Peter is the best one to answer this but some times it is due to a request by members to the forum moderators or even the original poster asking for a change. Other than that you might chalk it up to alcohol!
I'll have a double of Crown Royal please.......

Ok……sorry for the delay. It’s been crazy busy here and I’m leaving for Pebble tomorrow. Phil has had time to dig deep into the Buick. To be honest……it was kicking his(our) ass for a while. Took a few days sleeping on it to figure things out and get ahead of it. Basically the engine was gummed up. The oil turned to glue. We were having a hard time turning the engine and couldn’t understand why it was actually binding. We came up with a game plan…….and everything turned out well. We removed the oil filter set up, and pushed three quarts of ATF through the upper oil gallery that goes to the cam and overhead valves. We then pushed three more quarts through the lower end oil gallery. That did the trick. It freed up the engine considerably. We had already oiled the rings, but only slightly. Finally we flooded them…….and presto. Spins fine now. We were very concerned early on. Now we will do the evapo rust block flush at temperature………probably three days or more. The added heat should break down and soften the oil that turned to glue. Had to chisel of the coolant hose between the oil cooler and water pump…..literally chisel it off…….I think it was the factory hose. Oil cooler has your typical rust flakes………and over all everything is going much better. We plan on doing a compression test in a few days. Also, the clutch p, transmission, and torque tube and rear wind will get installed after we clean everything up. The trans will be flushed several times before it’s reinstalled. The only things missing were the fuel tank….it was lost when the last owner passed away after he left it somewhere to get cleaned. I have sourced a good mascot with matching patina, a usable horn trumpet, and a replacement tail light. The ashtray with Sue’s moms butts will stay where they are……..they have been there since before I was born…….here are a few photos. If Phil send more photos to me while I’m on the road, I will keep posting the progress.

Nope….never in a museum. It’s been in private hands with only three owners in fifty years. It was BOS back in the late 70’s. We regularly drive it all over………I’m guessing it has 50k or more since it was restored. We have driven it in a dozen states and three different countries. It cruises all day long at 80 without issues. It has a tall rear gear set installed. Second gear is actually useful for driving.

Reading the auction description…….one can only conclude caveat emptor. The price is pretty optimistic for something that doesn’t come with the blue ribbon guarantee.

In AJ's defense I have to say my initial reaction was photo #1 may well have like the famous Gable pics where he is "working" on his Model J. However, subsequent shots do seem to show hard labor.
The question really, is how on earth did you get him on whitewall detail, Ed??

PS-a cheap dry chemical extinguisher is the BEST way to ruin your car and cost thousands of dollars in damage. Your probably better off letting insurance buy it back toasty or as a cinder. It’s almost incomprehensible What a dry extinguisher will do to a decent car

PS - every car in our collection has an element fire extinguisher in it. The V-16 Cadillacs have two of them. There is one in my truck, and two in my trailer. I have tested them myself. Every car that I value has one in it.

The exact reason in element fire extinguisher is not UL listed is because it does not use a pressure container. By definition any UL approved fire extinguisher requires it to use pressure. Since NASA has been using the same type of technology in an element unit since the 60s I would say is adequate.

Congratulations! Nothing better than seeing friends get the car they want. 👍👍👍

Yes….. off the field. AJ drove it on.
AJ- yes paid. I let you buy me a 200 dollar dinner……..so you are technically paid. It just happens to be negative pay!
And then there was the time I stoped those idiots from messing up your car. Priceless!
I should probably Start charging you for allowing you to hang around with me. We should start it this year. Obviously it’s a cash only situation.

I am not looking forward to dealing with an identical issue on a similar car when I get home from Pebble......please keep posting about these units....its been 35 years since I had my hands on one.

I see ............the guy who let you drive a Duesenberg onto the 18th green deserves to get his balls busted while supervising PAID employees who are pretending to be busy but actually accomplishing nothing............Notice my poor posture from carrying your weight all these years at Pebble. No need to thank me!
PS- Politicking with the IMPORTANT people is part of a collections managers job. I have been doing ok so far........hell....I didn't even charge you for a ride in that red Duesenberg.........the one that WON Best of Show at Pebble..........bet I can sell your seat in the car this year for a few bucks.......😎 The only thing your photo proves is I need to drop 20 pounds.......🤯

Two exceptionally rare photos you thought you would NEVER see in your lifetime. First is AJ doing actual work! Phill is in the background. Notice the color coordinated red collection cap on the trunk rack. Photo #2 is driving J357 on the 18th green........hard to explain what this is like to true car guys......kind of like all your buddies seeing you out on a date with a super model. Last photo......Phil Hill's BOS winning Pierce bought new by his aunt. The BEST part of pebble is the truck parking lot.....it's free.......don't tell anybody.
PS- Yes...the parking lot is dirt.........and the car stays a mess......it's a pain in the ass that one would never believe unless you see it with your own eyes.

As I get older the short coupled sedans look better and better. How does an era swapped body effect things, is it a 1929 forever or is it a 1933 with the rebody? I'm not a player, but if I was I might have an upholstery project.
Bob
on this particular car, the rebody means nothing……it’s a numbers matching correct car. Great eyeball. It should bring better than the estimate if Pebble prices hold their trend.

Yes.......in 1930.
