  1. Ronnie, You need to learn to read closer. I never said or implied the Reatta Division did not recognize the forum as one for its members. I only said it was not the official forum of the Division. The forum is for all those interested in Reattas including Division members. While I was posting our club director posted the inventory on this forum. I advised her yesterday of your concerns. Please buy up our remaining items so she does not have to continue to do two jobs. The license plates may not again be available. And please, I hope no one gives Anne grief about posting in the wrong section.
  2. Before we get into the usual hair splitting and sniping I would like to set the record straight. This is one reason I do not participate much in the forum of which I have been a member for quite some time. Of course the Reatta Division is a "club". By every definition we are a "club". We are a group that gathers for a common purpose, meets from time to time, has by-laws and we pay dues to support ourselves. The forum is a group of people who are interested in Reattas, meet here to discuss Reatta issues (mostly), help one another with Reatta issues, parts and etc and if folks see that as a club that is fine with me. The only reason for my post was to try and answer where the Reatta Division was with our regalia. For better or worse I have been an officer in the Division for a number of years and I feel as qualified as anyone on the forum to discuss the issue. For a long time the Reatta Division "club" has been selling Reatta items under written permission from GM. We have permission to use the Reatta sunburst logo. We purchase our regalia with club funds and offer it to our club members essentially at cost plus handling and shipping. One of our club members volunteers their time to do the design and ordering, storing, shipping, inventory control, and in addition loads all the regalia into a car and brings it to each Buick Club national meet, while paying all of their own expenses to do so. At the meet that volunteer runs the regalia table and recruits others to help. Much of this is done at the sacrifice of enjoying many of the other activities over the four day period. This all part of what "club" officers and coordinators do for their "club" We offered our regalia to our club members through our newsletter, our website and at our meetings. We have never attempted to keep other Reatta owners from purchasing our regalia items, but we felt no obligation to market to non-members. Non members could purchase by going to our website or attending a national event. The forum in my mind was not a good place to offer our regalia. It would need to go on the "buy-sell" area as I was reminded by one of our members recently when I inadvertently put my car in the wrong place. It would have to be "bumped" periodically so folks could see it. Our inventory would have to be increased with club funds to handle the additional requests. We would likely had to work out accepting Pay pal and credit cards and then raise the price of our items to cover the costs. Our coordinator would have to constantly updated the forum dedicated more time to handling and shipping orders. I cannot see how a reasonable person would believe we should do this to service Reatta owners who have not joined us and supported us. I do not mean this as a slight, but if we had more owners join and help with "club" matters we could be a much stronger advocate for the marque. It is part in parcel to this lack of help that we voted to dispense with regalia sales. Additionally, Reatta items have become fairly available through Ebay and other sources although I am not certain under what license they operate. If the forum members here want to call themselves a club that is perfectly fine, I invite you all who are not also members of the Reatta Division "club" to join with us and help make us stronger. I would venture to say that less than half our members participate on the forum and that far less than half of the forum members are Reatta Division members. Far too often I have read posts from those who are not Reatta Division members that criticize the way we operate our club, suggesting what we should do, but not offering to join and help us. I just wish folks could understand that those few of us who work hard to keep our "club" going could use a little less criticism and a little more help. Now I can step down off the soap box. Regards, Ed
  3. I think there may be a common misconception that this is an unofficial forum for the Reatta Division. Actually this forum has no connection at all to the Reatta Division of the BCA other than the fact that many Reatta Division members post here. I would guess that a majority of the posters here are not members of the RDIV which is a shame because we could be much stronger with numbers. To the point of Reatta regalia. The Division has sold regalia for years under permission from GM. Recently, however, it seems that there are a number of Ebay sellers that are offering Reatta regalia. In addition, we have not had any success in getting one of our members to step up and take on the position of regalia coordinator. In light of the above, the Division voted at its annual meeting to sell out the remaining inventory and then dispense with offering regalia. Our Director, Anne Gibson has been handling the disposition of the remaining inventory. Since there are only limited items remaining and we are not ordering any more, I had the regalia removed from our website. We published the remaining items in our newsletter and Anne may have put some out on Facebook, however, since I do not do Facebook I cannot say that for a fact. I hope this shed light on the situation. Ed Farnell Sec/Treas Reatta Division

  5. My convertible is back on Ebay. No reserve. Starting price is under $2,600. This is a chance for someone to pick up a convertible for a very reasonable price.
  6. Just listed one of my cars on Ebay. High mileage nice looking car with a realistic reserve. Red/tan Ed
  7. This car has been sold. Thanks for your PM inquiries. Ed
  8. I just brought home a 90 convertible Red and Tan that will have to be parted out. If you have any needs PM me or email me at eafarnell@gmail.com Ed
  9. Remove the bolster under the steering wheel. You will need to remove the panel that contains the courtesy light under the bolster, and the dash fascia to get to the screws holding the bolster. There are also two 10mm bolts at the bottom of the bolster. Not a bad job, but can take an hour to R&R. I guess you just have to decide how badly you need the bit. If you decide to tackle it, be careful as the tabs on the bolster can be very brittle.
  10. Just for the fun of it push down on the trunk lid while you turn the key or have someone push the button in the glove box. Sometime this works. If it does the latch needs adjusting. If that fails reach through the ski door and trip the orange lever on the latch. Good luck Ed
  11. http://columbia.craigslist.org/cto/5206725445.html This is my car. It is a pretty nice high mileage convertible. Ed

  13. I am sorry I gave ya'll so much to fight over. I thought I was posting on the buy - sell forum, however, you can see by the small number of posts I have made over the past 13 years that I am a novice poster. Factor that with my age and I should be considered for a pass. Anyway the car is still for sale and is not in correct place thanks to our moderator. If anyone thinks it would seriously help, I will fill out the long form, but in short it is a nice 91 (in other words low production and no TEVES).

  15. I have not had any luck in getting a disc out once it is stuck in the player. You will likely need to remove the player and send it in for repair. M&R in Saginaw, MI does a good job with a fast turn around time and reasonable rates. The last one I had done was $150. If you need help in removing the player, send me a PM and I will be happy to walk you through getting it out. Regards, Ed
  16. Some good ideas. I will try each to see if they work. Since top is tan will try ones without bleach first. Ed
  17. I have a Reatta with a dirty vinyl top. Have tried dawn dish soap, Blue Magic top cleaner and in one spot I tied a little 3M adhesive remover which usually works on anything. It is spotted with what almost looks like mildew. Anyone have any ideas? I wonder if a vinyl top can be dyed? Unfortunately the car has pretty high mileage and replacing the top is likely not an option since I need to sell it.
  18. There is a website puregas.com that lists all the stations around the country with Ethanol free gas. Some stations have Ethanol free regular, some midgrade and some high test. Rarely does a station carry Ethanol in more than one grade. Just go to the site, type in your state and then city. I do this whenever I travel in my British cars as they really do not like Ethanol. Kills the SU carbs and the fuel pumps.
  19. Just a reminder. I am leaving for BCA nationals on the 9th of June. I can take any of the above items with me. I also have several hoods doors and trunk lids that I will not ship, but could carry along. My route will take me through eastern NC, TN, KY, southern IN & IL, IA, KS, MO and northern GA. If you need any of these items and would be willing to meet me along the way, let me know before Monday afternoon the 8th. Ed
  20. Can anyone tell me how to put a picture with my signature? It went away with the change over. Thanks
  21. I have a good windshield for sale. Pick up in South Carolina only or I could deliver in route to Springfield, MO in June. I will be going to Iowa from SC and then to MO.. The gasket is dull but serviceable and there are two marks on the passenger side where they scratched it with the removal tool. These appear as white squiggly lines a couple of inches long and that may be able to be buffed out. I will take $175 if anyone wants to drive after it. I also have two very nice, almost mint, grey door panels for a 90 or 91. I would like $150 for the driver side and $75 for the passenger side in addition to shipping charges. PM me or email me at eafarnell@gmail.com
  22. I have taken Jim's advice and have revised the eBay listing to $599.99 and also stated that I tested the accumulator and it took between 6 to 9 pumps to turn off the red light.
  23. The grills and nos remote have been sold. The TEVES is on ebay for $399.99 and the headlight switch is also on ebay for $215. I am asking $165 for the coil pack and ignition module.
  24. I still have a boatload of parts new and nice used from this 91 coupe purchase. I also just parted out a nice 90 Driftwood that was smacked hard in the left front. It had a new rebuilt TEVES system, a mint headlight switch and a new coil pack and ignition module among some other parts that I took off. If anyone has any specific needs, let me know. I would be happy to reclaim some garage space. I also have a nice windshield with a so so gasket that came off the 90 coupe. I saved it and it is available for pick up only in South Carolina for $175. Ed
