Son has a 1991 Skylark with 14 inch wheels. With all the pot holes here in Pa he has lost all 4 wheel covers. I am tired of replacing them. Was wondering if I could find something like they use on the police cars which is a chrome center piece that looks like it is held on by the lug nuts. The other option is to just replace the lugs with chrome lug nuts and forget about it. It is a extremely nice car and I thought some of the Reatta folks could offer a suggestion.

In this cold weather I would think most everyone is having antenna problems? Does anyone have any ideas on how to keep the antennas working on my 2 Riviera's that are kept outside. Currently 14 degrees here in South East Pa.
The 99 Riviera radio works with the antenna down for local FM stations while the 89 is useless without an extended antenna.
I bet Barney has some thoughts?

I thought the 89 has the rope seal where you drop the oil pan and the rear main cap? This was changed in 1990 I believe?

Watch the valet parking jockey's in NYC. I always used a rental car if I had to drive into the city. Not sure about the Hilton but some garages use elevators to jockey you car to another floor. Never had a problem but always held my breath. Be sure and give the car jockey a big tip.

I purchased one for my 1989 Riviera (quite sure it will fit other 7th generation Riviera's but not sure) I elected to go with the finished one instead of bare wood ($10.00 more)
The guy who makes these things is a master craftsman with wood work. I highly recommend them.

My dad had a Slant six(Super six with a 2bbl carburetor) It had solid lifters and yes I know the trick to back off on the rockers it worked but made it a bit noisy. Trophy run at Atco against a Falcon and bought home a trophy. Had to hide it from dad.

I puled out one of my very old Mopar books. They had 3 versions of the Wedge 440 335hp 370hp and 385hp in 1971. The Hemi was rated at 425hp They all had Hydraulic lifters except the Hemi.

Thanks for the memories. I remember the names well! Of course we had the factory guys called the Ramchargers (Dodge) or the Golden commandos (Plymouth). We had a local guy who use to run his cuda Hemi or Hemi under glass by the track name of Mr. 5 or 50.
Give me a good wedge 440 and a 727-b Torqueflite a good gear ratio 3:90 or 4:11 a good set of M&H slicks and of course a great driver and the Elephant could be beat in the 1/4 mile provided you got that hole shot.
I use to race at Atco and Raceway park in New Jersey under the name of Charlie Mopar
While some of the newer cars may be as quick or even quicker that the old muscle cars. nothing beats the sound of burning rubber carburation and exhaust growling.
Last time I went to Atco to watch it was interesting to see young guys running the old 60's muscle cars that were older than they were.
My performance toys now are my 99 Supercharged Riviera and my Cadillac Platinum DTS (300hp lead sled 3:70 axle ratio)
To bad we got to get old!

I am not a Hemi (The elephant) expert but use to race against them in my 68 GTX 440 Torqueflite 728B 3:90 axle ratio at the drags.
They had 2 versions the full race and the street Hemi. The Street Hemi was the only one I ever saw. It had lower compression. Around 10 to 1 To my knowledge NONE came factory air and they ALL had solid lifters. The street race was reserved for oval racing and I could not imagine hydraulic lifters or AC.. compression version was very high something like 12 to 1.

Pro speedo use to be in Edmonton Alberta Canada and moved to Anaheim California. I pulled out my Money order from 2008 and he charged me $275 to straighten out the ViN and mileage that were corrupted. Make sure you complete the commercial invoice Exactly the way "Dwayne" wants it so it flows smoothly thru customs. He paid the return shipping via FEDEX. I shipped it to him via FEDEX but have no idea what I paid back in 2008 since I was under a substantial corporate discount program at that time.

In my case United Radio in East Syracuse NY sent me a prepaid UPS shipping label. via email. I just boxed it up and placed the label on it and dropped it in a UPS drop box. My price was exactly the same $97.50. I sent them a bank cashiers check. They returned almost immediately. Installed and it works perfectly. Got same unit back!

I have a Bulldog aftermarket remote for doors and trunk lock/unlock on my 89 Riviera and it works great. The FOB is one of the older ones they use to use and looks OEM

The presets mentioned by Padgett are very important. On my 89 Riviera the rear load levelers (air shocks) did not work because Reatta's do not have that option. If I remember correctly Barney posted a procedure that made it easy to go into the CRT and make the changes so the options matched the car.
These are just little things you have to do to get it back to normal.
Do not take the car to any place that transmits mileage to Carfax until you get the correct mileage on the EE Prom or you will have to deal with them to get it corrected. (some dealers, Body shops, Emission testing or state inspection facilities)

Pick a GM dealer where you can get a discount. Get part number and run it thru GM parts direct to get comparison. Add shipping and handling with GM parts direct. I pulled out receipt from my dealer dated 11/10/2011 the part number for my 1989 Riviera was 89018942. The dealer charged me $370.69.That includes a pretty healthy discount this dealer gives me for being their best customer. It has a lifetime guarantee.
As info I stayed with R-12 because I have a large supply of it. I had to bring my own hoses to the dealer to use to charge the system.

A word of caution. He is great BUT check your chip as soon as you get it back to be sure it has correct mileage and correct VN. I had to send mine back twice to get it correct. This can screw up CARFAX and decrease the value of your car. I posted a while ago about a jump start that messed up the mileage chip or called ee prom.

As information I have used a place called Speaker Exchange in Tampa Fl. for both my 1989 and 1999 Riviera. Recently they rebuilt the 1999 door speaker for $40.00 plus shipping phone 813-237-4800. Just in case someone needs it.

prospeedo.com can program mileage and VIN for a high price and you have to sign the certification they supply. You have to change the Vin as well.

The Mevotech catalog is wrong They list the 1986 to 1996 Riviera as all taking the same lower control arm. The one I will be receiving tomorrow via Amazon Prime will have to be returned. A lot of sellers have them listed incorrectly on ebay and Amazon that will NOT fit the 86 to 89 era. Tech services at Mevotech called and they need to correct the catalog. My shop located one locally from a salvage yard.
