  1. My vacuum weighs at least 30 lbs heavier now, from all the crud and dirt/rust that came out of the floor of the interior and trunk!! Yuck! It's fun working in the garage when it's 98* outside.
  2. Got the car home.. It is a dynaflow - not a triple turbine. The brakes work...sometimes. I had to keep one foot on the E-brake when I moved it around. It was like driving a stick Interior is absolutely rotten. I ripped the carpet out (what was left of it) and vacuumed out the rust and nut shells. It runs well, though!
  3. I don't think the rubber inserts themselves can be bought. I think the only way you can get them, is buy a good used set.
  4. Picking it up today! I hope I'm not the only one who loses sleep over this stuff.
  5. Taking the car out for some exercise today... TTT
  6. BJM - I think that's the only way I can justify having two cars
  7. Yep, the air poise suspension was replaced with coil springs. I am still unsure about the transmission, though. I'll have to wait and find out about that.
  8. TTT! Keep those bids coming! I have a lot of chrome to replate
  9. Willie, I got confirmation that is true on the buick-59 site. Thanks! Are you at/on your way to Flint?
  10. The subtle sweepspear of the full size 71's And some of the best ones were in the 50's!
  11. I understood the money issue when I was told about this car. I had actually seen this particular car 2 years ago when I was looking at another one in the same building. My friend Hank Deglman was with me when I saw it, and we checked it out for a few minutes. He told me, "You're not ready for a 58, yet." He then proceeded to tell me how much his chrome and stainless bill was for his 58 Roadmaster convertible. Well, I don't plan on handing over the entire pile of chrome to the shop at once, so I won't be sweating that all at one time. I need a project like this. I need a challenge! This fits the bill nicely
  12. Yes, and I neglected to ask the question. But I'm sure I will find out quickly when I actually obtain the beast. Now here's a question: I was looking through Kris Trexler's site, and noticed the underside of the trunk lids are different:
  13. Thanks Brian... I just remembered - it has a Wonder Bar radio, too. I, myself, look forward to digging in and learning about these cars. I know very little about the available options, temperments, and other issues with the 58's.
  14. I had to grab this one...I'll scratch it off my "dream car" list Factory AC, Air Poise suspension (was converted to regular shocks), 4 note horns, power windows, brakes, steering, and some other stuff I'm sure I don't understand yet. What a project car!! I could hardly sleep last night... Those are NOS drums there... It is actually supposed to be a Silver Mist car...it has had one repaint in a slightly darker color. The underside of the trunk lid has the original paint on it:
  15. Nope...you're talking about the 58, right? This one is Blue Mist with a white top.... I'll post details later.
  16. Gotta move it for the 58 Limited I just made a deal on.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250270407799 Very reasonable reserve! Not looking to make any money on this one. I hate to see it go, but I'm at my 2-car maximum, and I will NOT sell the Centurion
  17. Here's a bigger one...you can see the chrome accents.
  18. Aren't the inner parts of the chrome "louvers" supposed to be body color? And only the reliefs chrome? I'll have to dig up some photos of Hank's car.
  19. I thought that background looked familiar...Those pictures are from the St. Louis Car Museum. It appears they are advertising on a European website. Smart move, since it does seem these cars are highly desirable over there.
  20. <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: TexRiv_63</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I have no specific experience with this car, but on other GM cars I have sometimes run into a third bolt supporting the side or end of the starter opposite the bell housing bolts, usually with an L shaped bracket and attaching to the engine block, usually hard to get at. I have had good luck with a ratchet end box wrench as you don't need much room to swing it. Good luck! </div></div> I've seen the same bracket more than once on these cars. Check for one above the starter!
  21. No plate needed... You can buy mounts and frame pads from www.taperformance.com You'll need a big block fan shroud, too.
  22. That's Jimmy from the v8buick board! He's got quite the collection.

It's a 51 or 52 (I'm not smart enough to know the difference) Every time I see the commercial, I hope they show a little more of it, but it never happens.
