  1. If you search for pictures of a 1916 Model 25 Metz I believe you can find it matches the fender and radiator shell to this axle.
  2. Radiator shell is definitely Metz, the ring held on a porcelain enamel radiator emblem. You can see it in the upper left corner of this display. I honestly think that ring is harder to find than the emblem itself although it’s value isn’t all that much.
  3. Am I missing something here??? Both pictures of cars appear to be “Sports Coupes” not Cabriolets.
  4. Years ago I bought what I thought was the complete set only to find out about #8 existing. You can find them under $10 on eBay every so often but they are good reference books and not always priced reasonable…
  5. They were on eBay a while back with no bidders as well. They were discussed on Facebook but I don’t remember there being any additional information of value… https://www.ebay.com/itm/154899737825?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=HFztdQyPS3W&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=pnvMnNjyRmG&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  6. It was a lucky guess on my part. Thank goodness Dusty knew exactly what it was!
  7. They are coils but I don’t know what applications. Seems Ford liked using that mounting style so maybe Lincoln???
  8. And it’s not as scarce as the Anderson in my opinion… they are just below the Duesenburg in this display:
  9. My first thought is part of a treadle sewing machine attachment kit. I can’t think of anything automotive that it could be used with.
  10. I think “screw on hubcap” is still the most common description. As Mentioned they were used as both dust cover and to retain grease. The National is a good one!
  11. Looks like it has hinges at the one end, they might be frozen and need to be freed. The foot rest should be placed so if lands very close to the front of the seat when folded up so it is out of the way to get into the car, and folds forward to be used as a footrest. Getting it loose and playing with the location before mounting it to the floor will help you find it’s placement.
  12. They were meant to be spliced into the headlamp wiring and the wire brought up under the radiator shell to come out near a radiator neck. This one is on an emblem display and uses single strand wire to a bayonet connector - the ground is back through the radiator itself. It’s the same setup as even the most expensive Lalique mascots… I use a cheap AC adapter for the power.
  13. Rarity almost never equals valuable, especially in aftermarket parts. I suspect it would sell between $65 and maybe $100 on an internet auction IF there’s two bidders fighting for it. If it had a factory connection that MIGHT be different. It’s a very fickle market… And the Indian theme was popular but motorcycles are typically air cooled so you’re not going to see any Indian sporting one. Good luck, but as an advanced mascot collector I know I would not be a buyer just because it is super rare (which is the most abused word in the world IMO)…
  14. It took a while but this is as close as I can find to yours. This is from the Jack Martells book “Antique Automotive Collectibles” and it’s called an Arco Motector - which looks and works like the top of an old percolating coffee pot… or am I showing my age??
  15. I also want to know what this was about?? Did he change his middle name for export? And I’ve heard and said both REO and R-E-O but question if the band had influence on it… Photo credit is to Mike Shear’s website
  16. A while back I bought a Lozier watch fob from one of their sales. It was a splurge purchase but everything went smoothly. ALWAYS know what the commission is and a vague idea of shipping and keep them in mind when buying at auction because it added up quickly. There was one particular mascot they had which I chased to a point where that additional commission put it too rich for me to continue, but I assume that it’s one of the things Ed Minnie was chasing as well - a special Pierce Arrow dealership supplied mascot that I have only seen a few of. I don’t remember what I saved to watch later but it’s another good sale.
  17. Let us know what your experience is if you do that. If it’s not good I’ll apologize for the advice…
  18. I don’t know if you have been following the “Check The Oil Promotions” auctions of the Signature automobilia collection, but several of the pieces I was interested in were sold at nearly double what I was expecting. For many years now I have kept an accurate inventory of my collection including rough valuation so that my family has some idea of what the collection is worth. I don’t expect to be alive when it gets broken up and I want to be sure nobody takes advantage. If it were a necessity to sell it right now I would consider an auction like theirs.
  19. My opinion is that it’s from a High School class and is being misrepresented by either a seller that is ignorant of the facts or a seller who is intending to do so. Only my opinion but you have given the same points I based my opinion on when I looked at the same fob on eBay…
  20. Aftermarket fender lamp from the 1920’s. There’s no fee different styles around that you will see.
  21. I have one of those too… it’s not worth tarnishing a reputation by selling any! At some point I might want to create a display for educational purposes
  22. Congratulations! We have two rescues and they make the best companions for us and each other.
  23. I don’t know if they are the same caps. Your mascot is the earlier one I think, and the two I have duplicates of are the newer version of the same one. There’s four styles, a flat thin rock, that pointed one you show, the flat base I show, and one where the griffin is leaning way forward (on eBay recently for around $400). I have the same style as yours as well, it was one of the first I had in my collection.
  24. Seems like this is a double posting. My apologies but I commented on the other thread…
  25. And a picture for Terry… the cap under one of yours is a factory cap for a Gardner, and I can think of a reasonable trade if you are interested… I have two Griffin’s.
