  1. If you plan to drive the car regularly, any good battery of the proper size and capacity should do fine. If you plan to drive the car less often, you might consider a battery maintainer, that plugs into a 110 volt outlet and maintains a very slight (I belive only an amp or two) charging rate so that the battery is always fully charged. I have had good luck with these on cars that I do not drive very often. You do need to keep an eye on the water level as the maintainer will tend to boil off the water over a long period of time.
  2. I'm not at all a speaker person and my ears are not good enough to tell the difference between a $20 speaker and a $100 speaker. I did, however, replace the door speakers in my 89 coupe because the factory Delco speakers had totally rotten out. Though about replacing the rear speakers also and noticed that they were 10 ohm speakers. The guy at the local radio shop said I would need to get the speakers from GM because 10 ohm speakers were not available and using anything else would damage the system. Can anybody help with this one?
  3. Really neat since they were not made until 1988
  4. I may have a radio module. I will know after this weekend. I purchsed one for my car. If it does not fix my problem, I would like to get my money back out of it. I'll let you know.
  5. Try remotesunlimited.com you can get one for about 40 bucks

    KEYLESS REMOTE

Remote from Remotes Unlimited comes with programming instructions. It is very easy and does not require a dealer. Takes only a few minutes. If you have a problem, they are glad to help you over the phone. I have purchased from them for both my 89 and 90 models. Good quality and work well as long as you do not need pictures on the buttons.
  7. I have just replaced the seats in my 90 vert. I have a pair of burgundy seats that I would like to sell. Passenger side is near perfect and driver side is in good condition. Normal wear cracks but no stains, tears, rips etc. Driver seat is 16 way. I can send you pictures if you are interested. Post here or email me at farnelle@mail.llr.state.sc.us.
  8. Check with Jim Finn. www.jfinn@computerpro.com He has a number of parts cars and he is honest and fair.
  9. If anyone has any help they ccan give me on my post of 26 September about my insturment panel lights, I woould be forever grateful.
  10. I love this forum. I read it most every day. I now find I need some help, however. I have a 90 Reatta convertable with no instrument panel lights. Switches, radio controls, shift indicator etc have no backlighting. The ICP and the climate control screens do light properly. I have replaced the headlight switch cluster with a new one because the dimmer slider on the old one did not work. Was hoping that would fix the problem, but it did not. Can anyone give me some suggestions about what to check?
  11. I have all kinds of electrical quirks in my 89 coupe and also have no insturment lights in my 90 convertable. I also own a Healey and three MGs with no electical problems whatsoever. I know someone is going to say that they are not as complicated either. That being true, I still wonder why so many jokes about Lucas while we never complain about GM's goofy electronics. At least if I have a problem with my Lucas system, I can fix it.
  12. I have a black 90 with burgundy interior and a black top. I think a burgundy top would look really good. Anybody seen one?
  13. Been talking with Jim Finn. He is as baffled as I am. He did mention the cable to the CRTC, but we believe that the plugs on the end of the cable are most likely to give trouble. Mine all look good. Trouble with the cable is that it is burried in the harness and not possible to extract without tearing up the harness. I'm still open to any ideas.
  14. Any ideas would be appreciated. My CRT wiggles starting at the bottom and slowly working up to mid screen. After a while corrects and is clear. I have replaced the CRTC the BCM and the CRT itself. Each new CRT I try works fine for a week or two and then starts to wiggle in the same manner as the one I removed. Got to believe that something in the car is causing the problem. Appears that when I remove the CRT it works fine in another car for a week or so and then begins to wiggle just as it did in my car. I promise I am not making this up!!!!
  15. Are they still working? I am having the same problems. Changed the CRT for other reasons, but the lighting problem did not change.
  16. Have an 89 coupe and I have virtually the same problem with a couple of twists. Most of the time I have no backlighting on either switch pod, the fog light switch, the shift console or the mirror switch. I always have lights on the window switch and the headlight retract switch. How weird is that? I have replaced the light switch pod and nothing changed.<P>Maybe together we can find out something from someone who has had the problem.

    AC out

Just had the identical problem on my 89. Did not need freon and replaced the low pressure sensor and the Body Control Module. Nothing helped. My mechanic finally took the glove box out and looked at the wire splice in the harness that is indicated in the wiring diagram. Even though it looked alright, he recrimped the splice and now everything is working as it should. Go figure!
  18. Thanks, if you know who makes replacement seals, I would appreciate a name.
  19. Does anyone have a line on new door seals for an 89 Reatta. GM no longer supplies. Both my doors leak over the vent windows and constantly drip on to the arm rests and seat controls.
