  1. I remember when that car could be bought for a scant 1.2 million.
  2. Henry Magno will be showing the recently completed 1939 Mercedes-Benz 170 V Roadster at the Boston Cup show on Boston Common this Sunday. http://thebostoncup.com/ and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Boston-Cup/145250372151691
  3. Dav, the Cab b was for sale 2 or 3 years ago so I do not know if it sold.
  4. Considering he found it on eBay I'm not so sure hiding it from us will keep any great "finds" secret. That may be good advice for the car hidden in a garage down the road but not one that is currently averaging 35 views per hour.
  5. A car with old or original paint will tell you what is under it. Primer or fresh paint will be hiding all the problems in the world.
  6. 1. Never borrow money to buy a collector car. Ever. 2. I like that the charger is in Modesto. 3. I do not like that it is in primer, but a car with old or original paint.
  7. The "ruxton automobile book" was supposed to be published in August but I see no way to buy one. Anyone know?
  8. To clarify my comments, the powder blue 8-35 sold 4 or 5 years ago. The one in the club newsletter was a 8-31 older restoration. I do not believe it has been sold.
  9. The Stutz ornament has been reproduced. I suggest you post some pictures down below in the Stutz forum as that makes a big difference. The Frazer ornament is a paperweight.
  10. Craig, I think there are a couple of older restoration 500k Cab C and Cab B cars that are available for under 1 million. I know in the case of one I see 2-300k in sorting/cleanup to make it nice. I could be wrong about the pricing as I have not directly talked to the owners.
  11. That is a cool car. I think restoring it back to original may not work financially unless the car was free.
  12. +1 this is a misconception I have heard for years. If you remove the moisture the chemical reaction ends.
  13. I think there are a lot of lessons here. Btw, you should be insuring the car for yourself, not the shipper. If I buy a car, I call my insurance company, give them the serial number and they insure it. About a month later I go and get the title from the state. I'm confused about the relationship between the title and insurance. That said, he has given you an out to ethically back out of the deal. BUT, I'll reiterate that all of this should be been figured out before making the deal.
  14. I don't think this car would bring 200k restored but maybe I'm wrong. Also, I think you are underestimating the restoration costs. That said you should advertise it at your asking price and see what happens. Good luck.
  15. pm victor - v.milke above and he will help you contact the seller.
  16. Here you go. Courtesy of our friend Victor who saw the car not too long ago.
  17. I like the 170 Cab A better than the roadster. The lines are really nice. If you have talked to Henry he restored a 37 or 38 to perfection about 15 years ago. Drove it all over New England. It had the overdrive top gear I believe so it was really nice car to drive. Keep us posted on your progress.
  18. Hey Bill, there seems to be a lot of cars coming to market so that gives us something to talk about. I'm excited we figured out what happened to the Roehrs 540k
  19. Just to clarify, the car was stolen and recovered so there is no concern on the museum's part. Hayden, I will pm you my contact info.
  20. True, but I'm sure the seller thinks he has a deal. If you have talked to him on the phone and felt comfortable and you google his name and a bunch of law suits don't turn up you are probably ok.
  21. Nice. I have always liked the Cab B. I remember Richie Kline was selling a completely original one for about 45k back about 10 years ago. Missed opportunity.
  22. Seems like you already made a deal. Shouldn't you have thought about this earlier? Forget about escrow. No seller will bother with that.
  23. For 320 parts contact Henry Magno at http://www.magnorestorations.com/ And post some pictures of your car!
