and do all the work on them. Terry29-26

  14. If you are replaceing the Bushing and do not want to save the old one, run a bottoming tap in the hole. Be careful not to brake the tap. It should come out with little effort. good luck. Terry29-26

  22. ALLTEL still provides anolog service here in Wisconsin. I have a bag phone that I use in my 95 GMC and also works on a 6 volt system in my 29. Terry29-26
  23. The reason your car will start after you jump it from a 12 volt battery is that when a 6 volt is conected to a 12 volt battery it is the same as hooking it to a battery charger. Use to charge 6 volt tractor battries by hooking them to 12 volt battery and leaveing them hooked together over night. Take your battery to the local parts store and have them test it under load. Tery29-26
  24. Bill: I have both an 86 Electra and 89 LaSaber Wagons. The 86 has 427000 miles on it. Heads and pan have never been off it, would still be driveing it if a garde rail hadn't of run into the front of it. To answer your question; They are not the hotest thing on the road but they are not dogs eather. Use to cruse the I system at 80 to 90 mph with no problems except cops. Oldest daughter got stoped for doing over 100 mph (cost a lot of her hard earned cash). Pluged cat.converter will slow it down. check it first. Have gone through as many converters as tires??
