  1. It looks like a tool for spreading tires open so you can patch them.
  2. Unknown car #2 is not a Ford. There's a Ford in the lower left slightly behind the second and third car in the front row. #2 has a hump on the hood that makes me think of early Cadillac and Rambler cars as does the brass rail along the firewall.
  3. I think it's a mid to late 20's truck emblem, not used on the cars which makes it a little less common than the typical Studebaker wheel emblem.
  4. Ford didn't offer a starter until 1919 and if there's a hole for the button it would definitely not be any earlier than that. i had a 15 runabout that had a body number stamped in the wood framing under the front seat that started with the date 315... which was March of 15. If the car you are looking at does not have this try to post this question on the MTFCA forum and you will find answers there
  5. The smooth looks of the front fenders can also throw you off as they were a great improvement over the earlier ones. Lump is correct that the wire wheels and bumpers were factory accessories first made available in 1926 and sold through 1927 which was the last year for the Model T. The headlamp bar was an early 26 addition, around April I think, as the earlier 26's had lamps mounted to the fenders - rumored to be because of the new bumper blocking the front registration plate and needing a place to hang it in sight when you had bumpers, but many 26-27 T's had cracks in the outer lip of the fenders and I can only think that the fender mounted lights would have made this worse.
  6. What I remember was more of a magazine with an article giving super hyped up values in one edition followed by an auction listing for the same collection in the next one. I enjoyed reading about collections that were different from my own specialty but had a hard time believing some of the perceived values. Now they are in my mind again I should dig them out and see if I still feel the same...
  7. I agree, a survivor gets far more attention with less worrying about a scratch in the paint! Nice find
  8. You have a very interesting car that you don't get to see very often, and I for one would love to see more pictures. There is a Durant club website at durantmotors.org that will be able to put you in touch with other owners. Good luck!
  9. Bet his next ad will belligerently say: "BETTER HURRY BEFORE I SCRAP IT ALL" Like it's going to bring more over the scales...
  10. That is an updraft carb... but if you want to use it on a Model T Ford there would also be an aftermarket intake needed.
  11. I'm glad this was asked and answered, I thought that All the pictures were lost during one of the site upgrades. At at one time there was a link to your user album under your profile picture every time you posted, not sure when that went away but I miss it.
  12. Buy whichever car you like the most and you can't go wrong.
  13. Talk about an ancient memory... When I was very little (10 or less) dad had a 1929 Chevrolet Mail Truck behind his repair shop, somehow I pulled the horn button off and that S piece was under it. As I recall, its rubber and held some kind of contact for the horn. Being a 40+ year old memory I can't vouch for the wheel, but I remember that S as dad was NOT happy with me!
  14. They are beautiful animals, but I've seen a few too many car meets moose accidents with uglier results.
  15. BTW, these and many other car songs are public domain and can be found on the internet and downloaded for free by doing a search by title
  16. Bill Murray I think was the singer and mine is a Victrola 78 rpm disc from 1915! Between that and Barney Google I can drive my wife nuts...
  17. It's a Reo from around 1920, but I'm not sure of the year.... the hubcaps are the giveaway for me
  18. That is a good idea, I would not think the crook would be stupid enough to set up a booth with the items but he might jump at the chance to sell it quickly and quietly thru a private sale. Say what you want about those of us who don't use their real names, but I've bragged about my emblem collection too many times and I don't want it to wind up needing a thread like this one!
  19. One of these looks like it could be used for RHD or LHD, not sure if it helps but the price seems low for the pair. http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/3487/731629.html?1488424560
  20. My first thought was ReVere or Kissel because of the step style instead of running boards, but neither quite match the radiator shape...
  21. There was a Nash one in the American Motors section a few months ago, not sure of the rotation...
  22. As a teenager my mom had a two door with a 302 in it. It was dirt brown with the cheap vinyl floor matting. What a sleeper!
  23. I think Studebaker is right, the kick plate matches the one on a 24 Special Six I had many years ago.
