  1. Sounds cool! My car has had the engine newly rebuilt along with the tranny, frame, gas tank and the rest of the mechanicals. Now, the body has had a lot of metal repair done (mostly floor pans) and the rockers have to be rebuilt. I'm a tall guy and the fellas at the shop are at work moving back the dividing wall (between the front and rear seats) and strengthening the "B" pillars. This would give me a couple more inches of leg room. Originally, the car had a gray exterior and gray interior leather. I plan to change to a nice dark green exterior with tan interior leather. The Cadillac LaSalle Club has a new authenticity manual for our cars. It provides a lot of info. Keep in touch. Tom
  2. I am restoring a 1939 Cadillac series 61 convertible. I am trying to find someone to properly redo the wood grain dash. It is supposed to be a dark ribbon walnut pattern. Tried to contact Thomas Lokay in Florida but I can't get ahold of him. Any other leads to try. Thanks Tom Wallace, Dayton, OH
  3. I sold my Glassic Ford Model A replica #766 to Wayne Smith of St Charles, MO in 2006. I found some top hardware for his car in a box in the garage. I have no address for him. Perhaps someone from the local AACA club in that area can give me some contact information. Thanks Tom Wallace,Dayton, OH

  5. Sorry but I can't make it to Hershey this year. I was invited to the Ault Park Concours D'Elegance in Cincinnati next year. The show is usually in early June. Wish me luck! Tom
  6. In October 2002, my brother invited me to an auction near Cincinnati. This Cadillac was under a tent next to an old REO, both in sad condition. After a spirited auction, I won the car and trucked it home to Dayton. First I joined the AACA and HCCA. Research started with Cadillac Historical Services in Michigan. The original data sheet showed the car was shipped to the Cadillac Auto Co. of Cincinnati, OH. Extras included a prest-o-lite tank, and a windshield. The car had the standard royal blue body, black fenders, and cream wooden wheels but without the optional nickel-plated brass. An inventory of the car showed the following missing parts: speedometer, and front oil side lamps. Aftermarket front doors were added at some point and the original exhaust manifold/carburator were replaced at some point. Ebay was a great resource for finding the speedometer, dash clock, and oil lamps. I took the car to a local restorer, Vintage Motorsports Services, LLC. They orchestrated the whole project. George Kaforski of Plano, IL, a Brass Era Cadillac expert, rebuilt the engine and supplied an original carb/manifold. He provided much information and valuable advice. The wooden wheels were rebuilt by Calimer’s Wheel Shop in PA. The top oak bows and metal sockets were reproduced by Oak Bows in PA. The wooden body was my job replacing the wooden ash flooring, filling rotten framing and repairing cracked veneer on the front seat backs. New mahogany underseat doors and mahogany dashboard were fabricated. The tufted leather seats and top were done by Joe Smith (D & D Restoration of Covington, OH). That's the story in a nutshell. More pictures as requested on next reply.
  7. I would certainly pay for postage for your trim. Was this trim from a parts car or did someone make it for you? The trim is ½ inch wide and is about 3/16ths to ¼ inch thick. Here’s my address. Much thanks. Thomas Wallace 10557 Falls Creek Lane Dayton, OH 45458 I can find no one to make it for me.
  8. I have been an AACA member and HCCA member since 2002 when I purchased my Cadillac. I just finshed up the project after 5 1/2 years. The members of this message board has been very helpful!! I entered my 1911 Cadillac Model 30 Touring Car in the Dayton Concours D'Elegance at Carillon Park. I won "Best of Class" and the "Col. Edward A. Deeds Judges Choice Award". I have been invited to the Cincinnati Concours at Ault Park next June. Thanks All for your help. I include a before and after picture. Tom Wallace, Dayton, OH

  11. I'm restoring a 1936 Buick Century four door sedan. I have only the stainless trim along the sides of the hood but am lacking the rest. The beltline trim extends across the doors to behind the rear door. I have contacted a lot of Buick parts guys but no luck. Does anyone know of someone who would be able to make some trim being that I do have a piece for a pattern? It has a simple "fat half moon" contour and is about 1/2 inch wide. It is plumper than the simple trim used on some Packards. The trim made by the Packard guys has too flat of a profile. Any help appreciated. Tom Wallace, Dayton, OH

  16. The car has been here a week or two but needed a few things fixed to get it mobile. Hopefully by this Saturday it will be movable. Check you PM's. Tom
  17. Hi West! The car is supposed to be delivered next week sometime. As soon as I get organized after the car arrives, I'll contact you. Maybe you can give me some words of wisdom. Thanks Tom

  19. Thanks for your help. Any clue as to "upholstery 38"? I assume it is a color choice of leather since this is a convertible. Is that reasonable? Thanks. Tom Wallace, Dayton, OH
  20. I have just bought a 1939 Cadillac series 61 4 door convertible. It is in good shape needing only some radiator repair. As I understand, about five cars have survived out of 140 cars produced. There are three cars listed in the CLC roster, this being one of them. Below is the original build sheet from CHS. Can someone decode the "color combination, 60" and the "upholstery, 38"? From my research, I can't find the answer. I want to restore it back to original as much as possible Thanks Tom Wallace, Dayton, OH
  21. Yes, I have seen that car and I have seen another car offered on a different website. The fellow from whom I bought the car said he knew of only five survivors. It is scheduled to be delivered in two weeks. Only needs some radiator repair. I going to leave the rest alone right now. I just wanted a late thirties converetible driver. Thanks Tom Wallace, Dayton, OH
