  1. there is not much information available about the flashlight, tire guage and the pen. were all three of these items part of the car from the beginning or was the tire guage and flashlight only available on the convertible, there dont seem to be many around. who out there knows??? the pen came with my 89 so i know that part is right. there also seems to be a difference in the owners manual covers, mine is the fold over kind with the pen and others have the zippered case again what year did all this take place. thanks but everyone needs useless information that could be important in the future
  2. i had the same problem and my lights would only come on when i pressed the fog light switch. i pulled the light switch on the left side of the dash and i had shorted wires where they had rubbed togather, so i taped them off and took the switch apart which is a simple job, cleaned up all of the contacts and presto no more problems. now they all light including the lights on the console
  3. i know that there has been several posts on insurance coverage for reattas and i was wondering if anyone had ever done business with classic automobile insurance in indianapolis indana. i have requested info from a lot of companys and they are the only ones who seem to be interested in doing anything for a car that is not 20 years old. is there any info out there about this company they are cheaper than my everyday ins company any help would be appreciated thanks
  4. jim it couldnt have been a wanna be they would only use color duct tape to match the car as close as possible.and usually the stick on price lable from eddie b is still attached no. it had to be a redddddddneck. they always use gray. see a lot of that kind of thing here in kansas..

  15. has anyone else been watching the pewter reatta on e-bay? item 746549518 does anyone have any information on where this came from, i have never seen one, it looks nice. where will the bidding end its already through the roof...
  16. mine does the same thing and it does go off but the door has to be reopened, just lifting the handle will not set it off. that is how it is made to work isnt it
  17. while looking for some parts for my car several weeks ago a ran across a 1988 red and tan reatta in a salvage yard, while most of the parts were gone i just went on, then the other day i was back over to the same yard and for some reason i started talking to one of the junk jockies and he told me about the seats and the center console and the shifter etc being inside the building somewhere where they have been for years,,,i went looking, there they were new but very dusty seats tan suede i think with out a scratch or evem a wrinkle in the leather. the shifter and most of the console is also there. i asked what he wanted for the seats and he told me 350.00. they were 16 way and i know that the switch on the drivers seat is missing and i dont know about any of the mechanical stuff but i know the seats are as good as new. i will try to find out any more information if anyone wants it contact me at igor@wichitausa.com. i have blue seats but if i needed tan i would buy them in a heart beat. anyone interested let me know
  18. i read everybodys post on test and flush and then how to do it, but how often do you have to do it..huh is this once a year or once in a great while. i would do it but the car sits most of the year and can it be done in the spring when things are warm. oh i am talking about brakes but then most of YOU knew that. KEEP ON FOLLOWING THAT YELLOW BRICK ROAD
  19. thought that i had the same problem but then i noticed that the pod lights were not on either. i pushed the fog light switch and presto i had the shifter lights and the pod lights the problem was in the headlight switch.
  20. i took out the headlight switch and cleaned it up. the first thing i did was find a doner car in a salvage yard, i this case it was an 89 riviera and got the switch and i took that one apart to see how it was made, reallly simple, then i took mine apart and did the same thing and presto it works like new. i did repair the wires also. now i am taking the whole dash apart and going to clean up all the contacts on all the switches to avoid any trouble.
  21. finally got around to see what was going on with my light switch, the dash lights would not come on unless the fog lights were on so thanks to everyone here i finally took it apart. when i got the switch out there were several bare wires one was black and one was orange and one was yellow with a purple stripe. i taped all of the wires and sprayed contact cleaner on the switch and guess what everything works,,,also the headlight retract also started to work they must somehow be tied in togather. i still dont see the value of the headlight retract switch but im sure it has a purpose. my seat still dont work but thats another story boy this car has a lot of wires i really wonder if they ALL somewhere surely they do
  22. contact me at Igor@wichitausa.com and i will bet we can work something out...shoot me the price and your phone number and i will call tomarrow
  23. it is really hard to believe that a service manual at a good price is so hard to get. e-bay has plenty of them but at the last second up and up and up. i have bid on several and each time the high bidder named tgoleary takes over mmmmmmmm fishy maybe. thanks had to vent feel better now. still need manual for an 89 plus does anyone know if the tire guage was ever a standard item and if so what year...yes i am still looking for one of them also thanks
