  1. Those stickers were being sold by Studebaker parts vendors around the time our government was bailing out General Motors and Chrysler during the recession. Rog
  2. I like the new stamps. However, I would have liked to see at least one Studebaker stamp. Of course I'm partial. Rog
  3. I just received my copy yesterday and am anxious to start reading it. Thanks for the upbeat report. Rog
  4. I was wondering if there are any scale models of the Duryea that AACA uses as the club logo. If not, why not. I think it would be a popular item, since there are so many club members. Rog
  5. All the Barrett-Jackson auctions tell me is that there are too many people with more money than brains. Young viewers should realize that the auctions really don't indicate the true values of the automobiles. Rog
  6. Awsome job!!! Really enjoyed the video. Rog
  7. I got my issue yesterday, Jan. 19th here on Long Island. It has the red Stutz on the cover. Chock full of good stuff in it. Rog
  8. Maybe I missed it, but did anyone recommend adding zinc (ZDDP) to modern motor oils? Zinc has been removed from motor oils because it can affect the catalysts that are on modern cars. Zinc will save the valves in our old cars. You can also use Valvoline VR-1 racing oil. It will contain the necessary zinc to protect our old engines. Rog
  9. Military vehicles are usually shipped on the back of a flatbed trailer and tied down. Rog
  10. You may want to contact Universal Tires in Hershey too. Lucas tires also sells the Montgomery Ward tires. Rog
  11. May I echo those sentiments. I wish all of you a very Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving. We do indeed have much to be thankful for. Rog
  12. I took my drivers test in 1954 in my dad's 1950 Nash Ambassador Custon sedan. It was a large car with a fastback rear window. It was virtually impossible to see out of the rear window while reversing. However, that said, it was the best I ever parallel parked in my entire live. I couldn't believe I did it. The rest of the test was a piece of cake. Rog
  13. Nice job getting all those beautiful cars in the Corral. Even though it rained, thank goodness you didn't need to slog through the mud as we used to do. Rog
  14. Our SDC chapter, the Long Island Chapter celebrated Drive Your Studebaker Day and day later on Sunday, Sept. 13th. We held our rain date for our annual Studebaker Reunion and Orphan Car Sunday in Massapequa, NY. Fortunately, the weather turned out well for our show and everyone seemed to have a great time. Out show is the ONLY orphan car show all season. Rog
  15. 10W-30 detergent oil is a safe bet. Run it for a few miles, then drain it again and refill with 10W-30 again. Rog
  16. I've been using Nu-Finish on my modern cars and it holds up very well. However, on my vintage/antique cars, I really like Mothers Carnauba cleaner/wax. Very good shine. Rog
  17. This may be a little late, but try Studebaker International. They have a very comprehensive catalog of parts. They also have some stuff that's not in the catalog. Give them a try. Rog
  18. I think the gentleman was thinking more of PT boats. I think that the PT boats were powered by Packard straight 8 engines during WWII. Rog
  19. As has been mentioned previously, that car is NO '36 Ford. It's been heavily modified and, to me, it's worthless. I think that this is the wrong place to discuss a hot rod on an AACA forum. I'm sure that if you go on to a modified car website, you will get a more reliable value for what it is. Sorry I couldn't be more positive. Rog
  20. I just watched the Jay Leno segment, driving the '50 Nash Ambassador Custom. I didn't know he had one. It brought back some terrific memories of my dad's '50 Nash Ambassador in the same two tone green paint job. Boy, I loved that car. I even took my New York State driver's test on that car in 1954. My biggest concern during the test was parallel parking because the rear visibiltiy wasn't the best. However, I aced the parking and the test in general. I remember that Dad's '50 Nash was one of the best riding cars I've ever been in. I wasn't the greatest handling car in the world , but no worst that other cars of that era. The big six cylinder engine had a lot of torque as I remember. The Statesman model looked the same, but it had a shorter front end with a much smaller flat head six. They were beautiful cars and I'm glad that Jay Leno has the twin of my dad's car. Thanks for the memories. Rog
  21. Hello all, I'm planning to purchase a new set of tires for my Model A Ford. What's good is that there is a choice of brands to buy. I've heard some good things about Lester tires. Have any of you had experience with this brand, either good or bad? Thanks. Roger
