  1. By my previous experience, yes, two lines for the sending unit. Fuel feed and vapor lock breather.
  2. Hi Bill, somewhere I have both horns, and a bracket for the longer one. Would take me awhile to locate, and would be reasonable on price if you find that group would work to make you whole.
  3. I'm sure everyone has a technique, but I used the tire iron (jack handle) with a towel wrapped around the tip. It can take awhile but protects the edge as you pry them off. Good luck.
  4. My 64 has this setup. I'd be happy to give you any info that may help you make sure your hood closes without issue
  5. Hey, Dan, thanks for the great read and pix and video. That bridge went on forever, very cool. Many years ago as a charter member of the BDE, I suggested a rolling annual event, traveling Route 66, but it went nowhere. That group is set on one destination for the week. So for the trip I never got to take, thanks for the vicarious experience. May your spring remainder be eventful in positives and uneventful in negatives. I look forward to riding in the back seat again. Thanks for all your trouble to make us feel like a part of your experience. Dale
  6. Slots are actually holes for the bolt-on fluted aluminum covers with removable chrome spinners. 63 has silver trishield emblems, 64 has R in oval emblem. Wheels may have been used in 65 as well, when those covers were no longer an option.
  7. Hi, first Riv 64 for $1200 Nance Buick, El Paso, trade was worth $600. That was 1969, had it for 35 years
  8. My first look would be vacuum loss at the brake shut off area. That hose has a large inside diameter with a thin wall. A steel coil keeps it from collapsing. The rubber dries out and cracks its thin wall.
  9. Only one pic ....and we all know when a dealer says "fully optioned" they so rarely know what that can mean.

    New to fourm

Been awhile but I think the water jacket purging bolt is normal. Dale
  11. Forgetting the 82-85 Riv converts?
  12. Long story short. Helped my Dad on his until I had one. Then learned all out of necessity. Couldn't afford professional service. Tool box grew with each new challenge.

    EMERGENCY!

Just a quick note here about the movie titled. The Riviera, and how amazed I was to learn such a movie existed. The 'star' of the flick is a bronze 65 Riv, and the way the main characters revolve around it. It is Czeck I believea and has either dubbed English or subtitles, I dont' remember now. Bunt one exists with so much Riviera in it, it is wonderful. Dale
  14. Hi, While hunting down my 64 manuals, I fould this 63 set. They are complete, but shop dirtied on the covers. All pages intact. Best resourse along with this board. $25 for the set plus shipping cost. Dale
  15. Not for a Riviera, but I do have the original delete plate my Dad ordered for his 61 Electra 225, because he bought me a transistor radio, and always liked to listen to the engine, not a radio. When I did have some 61's in my collection, I always thought I would use the delete plate to fit a modern stereo there, and cut to fit. Never did so, still have the plate. It's aluminum, and ribbed like the real radio plate for 61. Dale
  16. Steele I am a firm believer, if there is any oil, anti-freeze, fuel line, sensor, fitting, sealant can only help. if any of the above is under pressure, it is necesssary. My sealant of choice is Permatex #2, black, nasty, hard to clean my hands, but NEVER have has a leak when using it. Good luck with your upgrade!! Dale
  17. Paul, Years ago I acquired a 79 SType, and it had the Olds 307 in it. I went out of my way to gain a 3.8 Turbo-charged Buick V-6 to put in it when the Olds died.....that 3.8 sat in my garage on an engine stand for years and years, and the Olds engine never gave me reason to do the swap.........I sold the car at the 254,000 mile point, and the engine separately a fews years later, engine stand and all..... Dale
  18. Hey Dick, Enjoyed the radio show. Did bring back one memory. your reference to being a cop and allowing yourself to see Rivs. I had a fender bender in my first 64, and was at fault, or rather, the good looking lady on the sidewalk was. (She later came over to offer her witness testimony having seen it all).... The cop who visited the accident commented about my 64, and told me he had a 72 for sale. I told him I was looking for a boattail, and gave me his card, did not ticket me, and told me it was dark green. I did not tell him that was a deal breaker. I later did find my GS blue 71 GS, and did not call the cop. thanks for the memory Dale
  19. Hi, I would change the thermostat, as it does not seem to be opening. Then you will have that item eliminated from the problem. If it still exists, the fan clutch would be my next culprit. good luck!! Dale
  20. Paul, Nice story, can relate, negotiated a great price for resto on a 90Reatta, same loss of shop, divorce, we are now 9 years in and almost done.... Dale
  21. Nathaniel, I haven't pulled the rear seat yet, tried the passenger seat today and it worked,so know it isn't the fuse, Must be a loss of contact between the switch and the seat element. Will keep your posted. Dale
  22. update, The owner's manual shows there to be a thermostat type fuse in slot 35 of the rear compartment fuse box. Where in the world is that fuse box, under the cushion as is the battery? Dale
