  1. I was in it at around 10, but gave up after the 2 minute clock kept kicking.

I still think that was a cheap price.  Should have gone higher.  At the last minute, I saw that the 2nd convertible top bow was fubar.  Kind of pulled me back a bit, as I know they are expensive to work on.

Given that Brian L's coupe went for $13k, this should have fetched at least that.

  2. $3500 is market for 15 years ago.  I think the seller is in the ballpark.

I have to say, the 4 door sedans are the MOST comfortable and solid driving "old" cars I've ever driven.  I've had a handful of the 4 door sedans and have loved them all.  Even the high mileage ones.  They are so solid and quiet.  If this was a 71, I would be on it like stink on ****.

  3. Up for sale is my 60 Electra 225 Riviera.  This is a really nice honest car that doesn't need really much of anything to just get in and enjoy.  I'll keep the BS to a minimum and get to the point...

I bought it in December from a club member in NY.  He was excellent to deal with, and made the transaction very smooth.  I didn't know my intention with the car when I bought it, so I took it one step at a time.  I'm at a point where I need to generate some funds for another project, so here it goes.

Things I've done to the car since purchasing:

     - new front door glass on both sides

     - recored heater core and sourced several parts to complete the assembly

     - repainted air cleaner lid

     - flushed radiator and entire cooling system with compressed air/water backwards and forward

     - replaced aftermarket cooling fan with factory fan and correct spacer to get it as close to the radiator as possible

     - replaced tires with correct bias ply 8.00x15 Coke 2 1/2" whitewalls

     - detailed and painted hubcaps

     - polished paint as well as possible

     - replaced headliner

     - replaced carpet

     - replaced front and rear seat cloth inserts - vinyl surrounds are still original

     - replaced rear package tray with correct mesh material and color

     - repaired driver front arm rest

     - replaced entire exhaust system with correct transverse muffler duals

    Known issues:

     - paint isn't perfect!  Several touch up spots and old repaired areas, but I'd say 50% original

     - Some rust evident in rockers.  Not terminal.  Truck floor is excellent.  Interior floor is decent with some minor rot at front corners where body mounts are (typical).  I've sealed it up, but doesn't qualify for my wall of fame for repair work LOL

     - radio doesn't work

     - washer pump doesn't work, but wipers do

     - engine has a noise.  Sounds like a knock, but I think it's piston slap.  I am uploading a youtube video that will highlight the noise.

That said, this car runs REALLY well.  It's strong.  Great oil pressure, seems to stay cool even when I push it.  Carb does not stumble or hesitate.

If the engine situation scares everyone from buying the car, I do have a running 63 425 I can swap in.  It's a direct bolt in, and no one would know unless they ran the numbers.  The price would go up significantly, though.

I am asking $14k OBO.  I think this is a reasonable price for the car, given everything that has been done to it.

  4. Ohhhhh Willie, they aren't that bad LOL

Now that I have installed 10,000 of them, I can usually get them right the first time.  Once in a while, I have one that goes wonky when I tighten it.  Those get chucked across the room and I start over with another one.  On that point, order an extra set when you buy them.

  5. Pretty car.  Would be a homerun for someone willing to get the door panels restored.  Those are kind of a beeitch, though.  If it was me selling it, I would have made the effort to get them done. (I say that now, but I don't know the seller's situation...)  It would be sold already, I think.
