  1. 46 to 48 Mercury was 15"; 46 to 48 Ford was 16".
  2. The purpose of the spring is to allow the frame to flex without forcing the tank to flex. Only one bolt gets a spring, the bolt that is on the side by itself.
  3. Talk to Ricky Hite at Classic Wood Products 336-691-1344.
  4. Another possible source of information about this car is the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. 717-528-8279 or their web site.
  5. Join the Early Ford V8 Club of America (via their web site) and get the 1942 - 1948 book that the Club has published (also via the web site). The Club has many Regional Groups so there should be one close to you.
  6. Picture 3: the 4 rectangular at the top of the picture are '42 Ford. Picture 6: the black pair are '38 Ford. Picture 7: the brown pair and the chrome pair next are '49 Mercury.

  9. The purple plate can move from car to car. I have done it.
  10. 17" would be '33 and '34. '35 is 16".
  11. Ford station wagons had one taillight, except for Minnesota and Washington, through 1951.
  12. One of the suppliers (now deceased) offered to early V8 Ford owners a coating to turn a black fan belt to a reddish brown which I successfully applied earlier today. I have previously used this coating and there are no adhesion issues in service.
  13. Bulk lot of '35'-36 Packard, Reo, Pontiac, Oldsmobile and Chevrolet literature for sale at Chocolate Field South CO 19-20.
  14. Been going to Hershey since 1961. For most of the '60's, you could get there on Saturday morning and have plenty of time to cover the flea market and see the cars.
  15. The radio head is late '36 only with the wood grained dash. It is not for '35 or early '36 with painted dash.
  16. The hood ornament is 1950 Ford only. 1949 and 1951 are both different.
  17. The gauge is for 1935 and first half year production 1936 Ford standard (not Deluxe) car and 1935 and 1936 Ford truck.
  18. P. S.: The '39 Ford may require significant work on the hydraulic brake system to get it safe and working correctly.
  19. In addition to the heads and fuel pump on the '36, the air cleaner, carburetor, intake manifold and horn are incorrect, but as has been pointed out, those items do not have a major impact on the value. There are no comprehensive pictures of the interiors, so we'll assume for the moment that the interiors are in very good condition. What does have a major impact on value is that both are fordor sedans, which is likely the least desirable body style. Cleaned up and running, they are probably in the $10,000 to $12,000 range.
  20. It will not fit. Your car requires a 48-3524.
  21. Leonard, I can answer your questions and help with parts. Please call 724-926-8265 9 AM to 9 PM Eastern time. Jon Anderson
