  1. If you have no history of this engine you don't know why it's stuck. It could just be a rusty valve stem or the crank could could be tied in a knot {blowed up}. At least take off the oil pan for a looksee. And right now is a good time to look for freeze cracks, could also be a cause of it being stuck. If it's broke it may save you lots of time and effort.
  2. I'm reading a lot of concerns about tank linings and the new crap they are calling gasoline. I'm not sure I would use a liner unless it was really needed, they didn't have a liner when new. You can get rid of ALL the rust with a solution of molassas and water. 3 parts water to 1 part molassas is amazing.
  3. 1 Drive the DB as often as I can! 2 Put the new engine in the Camaro, so it gets back on the road.
  4. ShawnP, can your radiator be repaired? Dwollam, that's good. Dave from Bend must be psychodelic because I heard from him last night.
  5. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> Are you a DB club member? If not, join. It is the best 20 bucks you'll ever spend! Dave </div></div>Better hurry, it will be the best $25 you ever spent after Jan. 1. BTW, dwollam, hope you DBers are OK up there after the big storm? I emailed someone else in Bend and haven't heard back yet, everything OK?
  6. I find it amusing that you would list your cars for sale in your signature after a speech like this! The hemi clone Cuda, that turned into a big lawsuit, I referanced in my clone thread was from N.Y.
  7. Seeing that you own a '69 Hurst Olds, I'll bet we find out where that line should be drawn if when you start sanding for a repaint and find a burnt orange cowl with dark green quarter panels. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
  8. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Fraud would involve intending to deceive. My hair is starting to hurt! If a real vin tag is placed on what looks like a real car how long is the fake story going to be told? It's still a fake. The Dynamark and CARS bodies are fantastic for what they are, but they should NEVER have a real vin tag attached to them.
  9. Your example of the truck constitutes what's called a reconstructed vehicle in Pa. which gets a state issued blue vin tag.
  10. I've been told it violates Federal law to place a vin tag from one vehicle on another vehicle. This makes the new repro '69 Camaro, '57 Chevy convertibles, and '48-52 Chevy pickups very questionable. It violates Pa. state law to give an "open" {signed but not transfered} title to someone else. It's a $500 fine for both the owner and buyer. It's a long story, but I could explain how I know that.
  11. Can be both intermitant and variable speed hand operated! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Use a little Rain-X, really works.
  12. I doubt the Master Parts book is going to tell you what you want. The pictures in it are drawings. The Book of Information for '24, I think it would be the 17th Edition ?, would have more photographs but they are black and white. What you really need is to find an original '24 business coupe in the club and takes lots of pictures. Some materials are differant for differant body styles, that's why I recommend finding a car as close to yours as possible, build date too. I'm not sure they ever made 2 DBs exactly alike even though they all look the same.
  13. The '24-'25 Fisher Body Four passenger coupe has a factory heater, sheet metal housing around the exhaust manifold with piping to the passenger side front floor grille. It actually works quite well. The manifold housing has a summer/winter trapdoor and the floor grille has a sliding vent to close it when not wanted. It probably didn't show up in the regular Master Parts catalog because the Fisher had it's own section for Fisher specific parts. As most of the body of the Fisher is simalar to a Chevy I'm not sure if the heater is the same.

  15. Your best bet would be the CD version of the newsletter, covers from the first issue. It is searchable. I would search mine for you but this computor takes forever and three days.
  16. All I'm saying is someone's connected!! If you know what I mean?
  17. The Nov./Dec. AA floated across the creek today. Good grief the same car is in 4 pictures!!
  18. Leadfoot is correct. What model coupe do you have, business or four passenger Fisher?
  19. I've heard of the converters, was not sure how they worked. VW used some during WWII, even had wood burning powered vehicles. Thanks for the link and info.
  20. OK, now YOU have some explaining. What is the modification, how does it work? I see the extra manifold and piping that's not DB. And the starter is blocked off, now that you show the left side, must you hand crank? You are going to leave it this way aren't you?
