  1. Ed is fixated on the 1.5 seconds he is in the video. But for everyone else, here is the entire thing:
  2. This is from Omnia under their "new" inventions section. It reminded me of the robotic dogs you see now.
  3. My wife is awfully accommodating - so far. As someone who has watched my kids drag home non-car crap that I know I'm going to get stuck with, I'm understanding now. What is funny, is he got twice as pissed when I dragged home a fully rebuilt early 50s era horizontal air compressor and stuffed it in the shed. This was much better than his crappy vertical one but took up 3 times the room. I still have it, completely hooked up and I've never actually used it once.
  4. As a kid, I always thought these were a step up from a MGB. But two things always stuck in my mind: 1. The rear end always sat on the gound like the springs were shot from day one. 2. They were all rotted to death in the North East as soon as they were 12 months old. This car looks really nice, but I'm on the fence about the color.
  5. Nice! How many R2 Stick cars did they build? I'll see 3 or 4 Avanti's every year in that configuration, but it seems like 1 GT every 10 years like that.
  6. I've been looking for a 69 Liberty blue stick car for years. Want a blue interior and white top like mine. Very hard to come by.
  7. I paid 325 bucks for the convertible. It was 11 years old, rusted, and had been sitting for two years outside with no nose after a front end crash. The oil fill cover on the valve covers was missing from both sides and there was rocks in the valve train. My dad, a lawyer by trade, stick welded the entire car back together again for me. My buddy Byard Libby (who is still in business) did motor and the finish body work in his chicken coup out behind his mom's house in the dead of winter. I helped, it would take an hour for the pot belly stove to get the temp up. Sold it when I was in college to a local kid and never saw it again. You would NOT want this car. The 68 came out of Smith's junk yard in Clinton Mass. I had to borrow half the 400 bucks from my girlfriend. My dad lost his mind when I dumped it in his driveway. Sold it a year or so later to a buddy who drove it home with no plates. It sat in his yard for a year when he sold it to another buddy. Required a roll back to get it this time, while they were winching it on to the truck the frame snapped in half. Straight to the junk yard.
  8. The pictures help explain the price. I think you need a rust free hulk that you can steal a chassis from.
  9. Amen! Newport is so much cooler than either MV or the Cape. No comparison.
  10. What I'm shocked by is Ed hasn't noticed that MV is a dry island with the exception of one town. There are two liqueur stores and no bars. The Cape stinks too, but at least you have two bridges that allow you to escape. When the ferries stop running or get messed up or over booked you are screwed if you are on the island side of the line.
  11. My 69 in Liberty Blue with Cragars. My 68 is in the background. I almost got tossed out of the house when I dragged that home.
  12. It has been around a while. My crack about the ad was regarding the description. They actually posted quite a few good pictures.
  13. if you look at “full size photos” you will see lots of frame and engine shots.
  14. What does Plymouth Rock and Martha’s Vineyard have in common?
  15. So Ed, are you actually on MV, or maybe on another Island that happens to be right next to it? Also, 10 days is enough time to cover the entire Island walking.
  16. As somebody who as spent way too much time taking the ferry back and forth to MV I'm hopeful for you that late Sept is a sweet spot. My experience is that MV is either so crowded you can't move (Summer) or so empty you are scared (Winter).
  17. Since this was my car as a kid (except mine was Liberty Blue) I know a little about them. Somebody smarter than me explain the 20 watchers on this auction? I could see a market at 15-20k. Not 45k. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Pontiac-GTO-there-/203446886047 his is an original 4 speed car with 64k original miles that has been stored for years with History as follows Protect Plate Original bill of sale Original dealer delivery checklist Build sheet most likely still in car Service records 2 owner car Not driven since 80’s Engine runs but has bearing knock This car is a Rare true numbers matching 4 Speed car with great documentation. The top is electric and functions perfectly with no rust issues on top The floor pans are incredible Lower rear quarters need repairs Coke bottle body is in great condition otherwise the doors have zero sag and open and close like New! This is a super car for a well documented RESTORE
  18. In honor of my friend Walt, who egged me on to spend a small fortune on 30 odd copies of Omnia magazine I'll post a cool picture that I've never seen before. The Salon issues are the ones to have and I think I got 3 or 4 in the batch. But all issues probably have 1/2 dozen cool pictures that I've never seen before.
  19. The more I look at this, the more I like it. I'm surprised it hasn't generated more comments, although it just reinforces in me that I like stuff that has a market of about 3 people.
  20. Like me, my kid always showed some interest in these and they are dirt cheap relative to other "cool" things. I never pulled the trigger because I figured I was going to be in for a shock when I finally climbed in to one. Of course, the other car he showed interest in was the AMX which probably would be a better idea, but 2 to 3 times the money for equivalent condition.
  21. Too bad they don't give us the tread width. Modern equivalent sizes never look right on the cars. They are always shorter and wider to my eyes.
