  1. This sounds like a key rack problem which means you may have to remove the steering wheel to get to it. I have had to replace more than a few, what happens is the ignition switch is fine but on the end of the switch there is a rack that pushes the rod in the colum which starts the car you may be able to check this by removing the bottom cover and looking at the switch while you turn the key if the rod does not move the rack the ignition rack is broken if thats the case replace it, if the rod moves with the key its good hope this helps.
  2. I had the same problem it took about 6 months befoe it would not start at all my problem was a bad cam. pos. sen. after I replaced it I never had the problem again, I also had the dash IP issue this is where the CPS maybe sometimes a problem. Hope this helps Cashbox
  3. Replace the cam pos. sensor on a 3800 that year it is located under the water pump.

Hey Guys My wife told me I had to get rid of the Riv. the tranny and cps gave out 2 years ago and I have not touched it since then Iam selling parts the radio, crt, bcm, are good I also have a hard key zenith screen that works also and the wood grain sets from an 89 Riv. old project before this one. for Questions about parts contact me mab6764@yahoo.com
  5. Hi If your engine is not turning over remove the batt. cable and remove the starter and have it checked if it works check the key rack switch in the steering wheel stalk this is probly broken and will allow you to turn the key but nothing will happen (NOTE) this is not for the faint of heart. because you will have to remove the steering wheel and stalk cover there is a rod that leads to the key rack and switch push it strait down when your car starts let it go hope this helps.
  6. Hi, You must remove the covers under the steering column, :follow your brake ped.to the top look to the right you will see a silver box with two cables this is your CPS 10mm nuts hold it there make sure all the batt. is discoed before you switch it out hope this helps.

  8. Hi everyone I'm rebuilding an 86 riv. and understand that the parts for the Riv. and Reattas are interchangeable and I have one part that works well but wont fit the Zenith CRT was to big for my 86 Riv. But I need a CPS or IP for my Riv. mine has gone black I'm kinda leaning to the IP because i have full radio and air/heating i checked all the connections to the back of the IP to the BCM and changed the BCM and replaced the chip with mine if you are interested in the part post me here thanks. cashbox

Hi Jared, Does your dash go off and stay off and only the radio work or does both go off and stay off and then all come back on ?
  14. Hi Bigsteviejo The problem that you are having is that your new speakers are blown because of the ohm rating on your old factory is anywhere form 8 to 10 ohms the new speakers you bought (after market) are only 4 ohms thats why when you installed the new speakers they sounded louder then the stock speakers did. here take this little info for your new set of car speakers this is good for car stereo and may help you for blowing another pair of speakers if your ohm rating on your radio is 8 and the power on the factory radio is 20 watts per channel rms double rms watts on your new 4ohm speakers to 40 watts rms and your factory radio will see them as 20watts speakers. NOTE: this is not better than the factory setup but will sound pretty good and remember that using 4ohm speakers in the place of 8-10ohm speakers can cause a little more heating up in the factory radio hope this helps.
  15. Hi Khowie Sounds like you have a problem with the caliper guide pins and the boot around it. the clunk sound you are hearing is the caliper moving foward and back once you press or get off the brake hope this works also check the wheel bearing on the side the noise is coming from.
