  1. Very nice cluster. If you’re interested, please send me a PM.
  2. Here is a 1950 gauge cluster in exceptional condition. The chrome and glass are nearly flawless. The back looks as good as the front. The speedo gear turns easily by hand. These are $150 and higher on evil bay. I would like to pass this along to an AACA member for $100 plus shipping. If you are interested, send me a PM and I’ll send you more pictures. If you include your email, I’ll give you a shipping quote. Free pick up at Charlotte AutoFair, Hamburg (PA) swap meet or even Spring Carlisle if you like.
  3. I had the forethought to marry a gal who is nearly 11 years my junior. The government allows me to compute my starting point for the RMD based upon her age. The end result is I can hold off a few extra years. Of course, the government will get their cut eventually. Even if you die and leave your 401k (or 401a) to them, they will pay the taxes.
  4. I have 4 cars. My wife and I raised 2 children, both sons. Daughters work just as well. I took them to Hershey, Carlisle, and involved them in the hobby. They both grew up loving cars- maybe not the cars I like- but cars. We sat down and decided how the cars will be divided. Each gets 2. The titles are signed. Upon my passing, they can process the title change as a gift. The government gets about $20. After that, if they want to sell them to buy a Honda, or Lancia- that’s great. Don’t wait until someone else’s has to decide for you.
  5. Not a chemist, but those are oils intended for diesel engines and would have extreme detergent properties. Your gasoline engine wants a thin film on certain surfaces and the CC/CD oils might not provide it.
  6. This looks similar to the 1941 Nash horn button, but the stripes are rotated 90 degrees. Any ideas? Thanks!
  7. A quick check seems to indicate it is correct for a 1933 Nash Big Six only. Thanks!
  8. Ok, ‘53 Buick steering wheel and 1950 Cadillac gauge cluster are correct. Now how about the top and bottom clusters, the nice old pieces?
  9. DK: The greatest in the World! I miss that entertainment at Hershey; just before walking back to our vendor spaces and sleeping in an uncomfortable truck.
  10. I wonder how many remember the Atlantic City car show when it was held in the old convention center- home of the Miss America pageant. It was always a long drive in cold February weather; followed by a long search for a reasonable (ha!) parking space; and then a long walk to the arena. There was an active swap meet and I barely remember the auction. Quite a departure from BJ and Scottsdale warmth!
  11. It seems that , perhaps, you can claim only the net profit providing you itemize deductions and claim your activity is a business. However, those of us who take the standard deduction and claim our sales to be a hobby- we might be required to pay income taxes on the gross sales!?! And if you live in one of half a dozen states that have lowered the threshold to $600, the pain may begin with tax year 2021.
  12. I wonder how many AACA members, like me- buy and sell antique auto parts all year. We buy at Hershey, we sell at Hershey, we buy at Carlisle, we sell on eBay. You get the idea. So now eBay and PayPal send us a 1099-K. We were told their would be a threshold of $20,000 in sales and 200 sales; but now it seems that has been changed to $600. So very few of us met the latter, but many of us meet the new. Some States had already set the lower threshold. Perhaps we have a tax expert or several experts here. Can you give us a few pointers?
  13. First day brought snow flurries but no traffic issues. All the vendors are inside. Lots of tools, restoration supplies, and models. Enough car parts to keep you interested for a few hours. A few cars for sale outside. Open all day Saturday if you’re close.
  14. Great video. It will make attending this year’s DAF more meaningful. Thanks.
  15. Yes, Winter Carlisle. Not like the picture below. It will be held in the Expo Center, the same building used for the collector car auctions at other Carlisle events. The doors open Friday at noon. There will be indoor and outdoor vendors. Last year the Allentown event, Automania, was held here and was well attended. Dress warm and let’s hope it doesn’t snow!
  16. Nice brass plaque. 1955, Great condition. $10 plus $2 postage. Will send to Canada! Send PM.
  17. Another great concept, poorly executed, resulting in a quick death.
  18. Living here in Maryland, safely (?!?) within the “ ozone transport zone”- we are forced to buy fuel with 10% ethanol. So I drive several miles outside the country to southern PA to but ethanol-free gas. It works well in my antique cars, my lawnmower, chain saw, snow blower, etc. Now I see a local gas station has fuel with isobutanol instead of ethanol. The EPA accepts it as an “oxygenation agent”. Without starting a political discussion, is this a suitable replacement for my fuel buying trips to PA? Thanks.
  19. The old town, located on the extreme southern edge of Carroll County in central MD, is across the stream from Howard County. It’s been invaded by yuppies and features quaint shops and nice restaurants. A Hummer there today wouldn’t raise a single eyebrow.
  20. I was spoiled as an adolescent and young adult. My friend and his father operated a large auto recycling operation about 30 miles NW of Baltimore. I was afforded unlimited wandering privileges. Later my brother and I helped with some building improvements. One day I assisted with the removal of a weathered Duesenberg touring car that was destined to reside atop the frame of a Ford pickup truck frame. Sad, I thought at the time- but better than slowly rusting away.
