  1. Holy thread resurrection! Nearly 9 years old. Excellent follow up information however.
  2. My son is an electronic version member and has received his ballot the same day my print copy was received. It was voted and returned the next day.
  3. Be surprised. They made them. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_LeSabre . Heff, What makes you so sure the engine in there now is the original engine? Have you verified production engine codes/etc? What transmission is in the car? (never mind. You posted before I could hit enter ).
  4. Probably a bigger deal than you realize. Starters on different sides, accessories in different locations, etc. You would be much better keeping a Buick in a Buick and an Olds in an Olds. And even though they were the apx same displacement, virtually nothing interchanges between say a Buick 455, an Olds 455 and a Pontiac 455.
  5. First, SCO = Special Car Order. This was the method of Buick doing something out of the ordinary such as paint, options, etc. Chris, you should recall that all 1971 GSX's were SCO's and their body number was very low, as if they (Buick) held back body numbers for special stuff. My personal 1971 GSX is body number 1027. To find out what SCO 1022 was, you will have to have historical documents that I believe are no longer available. Somewhere in time, there was a description to "Paint SCO 1022" such as, "hemi orange" or a Riv only color for 1968. Back in those days, one could order just about anything you were willing to pay for.
  6. Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Packing for South Bend all evening after work today. This is an Ohio car all it's life, hence there is rust. Trunk is gone on drivers side but center and passenger side sections don't look too bad. Haven't got the interior out yet to determine if the floors are any good. Doors have surface rust along the bottom shell, skins look pretty good. Fenders have patch panel size rust behind the wheels in typical areas. Wheel skirts look solid as do the quarters. Hood and deck lid have various size holes, all repairable. I'll try to attach some photos here. NOTE - FRONT BUMPER HAS BEEN SOLD. I'd take $700 for it...it's worth that much scrap, twice that to a derby guy. Pickup in the central Ohio area.
  7. Just as the title says, I'm parting out a 1973 Electra. I'm keeping the interior, wheels and a few other minor pieces, the rest is going away one way or the other. The only thing I don't have are the heads, intake manifold and engine block. Everything, and I mean everything else is there. We are going to SB, so if you want something and are making the trip also, you can let me know and we'll meet up there. Shipping would be a whole lot cheaper as there would be none!

    Buick

And one would do that how? Not that I have anything remotely close to what you are looking for, but I'm sure there is someone here that does. However I do seem to have the 1972 big Buick market covered for any of your future endeavors..
  9. Shotgun!!! I'm calling shotgun!!!
  10. My friend, Duane Heckman, is ready to start production of the correct hood insulation for 71-72 full size Buicks. I mailed him one of mine from my 1972 Estate Wagon so he could have an exact pattern. $35 plus shipping from Philly. If you ever think you will need any, now is the time to get in line. The stuff sold by CARS, etc is not correct for the 71-72 full size Buicks. Here's the link for a thread on this at V8Buick.com: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.ph...53#post2133253 . You should contact Duane for cost of shipping via V8Buick.com or post here and I will get him the information to him on your order if you are not a member on V8Buick. Will need your address including zip code and a phone number. PM's or email's work best for this sensitive information. You may PM me here, Duane on V8Buick or email direct to Duane at: bdheckman@att.net . Emailing Duane directly is probably best as all I will do is forward your email to him. Thanks for your interest! PS: This is correct only for 1971 & 1972 full size Buicks. LeSabre, Centurion, Electra and Estate Wagon. Riv's have a slightly different pattern.
  11. Hi Janne, Sure, just click: TRICO Classic .
  12. Hey Adam, 13" blades, right? Google Trico Classic. They are the original silver color frames and brand new. I ordered 3 sets for my 72 big cars through Advanced Auto and were here in 2 days. Only about $6 per blade!
  13. Alan, Let me ask you a question. Is the color of your engine a pale powder blue or a (somewhat) darker metallic blue? My Skyhawk, and I think most of the 1975 model year Buick's, were painted with the one-year-only metallic blue. Here's a photo of the Skyhawk's engine: I have a can of the matching paint at the office. Let us know how yours was painted. Added in edit: Alan, here's the link to a thread over on V8Buick about this subject: Escapee from Paint Jail
  14. The 1237661 are the, at least most likely, original heads for your car. They were cast August (H) 18th (18), 1971 for the 1972 model year. The other heads are much later smog heads and have very poor performance characteristics. Here's a link to Buick big block casting numbers: Buick Big Block casting numbers . The transmission serial number is stamped on the pan rail just above the transmission oil pan. Paint code 57 is Antique Gold Poly. There should be another number or letter (if equipped with a vinyl roof). Trim code 137 is Medium Tan bench seat. See Color Chip Selection . With the market in the current condition, a concours frame off restoration would cost about 3 times the current worth of the vehicle when done. Ask away with any questions you have and I will be glad to help answer.
  15. It was an option on full size Buicks at least through the mid 70's. Funny side note...My oldest son graduated high school in 2006 and I had just bought a brand new 2006 Pontiac GTO. 400 hp, 6 speed manual, Torid Red with black leather. Really nice car and with the LS2 6.0 liter V8, no slouch what so ever. He asks to take the GTO on his prom. I'm thinking no, but he had (and still does) a level head. I relent to he and to the one who must be obeyed. Unbeknownst to either, the GTO features a speed buzzer but it's electronic and takes a couple of steps via an electronic menu. So I get a FRANTIC call from the boy, about 11pm, saying something is wrong with the car, it's making an emergency like ding-ding noise! I can hear the alarm in the background and know exactly what is going on. I calmly tell him if he would drop his speed below 70mph, the noise would cease. I hear the ding-ding stop and he goes "oh, uh, thanks dad". I still kid him about that today...
  16. For every part you will need, I would contact TA Performance. TA Performance Products Inc. - Your Leader in Buick Automotive Parts and Accessories is the link to their website. In my opinion, it would be worth the cost of a phone call to them to explain your situation (overseas, shipping, etc.). Have your rebuilder get a list of parts you will need and call them. Ask to talk with Mike (the owner) and tell him I sent you. He's a great guy. Added in edit: You do NOT want to go over .030 overbore on the cylinders. Mike has all the specifications your rebuilder needs to follow (this is a BUICK and not a Chevy - all the bearing/ring gaps/etc clearances are different and MUST be adhered to). If, for example, you set your bearing clearances to chevy specs, you will ALWAYS have low oil pressure
  17. Count the valve cover bolts. 5=455, 6=350.
  18. SO???? Those things have never stopped you before.
  19. Me thinks Adam needs this one for his travels to and from Cincinnati;). Price is right and it's in his back yard. I already know he loves Burnished Cinnamon!
  20. See this thread over on the Centurion forum: towing capacity . I will agree it is not the best choice to tow that much weight. In fact, I would not do it.
  21. Don't worry guys. I've met her and she's a keeper!
  22. Oh, I knew it back at BPG. I told Jodie, yep, their going to get married, mark my words. I think she's a catch, if you don't mind me saying so. A real sweetie! We'll have to get together when you make "the move". And you you need any help, just ask! Oh, as long as she said "yes", you're engaged!
  23. May I be the first to congratulate you and Atena! You two are the perfect match, if I do say so myself. You know, I'm only about a hour and one half up the road...
