  1. I honestly think that the LA site is one of the nicest chapter sites in the BCA...and I run the Gateway site It's a really good looking page!!
  2. The freeze plug is the rear drivers side one. It can probably be done with it in the car, but if I'm going to the trouble for this one, then which one is going to take a dump next? And it'll give me a reason to freshen everything up while it's out of the car.
  3. Update on the car: It now has a good set of brakes on it, and a nice set of chrome plated wheels. I also installed a transmission shift kit that stiffens up the shifts a bit for performance. I was supposed to do a cam swap this past winter, but my $$$ ran short...so that did not get done as I was hoping. Other than that, I've just driven it and put the top down on occasion...nothing has changed really. It is looking like I may have to pull the motor this fall/winter to repair a freeze plug that continues to seep. I can't seem to get it to stop. And while the motor's out....a complete gasket kit, paint, and some R&R of the front suspension may be in order. Although, I may just be dreaming. I really don't want to have to pull the motor, but it would be nice to get all that stuff clean down there, too. Every time I get under my car, I get depressed from seeing all the grease and oil caked all over the place. Here's an updated picture of the car: Oh, I had also pulled the big fat cargo springs out of the rear, and installed a set of stock ones I had in the LeSabre years ago. Now it sits level and pretty again! I was getting tired of the "rake" it had when sitting still. I bought a very nice sport steering wheel that matches the blue interior and have installed that, too. Hey, the car's starting to look good!
  4. I'm really late in getting these pictures posted...sorry!! Been taking care of weddings and other fun work-type deals.
  5. I guess that settles it! Now I have to gifure out what I want to do with it. I suppose I could cover the engine compartment with a platic sheet...along with the rest of the car, and clean the underside up...then get some semi-gloss black for it. I also need to buy some insulation to replace the ratty old crap that's in there now.
  6. It seems as though the previous owner of my car wanted the underside of the hood painted body color. I am wondering if this is correct or not. If it is, then I'll take the time to clean it. If not, then here comes the black spray bomb!!! It is such a nightmare to keep clean. I like the way it looks, but I just spent an hour on it...and I only got the front 1/3rd of the underside clean. I'd really like to just unbolt the thing and take some soap and water to it. I've attached a picture of the suspect.
  7. The switch in the dash is easy to replace. There is also a relay and a motor behind the back seat that can go bad. So you may need to check those as well.
  8. Here is my contribution to the photo gallery! There are about 90 pictures, so let them load.. http://www.buickpartsdirectory.com/batavia/
  9. I'm glad to have finally seen this car up close and personal, and to have met you!! I wish I could've spent some more time chatting, but I seemed to have no time to sit and hang with anyone last week. Bummer........ Faithful Pursuit is beautiful! I have some pictures, but have not loaded them yet.
  10. $1200 appears to be a fair price for that car, assuming it is reasonably solid.
  11. Try our friends at http://www.wheatbeltbuick.com/ Thanks for the plug, Brian
  12. Ah yes...radio delete.. Very interesting on these cars. They use the regular radio bezel with a cover plate that clips into the existing hole. Let's see if I can round up a picture....... It's a schematic of the whole dash clusterm but you can see the cover plate that goes over it.
  13. I just ran the car, and it's definitely coming from the plug in question. I don't think the parts stores are open this late on Sunday, but I'll check!
  14. I was changing my drivers header gasket when I saw a very small puddle of anti-freeze on the ground today, and it looks like it is the large freeze plug directly behind the motor mount. It looks very minor....I attached a picture. My question is, can I fix this quick? I am leaving for an 800 mile trip on Tuesday morning!! I also posted this on v8buick..
  15. hmnm. There are a couple cars that stand out as far as option lists go, but I'm unaware of any that have EVERY option available...on a single car, anyway. Some examples: http://www.buickcenturion.com/1971/eric_b/ http://www.buickcenturion.com/1971/adam_m/ (mine) http://www.buickcenturion.com/1971/tarheel_blue_vert1/ http://www.buickcenturion.com/1972/carl_s/ http://www.buickcenturion.com/1972/nutmeg_coupe1/ http://www.buickcenturion.com/1972/brad_c/ http://www.buickcenturion.com/1972/keith_b/ Ok I'm tired of going through the cars...didn't quite make it to the 73's! Here's a real cream puff that just sold on auction for around $10k - http://www.buickcenturion.com/1971/robert_p/
